    The Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) is a species of duck native to North America, Eurasia, and North Africa, it is known for its sexually dimorphic plumage, with male mallards having a grey body, a dark brown chest, a white ring on its neck, a green head, and a yellow beak, whereas female mallards are completely light brown and have a reddish brown beak, there are five recognized subspecies of mallard: the American Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos americana), the Greenland Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos conboschas), the Barbary Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos barbara), the Eurasian Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos platyrhynchos), and the Domestic Duck (Anas platyrhynchos domestica).

    That's funny, the mallard drakes don't seemed to be quacking that much. Why do the mallard drakes don't quack much like the girl mallards do?

    • @erickacruz5882
      @erickacruz5882 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Drakes don't quack they make a whistle kind of sound that's much quieter than a hens quack

    • @daniel_007
      @daniel_007 Před 3 měsíci +2

      That's because the conformation of the drake's breathing and vocalisation grows differently than the one of a female duck. When they grow, one of the muscles around the chest becomes big and asynchronous that the air doesn't flow, making this raspy sound instead.

      @@daniel_007 That make sense. So it's got something to do with their resonating chamber
