  • In this video, my niece and I give a short demo of how to use up those scrap fabrics by making softie baby blocks for family and friends. These blocks are an easy and quick way to make baby gifts to have on hand, or at the last minute for a baby shower. In this video, we used squares cut to 4.5" and using a .25" seam allowance to sew the squares together. When you sew them together, be sure to start and stop ¼" from the edges to make it easier to sew the next block side in place. The final seam is sewn by hand. Enjoy!

There was a lady at my church who made these blocks as her “go to” baby shower gift. Hers were smaller & just scrappy, no embroidery. She did do one thing that was fun,she would insert little jingle bells via a slit in her foam blocks prior to upholstering them in her fabric making them fun for infants to shake.

Absolutely! I usually make these with the crinkle stuff you get in the gift wrap section and cat jingle balls work great, too! Thanks so much for watching! ~Deborah
