I've ridden in two Panteras in my 50 years. It is, was and always WILL be my favorite car in the world.
Badass. I had a white ‘74 Pantera. Had a built 351C, and 17” Hall Pantera wheels with the same size tires. No flares or wings.
Panteras have always been slept on. I'd love to own one. Without a body kit. Lol
would like the kit wwithout the spoiler
I love Panteras! What a stunning piece! And that sound...
Yeah, one of my all time favorite cars
This channel's been featuring such great cars. Don't ever lower the standards, man. Cheers
Thanks and I always try to show amazing rides. There’s so many great vehicles out there that need to be shared
Love Panteras. Cosmetically I do prefer the “before” version ie the earliest versions of this car. This one has to be one of the best sounding cars I’ve heard in a long time. Love how down the owner was to hand you the keys.
So cool he handed me the keys and said have fun! What a joy to drive this. I love the before and after as well but prefer the flares and wing. Either way these are wonderful cars
Brings back some good memories of the old car show days. Dude down here in Ft Lauderdale had a white one with an ex-nascar engine in it. It was bonkers. Caught up with him one day out of gas because he obviously couldn’t run pump gas in it. Had a hot girl with him. Saw him a couple weeks later at a show and said “remember me?” He “didn’t” because this time he was with his wife...
Funny story! 😂😂
Haven't seen one since i was a kid. Love this car.
The pantera has always been one of my all time favourite cars, love that blend of Italian styling and big American V8 engine
That sound... FEROCIOUS!
Omg this guy doesn't need a shrink when has the life he has dude good for you....amazing
Pantera's are right at the top of my list. This one must be the perfect no. 1. One "must have" car. Absolutely made my day here, thanks Shawn
Shawn, you're actually right in thinking that the DeTomaso is American. Alejandro DeTomaso was actually Argentinian, but the designer of the Pantera was Tom Tijaarda an American who worked for Ghia in Italy. So quite a lot of America in an Italian built Argentinian owned, American designed and powered car. A fovorite of mine.
I always loved a Pantera, and that wide body kit makes it just so cool.
Same for me. Especially widened like this
For a long time the Pantera has been the best bargain for a mid-engine car until the stingray came out in 2020 you could not beat the price but you still can't help but to love those classic lines
This is a timeless perfect car for me
ROCK’N the Alpine cassette player......F-YEAH
I remember quality Alpine early 90's stereos. Great clarity sound.
There is nothing like that car and motor combination. Thanks for taking it for a spin.
Wonderful film on a real Italian exotic from Modena! Forza Detomaso!!
Thank you for reviewing this beautiful car for us.👍
Glad you enjoyed it. And it sold almost immediately
Hold on a tick...let me check the couch for any loose change! 👍👍
Wow, that is a beautiful build man. Menacing in jet black. I LOVE it!
Yeah, it’s really mean
I remember my boy friends '71 . The license plate was "NO SWEAT."
I have had 4. Always love them!👍
Dude! What a Radical Ride. One of my Dream Whipz. You are lucky to drive it!!
Now that´s an Icon! Beautiful car...and the sound...wow!
You now have a new subscriber, keep up the good work.
Thank you!!
Another nice find. The sound that makes is badass. Shawn, another great find. Thanks for sharing.
I had the poster on my way as a kid😃
While I prefer the Pre L narrow bodied cars (I have a restored/modified 1972 Pre L, all Panteras are spectacular! The noise, the torque, the missile powered go cart, the beauty even after 50 years is astounding. Nice video.
There was one near my house when I was a kid. Always loved this car! So beautiful.
Sweet ride!
When I was, I guess 6 or seven years old, the guy across the street had a 1974 that was silver with the black trim. It said PANTERA across the body on both sides. He invited me over when he was washing it and I even remember him complaining that he loves it but it overheats all the time.
I’ve always loved Panteras. I’m with you Shawn this is a dream car for me as well. Thanks for sharing.
Pantera just wicked as always!
Gosh you don’t see these often now day. Awesome looking car and sounds amazing. Sounds nice and quiet in the cabin considering there’s a big block Ford sitting right behind you.👍👍👍
The sounds and the looks are just incredible! Loved getting to drive it for a bit...dream car since I was a kid
a 72 Pantera is the "never gonna happen" tier #1 dream car for me. After that, the attainable ones are a 68 Charger, and a 72 Corvette.
Currently working my way up from a 1996 Corvette, but hopefully I'll get somewhere among my top 3 haha.
Great car and great sound. I'm a Ford guy and have always loved the Pantera like you. Really nice engine package and that exhaust sounds great. Would love to be drivin it!!
What a great car, always wanted one, I believe Elvis once owned one and when it didn't start, he shot it with a handgun.
There are a few in the UK, a guy owned one a few streets away when I was a kid. It was orange but stock bodywork, I prefer the blown wheel arches though like the one featured here. 👍
I’ve seen the Elvis one with bullet holes in the steering wheel! 😂
I love it....a dream car, and the shape is just right! Like countach or even bmw M1😍
I’m with you and great comparisons
Yes, even the 90’s tuning arches and wings and spoilers look just like those racing ones of the m1😉
Simply Stunning
The sound at start up. Can’t beat a V8.
A car I wouldn't think twice about buying if I had the money. Beautiful.
Speechless.
This is the most beautiful Pantera I've ever seen
How have I never heard of this car
Still looks good for a old car not dated
The Lambo looks old and dated but this looks fresh
Aaaa the sound is amazing! I love these cars! I live near Italy and Italian cars for me are almost too ecsotic but these Panteras are wonderful blend of Italian styling and muscle from the US made engine.
My all time favourite vintage sports car, simply because of that Cleveland Muscle PowerPlant 💪🏼🏁
I’m with you!
beautiful vintage car
Sure is
Had the Heather Thomas poster next to my Countach poster
Nicolette Sheridan not HT
Hi Guys ✌🏼
France is is watching 🇨🇵😉
I saw one Pantera a few years back now, in bad condition here in France, but i guess his owner is proud to have it.
Actually for us, your American Cars are completely non fitable to our cities.
Road size, gas price etc
So it's a lot of fun to watch and hear them.. Kinda'nother world.
Yeah, with your gas prices American muscle cars would be horrible there
Awesome video!
I’ve been waiting for this car review for a long time
Italian styling-check. Big American muscle-check. These cars are beastly, and I've always loved them.
Same thoughts for me
Hahaha...sill have the Lamborghini poster rolled up in the closet from my childhood! 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome!!
This is the car I had a poster of instead of the Countach. I have always loved the look of this car.
I’ve been in love with these since I was a kid
Shawn, it's on Ebay...buy it...I love this thing!
Super cool, gas monkey garage put the Pantera on my radar a few years ago
I’ve always loved these. One of my dream cars for sure
Detomaso pantera is one of the cars that i really wish to have in my garage if i had the money for it i found out about this car in the grand tour series since then i fell in love with it the sound is music to my ears and when i saw the notification poped up on YT video about detomaso i stoped everything and watched the video
Im with you. Still one of my all time favorite cars
What a nice car ! And that blue Mustang at the end 😳.
Yep and there’s a full episode on the blue Mustang on our channel too. It’s a beast
I'm sucker for De Tomaso Pantera, Very under rated car !
Same for me. Still an all time favorite
@@AutotopiaLA Agree
Awesome! See if you can find a Mangusta to film, Shawn.
Always liked the Pantera. Had a buddy who owned a first year 1971 around 1974-75. The ‘71 was the best year. They came with the high compression, solid lifter Boss 351 engine. They also had solid suspension mounts which made them ride a little harsher but were way more responsive to steering input. I heard back in the day that Ford softened the suspension on all subsequent models plus the later cars came with a lower compression, hydraulic cammed 351 Cleveland. The ‘71 is identifiable by the chrome bumpers which I believe was the only year with these. Unfortunately the Pantera never sold well when new. They were parked in Mercury dealerships next to Montegos, station wagons, Capris, Cougars and Bobcats (Pinto). Only guys who read about, or saw another Pantera somewhere went to a Mercury dealerships to look at one. And then they had to deal with salesmen who knew zip about the car. It was the strangest marketing decision ever.
This is a cool car!! Hard to believe it was 175,000 on top of the price for this car. Gotta love the guy who gives you the keys and let's you drive it by yourself!
Loved when he said go have fun! Such a wonderful car to drive!
Not too hard to believe coming out of Hall Pantera....ridiculously overpriced.
The small block Ford V8 is the best sounding engine ever made - no matter what car it sits in!
Definitely one of my favorites
Panteras are such cool cars. I find it hard to believe they are going for that much though. They don't scream exotic to me.
I’m surprised they’re this cheap actually
Nice Pantera....I always wanted one..
Great man l like it
Me too!
The car look amazing
Sure does. Love the widebody kit on here
“cars are meant to be driven” 👍🏻🇺🇸 thats what i think too cool ride sounds amazing 👊🏼
Exactly!
One of the best looking rear ends out there.
No question
When are we going to see the AutotopiaLA drag races??? Cars from the shows competing for the ALA CROWN!
Cool idea but we don’t have anywhere near the budget of Hoonigan. Maybe sometime down the road but love the idea!
Man that's a amazing car.. I don't think I would even coyote swap it.. when I was little the guy at the gas station had 2 a red and yellow Detemaso such cool cars.. kinda looks like the Jalpa Lamborghini
I love these and I’d never lose the 351. They make great power and that sound is perfection
I love you're channel, my man. And the super Vehicles on the show! I have not seen any c1500 2wd chevy shortbed truck. On the show, I have a 1989 L83 Gen5 5.3, c1500 2wd chevy shortbed truck. That getting ready for some paint soon. Keep doing what you do.
Sounds like a cool truck you’re building! Thanks for watching the channel!!
Hopefully, you can have a Black Pantera in your garage someday, and when you do, make sure it's got an excellent cooling system. Thanks for posting such great muscle cars.
Much like you this is one of my favorite cars of all time. Absolutely a dream car of mine. One day.
I was a kid and got my hand slammed in the passenger door of one of these when they crammed my scrawny ass into the back and, well, I wasn't all the way in apparently. Damn, that hurt! Tell you what though... after the whelping and yelping wore off, the sounds and g-forces and pure raw speed I experienced after that blistered my face to the point where I didn't feel any pain. Lol. I think this was 1974? Anyway, nice memory with this sick fucking ride! This brother did it right.
That owner is ,awesome, so is that car!
My first dog was named Pantera ,thats how much I loved this car
Awesome!!
I have a 72, an absolute blast to own and drive!!
72 is junk
@@timweb1510 you know what they say about "opinions" right??
Dream drive right there. Kool with a capital K
Starting to see some of these reimagined now
It's $59k right now. Offer him $48k and buy it Shawn!
😎
Very nice cool guy letting you drive his car
Really cool guy. Couldn’t believe he said go have fun with it. Awesome!!
My favorite car when I was a kid
Nice car. The rear end resembles a Countach and the front resembles a Fiero GT! The mid section is it's own thing!
Love the sound of the car! Since this car has always been an icon I've never understood why someone didn't by the
rights to the Pantera name and continue building new body styles etc. throughout the years?
i believe they are still around and released a hypercar recently
550hp with these tiny airfilters? Dream on
this was my poster car as a kid ...a super car with a Cleavland
Same for me. Had a white one on the poster
Very cool.
iSEEN that WideBody Pantera title. EXACTLY what I would do & already seen drawins..ain't truly kool w/o a WideBody and stance
I love em either way but the flared winged version is my favorite by far
wow awesome
Italian good lucks and American muscle! A Pantera is the best of both worlds.
Exactly
I love these...but I really like the stock look better especially the Mangusta
This is stock look! for a 1985 GT5 version, just like Lambo guys took early Countaches and removed the periscope and added flares to make the cars look newer.
@@norac1244 I like it without the wing and kit...maybe the flares but thats it
I’m the opposite. I love the flares and the wing. Looks so radical and I remember them when I was younger and they we just pure cool
I’ve always loved these cars, a dream build would be to resto mod one and put the new gt500 engine and blower !!! Cool video, thanks man !!!
I am doing that... mmr 5.8 with gt500 heads and twin turbo
As a kid, I thought Panteras were italian - it's just good old 'brute force and ignorance' ( no insult intended) that makes them such a handful. Nice to hear you say 'they were meant to be modified', so many purists over here in Europe would turn their backs on you if it was non-factory dust on them when these days we have such better technology to improve the ride and handling and of course performance. Back in the sixties and seventies, if your car had 200bhp it was amazing - my 15 year-old grocery getter has that much power !
amazing
That thing is stunning! $90k 🤔 hmmm
I feel like the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech was inspired by this and the Testarossa
not a ferrari its a pantera
I 2nd this👍
So damn awesome. I forget, who did Pantera? American Car Rt?
Thank this man for choosing a Ferrari fighting American Super Car. Sinking cash into unorthodox vehicles.
DeTomaso with Ford power
Made in Italy by De Tomaso in Modena near Ferrari.
Nice car have not seen one in years.
