The 5 BEST Bookstores in NYC | Hannah Lee | 2021
What's your favorite bookstore in NYC?
These are amazing selections for bookstores in New York City. I've been to 3 of the ones you mentioned. Such an incredible roster.
Since I've been back in the city as as a performer, there is another great store that just reopened in a new location especially for all the Arts people out there...... The Drama Book Shop now on 39th Street. I finally made it inside to visit the new location. It's unbelievable. Full lineup of Scripts, Scores, all things within the Performing Arts. This bookshop is over 100 years old. 2 1/2 years ago, it was on the verge of being shutdown for good at its original location on 40th Street due to the rent being so high. However, thanks to a couple of fundraising efforts and the team behind Hamilton (Lin Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, and the Nederlander Organization), the shop was saved. With its new shop, they now included a brand new coffee shop inside the store as well. You have to check it out next time you're in midtown.
Ooh thanks, Mike! I'll definitely have to go check that one out. I hadn't heard of it before. 😀
Books of Wonder on18 West 18th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, in Chelsea would be my favorite bookstore. When I was visiting NYC and staying in a hostle not to far from here, I wanted to buy my grandchildren each a book and I found all the books here, 2 years in a role, low prices and they loved the books!👍 Hannah Lee, when you finish reading your books what do you do with them?
I’ll have to check that one out! 😊 It depends on the book.
I actually read a lot of library books on my kindle. There’s an app you can use to borrow ebooks with a virtual library card. (Libby) If it’s not a library book, sometimes I’ll keep copies of my favorites and donate or pass the others on to someone else. 🤗
I could browse in a bookstore all day! These bookstores look really cool!
They're beautiful! Definitely check them out if you get the chance. 😀
This was a great video. My favorite has always been the Strand before they modernized it and even after. I must go to Housing Works the next time I’m in New York.
Thank you! Yes, Housing Works is incredible. 😊
My personal favorite bookstore is the “Mysterious Book Shop on Warren Street in lower Manhattan
I'll have to go check that one out!
Yay, a bookstore and a cafe in one? To think you can be sitting there sipping coffee and reading a book in the middle of NYC. What else do you need? 🤓📚
The best!! 🤗
Hi Hannah - I always visit East Village Books when in NYC. It's a bit of a mess , but it's a beautiful mess 😃
I’ve been there! It’s great. It may have to make the next bookstore video. 😊
the first one is soo nice! I've never been to any of these😅 I need to check them out
Definitely! They’re all worth visiting for sure. 😊
Yes, do another video with more book stores!!
Absolutely! 😊
Fantastic! Thanks!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Hannah for the video recommendation. It was great and gave us an insight into the bookstore in the big city.🥰🥰
Thanks for watching! 😊
Hi Hannah, It's great you put up a nice vid on local bookstores and encourage folks to shop locally. McNally Jackson is always worth a visit and I also enjoy The Community Bookstore. The Strand in Manhattan is a NY icon but rumors are they might be closing. Next time you're in Manhattan, perhaps you can visit The Strand.. and maybe walk The Highline ? 🌹💂❇️🐼🐷
I’ve never been to The Community Bookstore. I’ll have to check that one out for sure. Thanks for the suggestions. I really appreciate them, as always! 😊
Great review ideas💡 I visited the Barnes & Noble Bookstore before at Co-Op City in the Bronx. They did had some interesting books to read.🧐 I looked and walked around the area sections in the store. They have nice books to buy, take it with you and read it at home. You should differently go check it out sometime.🙂
Thanks for the recommendation, Ramces! 😊
I live in the Bronx and unfortunately they got rid of it as it was the only bookstore in the borough
📚💪✍️📕📖❤️
Thanks for watching!
