- Hello, Friends!
*If you can, please support your local bookstores during this time! My two favorites (Powell's and Annie Blooms) are in danger of having to shut down permanently because of the extreme loss of business.*

Don't you just immediately feel at home in a bookstore? No matter where you are in the world, in a bookstore you can surround yourself with your most favorite and familiar characters, melting boundaries of time and space ✨ Landon and I spent our rainy Saturday night in THE LARGEST Independent Bookstore in the United States-- Powell's City of Books. This is my happy place in Portland; I could easily spend multiple consecutive days exploring the never-ending maze of books.
I'm currently shopping for and planning my 2020 Reading list-- please feel free to share your favorite books with me!
I'm so very happy you're here. Thank you for watching :)
Hugs,
Morgan

adding this to places i need to visit before death
A wonderful bucket list item!
Me too. Definitely. Where is it? Do you know? I want to get lost there.
@@odelyalevy It's in Portland. :)
JK K oh my gosh. Wow. Thank you. I need to visit Portland just for this. I think I born with a book attach to me. This is my world. Looks like lots of fun.
@@odelyalevy You're welcome! It's a really fun to explore in there! Another AMAZING one is The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles!
Throwback to when u were able to walk around without a mask
I know I was so confused until I checked when this was posted
😟 yea
Welcome to 2023
This is going to sound weird, but watching this, the night sky and seeing you in a book store, makes me feel at home
That is a most wonderful compliment!!! I’m so glad my video makes you feel at home 📚
not weird at all!!
Ikrr its so homey
This bookstore looks absolutely stunning! This vlog was so aesthetically pleasing
Thank you so much!! It really is the most amazing bookstore 📚
Morgan Long hi love. do you know if there is any similar book stores in massachusetts or pennsylvania??
Yall so wholesome I could cry.
I would kill to have a bookstore like that in my area. We dont have any here.
Yea same I live like an hour away from one
Go to a resale shop and sorry you don't got any bookshops.
in my area? i don't think there are bookstore like that in my country

Fly to Portland. You could spend two days inside the store. Day 3, go see the city in all its Portlandia weirdness 😀
I agree. Reading a book on a screen is NOT for me. I love the smell of books too. And I miss just going to bookstores every weekend to browse & shop. Not now... :( can't. World is so different. It's sad.
xx
I could go into that store, and never be seen or heard from again.
Seriously, same!
They would smell you after 2 weeks without showering, so you would be found 😀
It’s like the Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory of book stores! How did I not know this existed?! 😮😍
It is and so appropriate that it is smack in the heart of Portland.
Good lord, it’s almost 4 months into quarantine and what I wouldn’t give to go hang out at this store for an afternoon.
Powell’s books and it is in Portland Oregon.
wow this was so cozy to watch. makes me want to curl up in a blanket with some hot chocolate and a book. i loved this vlog!
That sounds lovely! I think I'll do the same ☕️✨
Best you can do these days to come close to that vibe! Even public libraries allow visitors/costumers no longer than 30 minutes these days! :crying: I do see the point, totally, and I haven't even cared for 20 years - guess you do miss most what you just can't have. Ask me again in one year. :P
I need this book store in my life. Might be too far to travel from England though.
Then again ...
hahaha this made me chuckle-- I like the possibility that lies in "then again..." ✨
if you ever want to go see a gorgeous book shop (not quite as big but equally as beautiful) you should check out barter books in alnwick if you've never been. it's a used book shop that's a lot smaller than this one but so cosy and so beautiful. i spent hours in there when i went, and it has a small cafe too. i think it used to be a railway station or something.
Morgan Long i love your vibe!
I believe there are non stop flights from London.
We have a Waterstones in England, not as big, but just as beautiful.
I come back to this vlog for comfort :)
I watch it all the time
Love it. Really captures the magic of such a beautiful place.
Katherine Turner Thank you sooo very much!!
i don't know why the "i'm so glad you're here" at the start made me feel so welcome, but it did. subscribed instantly
It is now 2021 and this has become my comfort video. An excellent reminder of what it feels like to explore the long halls and many stories of a bookstore. Heres to hoping 2021 will be the year we can all return to the wonderful smell of coffee, tea and new and old books alike.
9:40 - That is the Finnish (Finland) version of the Philosopher's Stone. All the other Harry Potter books in Finnish have strange illustrations, too!
omg are you finnish!?!?!?!!
@@elsalydman7949 Juu, olen.
- Yes, I am.
I could be in that bookstore all day and still want more.
Me too. I really love this bookstore. !!
Thanks for this.
I hope i get the chance to visit this place one day.
Also ron’s hair on the cover of camara secreta made me laugh
I hope you get the chance too! Isn't book cover culture so funny?? Ron's hair is fabulous ✨
My lovely English teacher used to take my class on field trips to Portland, which is 2 hours away from where I live. We used to see plays at the Artists Repertory and Portland Center Stage, and when we saw a play at AR, we would wander around the Pearl District and everyone always defaulted to Powell's. It was always so beautiful. Watching this brings back so many memories, and I wish to go there again once it is safer. I love it so much, I always found so many amazing things, I always had fun with friends, and this video really reminded me to cherish the memories I have.
One interesting element is there used book buy counter. They divide into a reject and accept pile. You store the rejects away ASAP so that, when they are done, you clear out quickly to make room for the next seller.
Hello! Love this bookstore vlog absolutely! I’m a Chinese, so I notice that the third HP version you picked up is actually a Chinese translation one, we read just like how English books are read, starting from the first page, left to right instead from the last page, haha, still very cute you thought how we read from the back ;)
That bookstore is amazing 😱 and you were right the first Harry Potter you showed was the german one. It‘s really weird when books I just normally find in my bookstore show up in the translation section in other countries.
Thank you so so much! Book cover culture is so funny! Really ours are the abnormal ones and the Britain covers are the originals. Have you read/seen the illustrated versions? AMAZING.
Worked at Powell's...we try to keep children's/middle grade books of all translations in the children's room so that bilingual or non-English speaking children don't have to go to a whole other room. It makes it more inviting for the kids.
This came up in my recommended and I clicked on it because of how much I miss my monthly Powells trips. I live in Portland and I have been going to Powells since I was a toddler, truly a magical place!
Which Powells is this one in Portland?
Love this! The one copy of Harry Potter with the amazing noses was Finnish! Those are my childhood copies, amazing to see them somewhere else aswell. Happy spring! xx
Hi, Simone!! Finnish! How very amazing :)
Hugs to you xx
so glad you popped up on my recommended page!! this was lovely 💕
I'm so glad you took the time to watch my video!! Thank you
given that i can’t go out to bookstores myself these days, this was exactly what i needed! great video ❤️
Ahhh, I sooo miss the pleasure of getting lost among my most favorite characters and places in a dusty, wise bookstore 📚 I'm glad this video has given you at least some of that comfort :)
Not sure if you'll read this, Morgan, but I wanted to tell you that your videos make me feel so quiet. Something about your voice, your smile, and the general wholesomeness of your content makes me feel energized and calm all at the same time. So, thank you!
Thank you so much, Tayler!! You've made my day
Oh the bookshop on the corner is such a fun read. Was excited to see it
This was so calming and peaceful ☺️☕️🍪
Thank you so very much
I am 2360 miles away from this amazing bookstore. It’s now on my bucket list to go there some day
This bookstore is a dream come true!! I hope you make it there some day soon : )
If it makes you feel better, I live 1600+ miles from Portland and have visited the city twice and Powell's four total times. You'll get there!
Just lol'd at !5:55 because I could see Landon in the glass of the door getting that shot with the camera of you exiting! What a great guy! I'm a new subscriber going through all your videos! Just stumbled upon your channel one day and I am SO glad that I did! Love it so much!
It's unlikely that this midwest girl will ever make it to the west coast but this bookstore is what dreams are made of 😍
I’ve just discovered your channel. Love your videos, your so sweet. Your enthusiasm and excitement about walking around a book shop makes me want to stop binge watching your videos and go and dig out a book!! I moved from England to Canada 10 years ago, bought allot of books with me, many of which I’ve never read, then had a child and have barely picked up a book since. I’m going to go and find one! Maybe I will start with Harry Potter again!!
I started crying while watching this video haha i used to live in the Portland area but I had to move back to my home country (Korea). I still feel like Portland my home and I long to go back. I remember playing in the city of books when I was like ten- now im 17! Ugh anyway thank you for this lovely video and a trip down memory lane :)
Oh. My. God. A book store. With. A. Map!!! I NEED this bookshop 😂😍 also, THE BLUE ROOM!!!
I recently discovered your channel thanks to quarantine and have been bingeing on your older videos to catch up. You have been a beacon of light. Thank you for your content🙏 My gosh this place is what I imagine heaven to be like 😍
I miss being able to go to the library and book stores, so this was quite enjoyable to watch. Got to imagine I was there for a bit ❤
Yes the that harry potter one was in german😍 childhood memories i remember my brother went out on the night one of these books came out at midnight to buy it here in germany and they were gone like 1 or 2h even though the book store is like 10 mins away but like EVERYONE wanted to have it...its such a beautiful childhood memory for me whem they came back home and my brother was so happy and my dad SO done cause he was tired and was sorrounded by kids for 2h straight😂
Absolutely amazing!! Oh how I miss Powell's, no other book store could compare!
Powell's is pure MAGIC. ✨
I'm a long haul trucker, and every time I end up in Portland, I make sure to stop here. I usually take a day off, have breakfast at Fuller's, then spend up to 6 hours just chilling here. It's a wonderful place!
Just loved it!! Can we appreciate the girl? She is damn nice and beautiful. Her voice is so pleasing. And the bookstore wow!! Unfortunately, in India we don't have that much bookstores or libraries but surely gonna visit them once this corona thingy is over. Just loved u and stay safe❤
I LOVE USED BOOKS! they each tell their own story on its own...just love it
I love this video. A cozy rainy night browsing the shelves of a bookstore is magical and comforting.
This is like the Willy Wonka Factory for book lovers. Now Portland is on my travel bucket list! 📚
i feel so nostalgic even though ive never been here before
I can't express ... How much delighted i feel now... Thank you for this...i have never seen this kinda majestic thing ever in my life...i wish i could be there ... I want to explore every section of this magicland
This is my first video of yours, good to have a Portlander in Booktube!! Powell’s is THE BEST ❤️
Ohmygosh ... there is just sooooo much to love about this video! First off, it's in one of my favorite places on the planet.
PS ... Forgot to mention Landon's fascination with the ladder. That really resonated with me because I have always LOVED those and the dream house I envision for myself has a library with floor to ceiling bookshelves requiring a ladder just like that (as well as a big comfy chair, cozy window seat that looks out on a beautiful garden or forest, and a table/desk with a little green reading lamp just like the ones in Ivy League library scenes in movies). :-D
I'm not gonna lie - I come back to this every other month because it's the ultimate comfort watch
There's just something about going to places at night, and places when it's raining too...🌙
I do agree!!
I loved Powells books when I went. In my 6 day stay in Portland I went 9 times. I didn't even want to go the first time because I thought it was pointless but I was urged to go. I loved it so much, I bought 20 books. And thanks to them they turned me from a 6 book a year reader to 52 book a year reader (One a week).
That’s AMAZING!
I seriously enjoyed the "soundtrack" lol 🎧
A friend brought back a Powell's bookmark from when she visited for a writing convention. I use it in all my reading now, even though I've never been. Someday I'll make it there and spend the whole day just wandering amongst books. (Also, I just found your channel and have already watched several videos back to back to back to back...not only is your cinematography beautiful, but so is the tone, your puppy, and your reading montages...basically I love it all).
I just love their book marks! I have SO many. What does yours look like?
I'm excited for the day you get to spend the day at Powells 📚✨
Thank you sooo very much for being here and taking the time to watch and comment on my videos-- I'm so glad you appreciate the many different pieces that make up my videos, it's the best compliment! (and special thanks from Roo 🐾)
This video is beautifully crafted. I loved every minute of it.
Ps, you should feature Landon in more videos. He’s so funny.
💫📚💕
argggg this looks like absoloute HEAVEN and bliss....
I keep going through your Powell’s shopping vids... it’s making me miss it there so much! After quarantine this is the first place we’re going. Thanks for being wonderful ❤️
Omgoodness I can smell the bookstore from here!! It’s what I hope heaven smells like 🤣
I can't wait to visit Powell's again!! Thank you for watching, Chandra ❤️
This video make me feel so nostalgic for back when we could travel and go anywhere before the virus. It’s such a cozy and happy video and it makes me just another level of calm 💕💞
I remember Powell's well. One of my all-time favorite bookshops!! Everywhere I go, the first things I Yelped for are ... BOOKSTORES!! I know how you feel, Morgan!! Glad to have discovered your channel today. I was searching for "BOOKSTORE VLOG" and there you were!
Bookstores are a home away from home. I instantly feel comfortable and at peace whenever I step foot into one, no matter where I am!
I'm so glad you found me-- thank you for watching my videos 💕
I’m amazed by this bookstore... Powell is incredible! I feel sad that I cannot visit Portland while corona...
The old Shakespeare’s collection was stunning!
Thanks for your video and sorry for my English grammar.😂😆
Easily the best bookstore I've ever visited. The Strand in NYC is great, too, but it feels cramped and congested at times because of the large crowds and comparatively limited space. Powell's is *MASSIVE* and it's very easy (and fun) to get lost in there. It's one of several mandatory stops for me whenever I visit the beautiful city of Portland.
I have literally never been so happy watching a vlog in my life. This is the ultimate dream.
this bookstore is amazing! it literally makes me want to curl up with a blanket, a cup of tea, and a good book on a rainy day! loved this vlog💕
This came up in my recommended and I’m so glad it did - giving me all the cosy and calm vibes. ❤️
There's no bad time to visit Powell's, but it does seem extra perfect to visit on a rainy night. And, omg, how did I NOT know there was a journal section!?!
I simply have to visit the journal section every time I go!!
@@MorganLong Me, too! Love, love, LOVE it!!
When you went to grab a tea inside of the store, it reminded me of something. 5mins into the video and i've got it! It reminds me of Fox Books from the movie "you've got mail". I've always wanted to go there and this looks to be the closest thing to it! Super cozy video
I just discovered this video (and your channel) through my recommended videos and I am so thankful for the algorithm today! This is the most wonderful bookstore vlog I have ever seen! So relaxing, and aesthetically pleasing, and the music you chose! Thank you for being you I needed this today! 💗
When you pulled out the map I nearly started crying form excitement!! This bookstore is sooo big it needs a MAP! That’s my heaven!
This for me was similar to how i feel when watching You've Got Mail. I love anything to do with bookstores and everything about this was lovely!!
9:05 it’s Bulgarian, I’m impressed they have a copy of Harry Potter in Bulgarian that’s amazing
This was so comforting. In a time where I can’t walk among a great big bookstore with no covid concerns, this lightened my spirit a bit.
this was so torturous to watch while being stuck at home and not being able to visit any bookstore. also there's no such beautiful gigantic place near me. it is a dream to visit Powell's Bookstore. It is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this.
I love how so many of these books are used. Such beauty of giving books a second life.
What a treat! I loved seeing the inside of Powell's Bookstore!
I'm reviewing this video three years later and getting the same pleasure :)
It’s the wonderful place!📚
Thanks 😊
I have never seen something more cozy than your vlog! I'm from Belarus, and, offficially, you're my favorite blogger from this moment! 💖
Best bookstore vlog!🙂 You two did enjoy yourself and talked about books plus gave books proper camera time..so I can admire the books in the shelfs..I watched it like 50 times and always love to watch your vlog before reading a book..
Canadian here, traveled to this bookstore about 5 years ago. Amazing place. Thanks so much for this. Glad you didn't get lost, its so BIG and wonderful !
the happiest a video has made me in a long time. thank you.
I love how this bookstore is so big you need a literal map. A bookworms dream.
I've just wanted to say that I had a really rough day and found this video because it was in my recommendations - I didn't look for it.
It's like youtube knew what would lighten up my mood. This video made me calm and feel warm inside. - Just like another commenter put it: It made me feel at home.
Plus, it has shown me a place to travel to, once the current pandemic quiets down. Thank you for this video!
Boy, I've never seen a bookstore that large and variety before. Impressed, thank for sharing!
Oh! I used to live in Portland and your beautiful vlog made me viscerally pine to go back and spend my Saturdays and late nights in Powell’s again! 💕
I absolutely love Powells, but I don't live anywhere near Oregon. Thank you for taking me back there and reminding me of how beautiful the store is.
That's heaven ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Adding this to the bucket list
You call it Bookstore, I call it heaven. ~ A Bibliophile 📚❤️
I enjoyed this immensely! Okay, this bookstore is now on my bucket list of places to go to. What an adventure it is inside!!
I went to Powell's once (just a couple of months before this video actually) and I was so star struck that I couldn't actually choose a book to get from there! I was able to come away with a list of recommendations though so I didn't leave totally empty handed. I can't wait to go back someday!!
This is one of the best bookstores I have ever been to. Watching your vlog transported me back. ❤️
The energy created in the studio today is ✨immaculate✨ but actually it rlly is I feel so at peace rn
It truly is a city of books!!! 📚✨🌆😱 What a gorgeous store, thank you for taking us along got all the cosy vibes! 📚🥰
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you for watching 🥰📚✨
This is my most favorite book vlog of all time.
I'm positively honored!
This is my favorite bookstore vlog ever!! It’s really relaxing and inspiring ❤️
I'm honored!! Thank you so much for being here
I mean this bookstore is absolutely magical 😭♥️i kid you not that i cry when i saw it because that’s so adorable and I can’t handle all this prettiness 😭♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This is one of the best things I've ever stumbled upon on youtube. EVER. So calming and cozy, literally my new happy place- I felt like I was really with you guys exploring this incredible building. You even picked up the books I would have wanted to look at! Now I can't wait to visit Powell's some day.
Yes!! I felt the same way. I just discovered Morgan's videos this week and they have become my new happy place as well. :-)
Wow, what a store. Thanks for taking us with you.
This vlog was so warm and cozy and wholesome. You definitely made me want to go book shopping at Powell's, just those 16 minutes made me feel like I could spend hours in there and I was totally whispering "wow" under my breath as you took us around the place. I love that they sell used books! It only makes me want to travel there even more :')
Powell's is such a magical place ✨ I miss the comforts of it's endless maze of books 📚 I just ordered from their online shop but it simply isn't the same! I'm glad you could experience the magic through my video :)
I miss Powell’s! I used to go on my lunch breaks to browse. There’s nothing better than exploring and finding the perfect book. 📚
The music, the books, and the filter (if you've used it) make this video just really BEAUTIFUL. The begining of the video looks like an opening scene in a movie. This video just made me miss winter.
The orange room is heaven!
I have never seen a bookstore like this. I want to live in there! I live in a tiny city in Germany and the bookstores are as tiny as the city 😃 I spotted my facourite childhood book in the foreign language book section: Tintenherz (inkheart in English). It’s a very magical book about books and stories. I absolutely recommend it! ☺️
I have read and loved Inkheart! The writing is so lovely ✨ I hope one day you get to visit Powell's City of Books 📚
