Nice bit of oak there. Looks good. It may have been the way it was filmed but it looked like he was milling going upwards rather than downwards. Could have been camera angle, but milling on a downward slope is always easiest. 👍

Yeah it is pretty strait forward. They have been drying since and nearly there. Ready for all once finished.

Lars you are right that wood is worth so much more now oh my !!! Nice bit of work James just curious how do you keep it level at the end of the cut ?
Thanks Bill, Lars is a wise lad for 18 👍🏼 the mill allows you to keep it level as sticks out 8 inches each side.
I run a 64 inch low pro chain on my 881 milling setup
Well if you had taken the first cut off properly, by finding centre of log on both ends, and sitting ladder on a plate at each end that is higher at one end to get the top level. Cut that off, then the surface is level. then you wouldn't use the ladder again, the surface of the log would be adequate and level.
A winch would help also. Saves all that chainsaw movement .Slow and even steady cut as hand winch pulls the saw through
Never used a mill but they are a great bit of kit. How did you not use a battery saw ? 😁😁

@@MachineryNation 200-250 mark, easy, I’d say. Maybe look up what the cubic meter is worth at the moment, not sure if it’s English or American Oak, American has a more open grain, so English is best…naturally 😉👍👍 do get them straps on em tho, no one wants to work with twisted stuff.
