Elton should be praised for his honesty. Very revealing.
This dude is such a treasure. After all this years he stays him re and honest. So much praise.
I have a hell of alot of respect to elton John he lost everything except his career and gained it all back whenever he opens up his big mouth towered someone it's not ignorance it's experience and the people who get mad when he calls them out are showing me one thing they still don't have the balls to save there own life
Elton is my hero. I found his music when I was struggling. Now I've become bulimic and he gives me reassurance that I can get through this. Thank you Elton💜
Wow I had no idea Elton struggled with bulimia too. I recently attended his concert here in Atlanta last week & he did mention it was his first time ever performing there (concert wise) if I heard right. When he mentioned the ex partner going to Atlanta for rehab, it kinda makes sense why it might have been hard for him to go back to a place that not only changed his life, but made him confront his demons. I admire his bravery for speaking up about his addictions & not being ashamed but empowered by the changes he made to better his life. He’s a brilliant artist & influencer and I’m so honored to have seen such an amazing performer & person! ❤
He has the best sense of humor! Whether he's talking about things in general or about very serious issues, his use of humor can decrease the dreaded shame and helps to put a bright spot the most difficult life issues. His approach can really help put people at ease when they start looking at themselves! In my eyes some of his saddest humor came during his mid-70s career-when he was making jokes that not so subtley addressed tabloid news about his sexuality. He seemed to use the humor as an attempt to head off the criticism and try to take the sting of paon away by getting the jump on it and putting it out there. Humor can be a great cover for pain...The heckling and flack he took for being as honest as he could was a sad, sad situation 😢 I had no intention to use that song, but my heart goes out to his younger self 💔 But I absolutely LOVE the way he says exactly what he's thinking many times without a filter! And a fantastic use of humor!!
Respect for his honesty....
Because of Elton John, through all my pain, I'm still standing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I am.
Elton johns memoirs will be an incredible read!!
fucking brilliant man. I'm not the type of person who believes that people have a purpose, but every once in a while you run into someone who really changes the world, and you can't picture the world without them...
need a talk show like this back on the bbc
So much respect Elton I hope you see this
John always does a top notch interview !
Thank you for sharing this one
Denner
What a treat to hear Elton speak about his life. I had only known his music. Very interesting to hear about his life.
Wow. God bless him. I'm glad he found the strength to do that.
admire him so much!
They laugh to the thought that Elton had go around and be so proud of himself looking like Chopin. But everytbody accept him thought that i looked like Marie Antoinnette. That's the funny part.
Sir Elton's autobiography goes into a lot more detail about his addictions and how he kicked them all. It's a hard read but worth it now he's recovered.
very honest with himself. which i like!
I like him!
I'm addicted to Elton's music, the best kind. ;)
Anyone recognize this lyric?
"Here's my own belief about all the dirty girls
That you have to clean the oyster to find the pearl
And like rags that belong to you I belong to myself
So don't show up around here till your social worker's helped"
Dirty little girl. Fucking great song.💛
For the most part, Elton didn't write the lyrics to his songs ("Dirty Little Girl" was by Bernie Taupin), but Elton is such a brilliant musician, it's hard to believe the words and music weren't created by the same person. Yeah, I'm addicted too!
@@Organizm1 I never said Elton WROTE the lyric, silly.
@@DexterHaven Haha I know you didn't, and you'll notice I never said you did!
However, the video is about Elton, and you were talking about Elton's music, then you suddenly asked if anyone recognised the LYRIC, not the SONG.... the juxtaposition is misleading. However, I'm glad you're also a great admirer of both.
@@Organizm1 I see. OK, I offered the lyric as a segment of an obscure Elton song only a true fan might know, analogous to a game such as name-that-tune. Then, rather than name it straightaway, you said "For the most part, Elton didn't write the lyrics to his songs," which seemed out of place unless you were correcting a misunderstanding. But that raises a new issue. You say, "For the most part, Elton didn't write the lyrics." On his albums from his early days of Empty Sky and his Elton John album (the one with "You Song") all the way through "Blue Moves," I wonder what song or songs you have in mind in which Elton did write the lyrics, according to you, which justifies your use of "for the most part."
@TalkToTheBody I agree, he's a fantastic example to all people out there that are addicted to something... he sends out the clear message that if you want to, you can recover from it and live your life to the fullest :)
It's ironic seeing this after watching that video of him and Lily Allen where he said "I could still snort you under the table."
The only good addiction...addiction to your songs Sir ❤
Why is everything that BBC makes good?
the letter to cocaine that Elton John had written to cocaine was actually very beautiful......I think would have made a great song...............ace
In one interview he said that Bernie told him the exact same thing, that he should put it out as a song.
You will never see Elton John and Anne Robinson in the same room!
well done Elton
is there a part three to this?
i think laughing at him talking about his ED might seem pretty harmless and maybe even a healthy way to cope with it's grief, but nobody would laugh like that if it was a woman sitting up there.
It's the CZcams comment rating system that gives me some faith in humanity.
GET ELTON JOHN ON TOP GEAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Lifestyle choices? Hope your not talking about his sexuality. There is no choice in that matter. Born this Way baby.
Sainsbury's Cockles. Sainsburys is a supermarket chain (like Walmart or Asda as it it is in the UK). Cockles are like clams but smaller.
His style of letter to the drug is interesting. He should publish that. The guy is a great artist, and the letter to cocaine might be an intereting work to read.
????
I will be happy
where is the next part?
I wouldn't say it's a shame necessarily. As long as the drugs don't totally destroy them and they can be rehabilitated, like Elton clearly did as this interview shows, then it's kinda the way you do end up making incredible music. Many artists do, or perhaps used to, take drugs, it's kinda part of the lifestyle I guess. It doesn't mean that once they're clean, they won't be able to play the music they made when they were high.
Yes it is. Nobody would choose to be an addict.
what year is this interview?
2000
23 years ago 💧😊😁😁😄😄😉😗
@mapgirl9 I just object to adverts (FULL STOP).
All the best.
David.
@FutureAbe because, they talk about him a lot
I thought it was Ryan White's death which caused Elton to get sober? Maybe this also played a part aswell?
They both did. Ryans white was the eye opener and his ex partner who got treatment was the icing on the cake
@INTHEJUNGLE123 Talk about misinterpretation - it's not about "getting off" in regards to talking about their experiences , it's about being open about it, it's about making the story common knowledge and having a public face for people to relate too. Also, If you were able enough to go on Parkinson you'd have a difficult time trying not to talk about yourself too.
i really do object to BBC youtube channels having adverts!
@LayDee000. He says: "Sainsbury´s Cockles". It is a small shellfish, belongs to the clam family. Elton use to buy pickled cockles at Sainsbury´s. Are you English speaking? I am swedish, hope you understand now. Best regards. /Jane.
Jane Mills thank you Jane. I did not know what they were!
Must try them with Haagen Dazs
And a Bacon Butty.
@borntobwild22
haha xD
@xRAMxDOD why??
good.. make 4 and ill die happy
it is a shame tho that a lot of artists do their best stuff when on drugs
All his friends work for him? poor man.
No shit
he has bad roids--look at how he's sitting on only one asscheek.
2.41 didn’t mention your raging homosexuality then. Funny that’s the first thing that strikes me about you Elton.
Mark Thorne What a bizarre comment. Why would his male partner mention his “raging homosexuality”?
@@claresherman2278 Exactly. He would've known that he was gay if they were in a relationship
What's in ELTON'S JOHN?? ....................... Gomer's Pyle.
