    The Fathers Green! Seriously though, that would be a pretty cool channel and pretty helpful to new dads like me. It's hard for new dads to find community.

    Happy Birthday My Friend! You're going to be a great Father!! You've learned so much about yourself thru the years. Your journey hasnt always been easy, but then nothing worth while is EVER easy, but you learned. Many many people become parents without your insite to who you are.
    I know that for me, I thought my folks did a pretty good job in the areas that matter- thinking, reasoning, and always questioning. They weren't judgmental and I try not to be..thats they way I raised mine. I adopted 6 thru the years and I think they are FANTASTIC people!
    Your daughter will do nothing but grow, smile and do well! Congratulations!

    youre killing it, appreciate you getting real with us about the insecurities that come along with awesome life events. I think you touched on a really important step for introspection, and how difficult it can be to 'sit with' negative emotions like depression or confusion. A great practice for anyone is to 'sit with' neutral or positive emotional states and really dive into the feelings as a practice for the inevitable negative emotions that will one day come and cycle as they do. If the first time one really contemplates or sits with their deep internal feelings is because theyre overwhelmed in negative emotion(s) it can be very hard to deal with, so practice in the so called better times as a buoy against the imminent fluctuations - as a tool to return to the middle path from whatever direction we strayed from it.

    No need to compete with your folks or family members. You're enough. You're going to be a terrific parent.

    I'm not nor want to be a parent (no offence to anyone who is/wants to be), but wow! I really do relate to what you said about depression and dealing with it, I choose to deal with it the same way. X

    Why is your assumption that everyone’s sense of self is “false?”

    • @gohabs9
      @gohabs9 Před 3 měsíci +1

      the very nature of a concept representing the 'sense of self' prevents it from being the 'true self' because it is filtered through the ego. Our 'sense of self' is a costume-version of our true self that we parade around in and pretend its real. I get the feeling that our true self is closer to the idea of 'no-self', and any 'sense of self' is therefore false.

      @@gohabs9 the very nature of these questions makes it impossible to answer, everything is unfalsifiable, and so it seems absurd to just state that everyone has “false senses of self.”

    • @gohabs9
      @gohabs9 Před 3 měsíci

      @@kfhahn it was your question to begin with, maybe it was absurd to ask a question which is impossible to answer for you.

      @@gohabs9 you misunderstand what i mean by “question.” I mean this subject … this topic. the video was the one making the claim that people all have false senses of self

    He's talking about a human right? How can a 1 month old be potty trained, shouldn't even be able to support its head yet...

    • @melancholly007
      @melancholly007 Před 3 měsíci +2

      Correct. He, and/or his partner may have trained themselves to recognize when Mia needs to "go" and then places the baby on a potty, but the baby does not yet have the capacity to recognize the correlation.

    Age matters. In the old days we gave birth to our children, very young. Before we even had a chance to finish growing up ourselves. Women didn’t have a chance to explore who they were or who they wanted to be. They were just told to be mothers. And dad’s were out of the house working 24 seven trying to bring home some money to feed the family. They weren’t around much with their kids. Things are different today. Parents try to raise their children together. They’re generally raising them later in life so maybe they’ve already established some sort of stable income. it is sad that moms are not in the house anymore in a lot of cases. But I think the older you are when you have children the more you’re in touch with who you are and what you want out of life and what you want to provide for your children. 20 years ago, you probably wouldn’t have done such a good job. Congratulations on the new baby. The most precious thing you will ever have.
