- A video explaining how, starting in 1982, the new early warning system was to replace the old 1960s system. The system comprised of two Wire Broadcast services: 'HANDEL' or WB1800 for unidirectional speech from the Air Defence centre to 250 carrier control points (CCPs) in police stations and the WB1400 system to provide speech to 20,000 Warning Points and control of 7,000 siren control. The WB1400 system was used for both air attack warning and for flood warning in Essex, Kent and London.
Thank you-excellent video-BT used to have a training unit in a wooden case that they used for Police, and other training. I did my CCP training at Easingwold, as they had a BT test/training unit in the hallway off the main syndicate rooms-
The Police training videos I think you're talking about are on CZcams, I've seen one on here before, andd of course I can't remember the channel name lol
Thanks for the upload. Love anything from the Threads era.
Very interesting bit of history
Bump as we're gonna need this in a week or two.
Thanks for the upload
The soundtrack needs boosting.
So a flood alert is sent out from the same sirens as the nuke alert, but just with slightly different timings of the wails? What could possibly go wrong there? "Oi Doris - does that siren mean the local library basement is flooded again, or are we just about to be fried?"
Someone doesn't understand the role of sirens
Hard to hear.... ironic.
Sarmat - from launch 202 seconds to total wipeout of UK. Good luck with your warning system 😂
This video is from the 1980's 🙄
