I love how after reading and watching series a lot of times you can really see that Izaya just needs normal life and friends. He is so fucking jelous of so much things in series. Keeps trying to take Namie to various places but she keeps saying no to him. He has Shizu-chan complex and wants to beat him up but at the same time spend time with him. He is such a twisted chatacter. It really reminds of real people in real life.
Yeah he is "damn flea" and I hate him for what he is doing to the poor Ikebukuro citizens but at the same time I love him as a character he presents.
Does that even make any sense at all?

listening to this song, it really makes me sad that the only side of izaya we see is him being manipulative. this song obviously states that there is more to him than that. all we ever see is him as a twisted mind, and i really wish we couldve seen more of this side of him, someone who wants humans(or maybe a specific human to love him back? who knows) to love him back. he may be the antagonist, but theres more to him then just messing with people

I know you probably won't see this but for people who will, the light novels adress his character much better. Anime really butchered him, removing his most important scenes that made him seem human.

I still can’t believe it’s been years and I still listen to this.
So many people misunderstand him and mistake him for a villain. But no one, and I am saying it again. NO ONE can be as beautiful as him. What people see isn’t really who Izaya is he is so pure and so hurt people don’t understand. This makes me so emotional I just want to hug him.
I still don't quite get that part of "since you'll forget me, at the same time, I'll be able to meet you soon" ....I have a feeling that whoever Izaya is singing this to (shizuoshizuoshzi) he's hoping for them to forget about him, the horrible Izaya, and will come back as a new, good person. And when that time comes, he's finally ready to face everything...?

What I got from it was that Izaya is saying "You'll forget me soon, so I'll have to come back and make you remember me." Every time Shizuo starts to not think about Izaya, he'll return to keep reminding Shizuo that he's there. That Shizuo can't forget him.

There is something in the song that just speaks to your heart. The emotions that it carries tells you a lot about Izaya as a person. I can't seem to be able to stop listing to it.
I really think Izaya's singing about Shizuo here, and not just because I ship Shizaya. I think he's singing about wishing that Shizuo could forget him so that he could meet him again, because he wants to start over with Shizuo and see if their relationship will become anything but hatred. Friendship is what I think Izaya's aiming for with this song, whether he's singing about Shizuo... or all of humanity.

I think so too. I even think that he wanted to become friends with him when he saw Shizu the first time in high school...remember the scene when he was looking down at him before Shinra introduced them? He had an eye for him before he knew him. But then Shizu just simply said that he didnt like Izaya when they got introduced, I can imagine that made him sad /: Soo in order to still get his attention...he decided to mess around with him and annoy him, cause he thought he would have no chance in becoming friends with him. And to not show anyone how deeply hurt he truly is because of this, he simply says he hates him, cause he thinks Shizu hates him... its actually pretty sad

I love this song it gives me the feeling of just graduating high school. That nostalgia tainted by longing, that we're all going our separate ways and even those who know everything about me when I was 17 know nothing about me now; I exist as a ghost in a yearbook picture and it's so depressing.

I imagine he never wanted to be enemies with Shizuo to begin with. He had an eye on him even before they got introduced to each other (when Izaya looked down to him in high school) and already found him to be more interesting than his average human. But Shizuo never gave him a chance to properly prove himself and instead turned him down immediately by saying he doesnt like him when Shinra introduced them.. Poor Izaya, he never meant to become Shizu's enemy /:

Isaias Ureta manami is the novel version of rio (ie izaya formed a suicide pact with her). rio is an anime only character, and manami is the "true character" that should've been animated instead of rio. in durarara!!2 x Ten, manami will be shown in the first episode along with izaya in the hospital!

Ah. I honestly think, reading the lyrics, that its Shizuo who he's singing too. Actually, a lot of his songs that he sings about love and such have proof of that, like his character song "whatever you like." Then again, I may be wrong, even if I think I am extremely correct.
I definitely think this and his other song allude to Shizuo, I mean the lyrics seem to fit him the most out of anyone else indeed. While it is debatable if Izaya has an unrequited love for Shizuo I definitely think his feelings are way more complicated than hate.

I believe Izaya is referring to how since everyone has already met him, they have already formed opinions of him. Obviously since they were not very good opinions, he wants them to forget so everyone could start all over. I believe he is mostly talking to Shizuo at that part since it was hate at first sight but Izaya wasn't the one who instigated their kill on sight relationship.

E Roesler Well, that line is really confusing. If he meant Shizuo with that line he possibly pointed out that he won't let Shizuo forget him... Like: 'When you're going to forget me I will meet you again so you won’t forget who I am/ If you have forgotten me already I'll meet you and make me unforgettable for you'. But that 'change-the-point of-view-thing' makes propably more sense than what I thought... but, at the same time it doesn't. Izaya don't seem to care about the point of view humans see him as long as they see him ( like that I don't care if I exist in heaven or in purgatory as long as I exist thing...) so I don’t believe in that. But in relation to what I thought, why wasn't Izaya able to met Shizuo/whoever before? I really don't get it... just so confusing. That one word 'able' destroyed my whole theory D:.
