  • The making of the village well dressing celebrating Imbolc one of the festivals in the Celtic 8 point Wheel of the Year. Imbolc marks the mid point between the winter solstice and the vernal (Spring) equinox. Imbolc was a time for people to celebrate new beinings. they would cleans their homes customs inclued celebrating with fires and decorating homes with flowers and other symbols of spring including weaving Brigids Crosses from reads as depicted in the well dressing. The village of Marsden (West Yorkshire) Decorates its well each year and periodicaly holds a fire festivals at Imbolc.
