WATCH: Tampa Police chase man throughout city before deadly shootout

- At 5:40 p.m., officers spotted Bresnahan driving near Dale Mabry Highway and Spruce Street and began following him. Eight minutes later, he pointed the gun at the officers, who then chased him, Bercaw said. Officers attempted to stop the chase using spike strips, but Bresnahan drove around them. The pursuit was headed northbound on Florida Avenue when he crashed into a blue car - occupied by both a driver and passenger - near the intersection of Gladys Street. According to Bercaw, immediately after the crash, Bresnahan opened fire on TPD officers. Eighteen officers returned fire, striking and killing the man.
One moment you’re driving down the road normally, 2 seconds later you’re in a car crash, 2 more seconds and you’re in the middle of a gun fight, with no gun.
You come to Florida they don't play games out there you shoot at the sheriff . cops or staite. either stupid crazy dumb.. you made this happen to yourself. all you had to do is stop 🛑.. chargers the way it. is.. you want to put up a gunfight with the cops out there you're you're going to jail for a very long time. All you do is pull over.. answer questions and do some paperwork show your driver's license and that will be it.. do you want to go crazy in a vehicle that didn't end too well did it

@@barowt The two people in the sedan were not injured in the firefight. Michael Bresnahan had stabbed his wife 13 times, when she would not leave a woman's shelter with him. Bresnahan took the three kids, 2, 5, & 6, who witnessed the stabbing to his brother's house where he stole his AK-47. Leaving the kids at the brother's house, he went on the chase until the crash. Apparently he died of a self-inflicted gunshot, but nothing was said if he had been mortally wounded by police as well. The wife survived, but with serious injuries.

Also, the suspect took his life, but was absolutely hit by the officer’s bullets and may have still been alive when he was shot again as the autopsy reported. Are you always this ignorant? 😂 Read the report, wonderful display of police work!

For the most part, no shots hit the car with the lady in it from the police, all into the SUV. There may have been one shot in the back window of the sedan. However, it could be the suspect or one officer. If it was that officer, where he was standing could not have possibly gone near where the lady was in the car.

Here, we're used to car chases and cars crashing or once in a blue moon there's a shootout but nothing this terrifying. Holy smokes!
I also have to point out how the camera was recording this whole thing. It looked like something out of a video game. We have steady cams and zoom in and out ALOT lol.
Both of the helicopters you saw footage from here are using FLIR systems that are gyro-stabilized. The zoom capabilities of these systems are significantly greater than what you saw in this video.
