Man, this series has become a tradition for me to watch every month, I'm going to miss it when it ends. Anyways, thanks for making it!
And thats when the WYWH series starts
@@barrondaly5803 please let this be true
@@barrondaly5803 then Animals then the Wall
I ditto that
Barron Daly I sure hope so
When you tell a joke to your parents and they turn it into a lecture... that's how this song was born
😂😂
kinda proves the last line of the album, “There is no dark side of the moon really, and matter of fact its all dark”
That's why that lines always meant so much to me. Any colour you like just as long as its; money, religion, insanity or modern mundanity. Just don't forget to Breathe.
it's all dark ? always has been
@Chahine Kasmi Dammit you beat me to it!
''It's the sun that lights it all up!''
The moon emits its own light.
I once heard someone say that “Dark Side of The Moon is the best album ever, but it isn’t the best Pink Floyd album.” That totally made sense to me.
My favorite Floyd album is “Piper at the Gates of Dawn”. It’s a bit harder to get into, but it takes me back into the world of childhood. Daydreaming, nursery rhymes and children’s fairy tales. Pink Floyd wouldn’t have been as famous if Syd Barrett had stayed with them, but he definitely produced some of their greatest work.
@@nickcharles6530 No band could continue to flourish if they stayed the same.
.
I think that's called The Pink Floyd paradox. Dark side of the Moon is the best album of all time but animals is the best Pink Floyd album. IMHO
When your out, usually in a bar, which album songs gets played more, DSotM or Animals?
😒
fm00078 please name the bars in which they play pink floyd, I will move to this area immediately
This serie is amazing.
I'm sad it's coming to an end...
But who did this should be really f*cking proud.
Congrats
Polyphonic should use this consept on some other album
@@alanparsons994 YES, maybe every other Floyd album
@@Kombi-1 My beautiful Dark Twisted fantasy
@@alanparsons994 Radiohead's Kid Amnesiac (or Kid A + Amnesiac) or Demon Days by Gorillaz would be pretty wicked.
Oh my god brain damage/eclipse is almost here
They've been up for like a month on Nebula
@@fuduzan5562 i know but i don't want to pay for nebula just for this show
@@wardippy226 same. We're pretty much broke
Any colour, braindamage and eclipse is in my head the absolutely best part of dsom. Or any album for that matter 😊
@@heavymeddle28 and everything under the Sun is in tune but the Sun is eclipsed by the moooooooooonnnnnnnn!!!! - Epic!
Honestly, one of my favourite Floyd tracks, Gilmour's Univibe guitar solo is just so good!
Word
One of my favorites, too. My only complaint: it isn't long enough!
The way he intertwined two guitar solos in the one is something that has never been eclipsed by another guitarist
I only recently found out that it's not actually a Uni-Vibe! In a rather recent video, he demonstrates some crazy huge effect processor that he used to simulate either the Uni-Vibe (or a Leslie) and that's what came out. I'll try to find it and post the link.
Found it! It's an E.M.S. Synthi HiFLi FX unit. Here's a cool demo. Still haven't found the actual clip with Gilmour fiddling with it. czcams.com/video/EPNHsEcNjEc/video.html
And then God said... Let there be pink floyd!
In all seriousness though, great channel, I'm so glad somebody finally decided break down this entire album. You editing and narrating skills are on point!
You have no idea how many days I checked his page during the entirety of this project, it had me wanting the whole time.
No he said “let there be more light”
(that’s an old Pink Floyd song lol)
Growing up in Fla, my local radio station-- Rock 105-- used to play this album in its entirety, every Aug during the Perseid meteor shower. When I was young, I'd listen to it at my house. But during high school, me and some friends took a boom box out on the beach, dropped some acid, and laid in the sand listening to this album and watching meteors. It was a right of passage of sorts, as I had heard so many stories of people doing that. I'll never forget that night. So thank you for this series-- it has brought back so many memories, and has shed so much light on this iconic album. Polyphonic is my favorite CZcams channel, by far!
sounds like an absolutly astounding experience. listened to part of the album when i popped some shrooms once. had to turn it off, on the run just freaked me the fuck out lol. definetly gonna hear it through if i ever psychadelics again
Your discussion on the significance of the album cover has reminded me how much we've lost in the era of digial music. There's no longer anything tangible. No journey to the record store and flipping through the titles. No slow read through the artwork, lyrics and dedications. It really fractures the experience. We buy single songs rather than full compositions, and shatter the vision and impact of cohesive works like Dark Side of the Moon. It's convenient to have access to music from anywhere at any time, sure. But there's a lot I miss in the excitement and acquisition of a new release when record stores were the main way to buy music.
In my mind this song is kaleidoscopic, deep purples and greens, with little energetic arcs of gold.
Whenever I hear this song on acid I have the feeling the song is what the universe would sound like if it could play music. Not sure why, maybe cause its abstract and has a playful vibe, also there is no main flow, but a bunch of individual sources contributing to the whole piece.
In the words of a high school friend upon hearing this song for the first time, "Damn, this shit is jamming, man. The whole universe playing a gig right here and now in my basement"
@@JMoore-vo7ii Hahah happy to know I-m not the only one who had this impression
5:52 The spectrum of light blended with the spectrum of sound.
For me, this is the best song of the album. The live performances of this song, especially the BBC version, is one of the most amazing live records ever made.
Once it's done, Polyphonic should put all the episodes into a playlist
This was such a good analysis of such an overlooked song. can't wait for the final episode! great job, dude!
Wait, it's all blue?
Always has been
lmfao
I love that line, “But they’re all blue.” I also love the way Polyphonic puts it, in the large scale of things we can’t control. Although I also see it as the things people in modern society can control, on an individual level . There are so many choices of what people can wear, and what music they listen to, but many choose the same things as other people, to choose what’s popular, in order to fit in. In other words, they have so many colors to choose from, but they all choose blue.
It’s the sad reality of a society losing it’s individual uniqueness from one person to the next, and instead gaining one personality that everyone adheres to. There’s no telling people apart from the things they like and dislike and their opinions on certain issues, if something’s popular then the one personality of society likes it to. (In other words everybody says they like it, in order to fit into that one large group)
I can't wait for the next episode! Thank you for making this series!
This is my favorite track on the record. Nothing compares to the transition from Us and Them when you're super high
Time while on molly is... Is.... So beautiful and it hits so hard that you'll cry. Especially when you're listening to on the run, it almost gives you a panic attack, but then the clocks bring you back.
This is amongst the best songs I have ever heard, bouncy, trancy, bluesy and synth-y at the same time.
This series is the best you’ve ever done. It’s amazing. I can’t believe there isn’t a deal out there to make this a full length feature documentary.
Only this channel can make a detailed analysis based on a completely instrumental song. This channel is truly amazing.
I remember always seeing the Album cover at restaurants and just random places. I hadn’t heard of Pink Floyd or anything. But the Album cover always just had this powerful impression on me. I didn’t know what it meant. I just knew it was something unique
This is the one I've been waiting for, weird as it may be... this was always my favorite track on the album.
Any colour you like is my favorite PF song, the recording is amazing and it’s just so beautiful to me
you're the only channel that I genuinely get excited to watch videos from. keep up the great work!!
I'm so proud of you dude, you've worked so hard on this series and ive enjoyed every second of it. Your almost done with the album, i'm rooting for you!
Top o the mornin to ya, its the dark side o the moon
their live performance of any colour you like on the pulse album is a JAM AND A HALF
So grateful for these uploads!!
This video is my favorite off the Dark Side series. You are great man! Great content!
continuous, elegant work, man, thank you so much
Amazing video once again. Beautiful project! Thank you!
Love your stuff Man! You tell the stories of my life through the music I grew up on and in. Wow, I salute your work.
As someone going through high school trying to figure out what to do with my life, this video really put it in another perspective
You aren't trying to figure it out, you are figuring it out. Much love homie, good luck to you
Well done. Your series is well crafted and beautifully written.
I'll hope this series will live on as the album itself.
Was literally watching one of you videos and ended up getting a notification that you uploaded lol. Amazing video! Can't wait for the climax to this masterpiece.
This channel always blows me away.
Been waiting for a new episode!!! Never clicked so fast!;
I really loved this series^^ especially since it tackles with the themes of All of Humanity's Struggles; Questions of the meaning of life, Anxiety, Time, Death, Greed, War, Choice and lastly Morality. I've heard this album so many times but I've never grown tired of it, It's always gotten better and better. This album is what a true masterpiece should always be.
Also I'll really miss this series! since I jumped on board back when Time was the lastest video on this series, I gotta say it's been a ride and I appreciated this a lot^^ Thanks Polyphonic^^
This project is probably my favorite THING ever... Very, very well done.
Another great piece! So thorough
i had never realized breathe and any colour you like had the same rhythm thats insane lol
I must say I love jamming along to this song. Once you get the right effect dialed in it’s great.
your Ending Monologue Never fails to give me chills, Keep up the great Work man!
Never clicked on a video so fast. Been waiting of this! These vids are awesome!
Killer! Stellar work per usual!!
I always forget that this series exists for a month and whenever i see a new video in my timeline i get super excited and happy
The bass on this track is insannnnne. It sounds like a rubbery gong.
This is the greatest project on CZcams ever. Thank you!
Been waiting for this release since more than 2 months. Any Colour You Like is my all-time favourite musical piece!
So excited, one of my fave songs of all time
Favourite song on the album, psychedelic masterpiece
I'm looking forward to when you upload the final video in this series.
I want to watch your Dark Side of the Moon videos the same way the album itself should be listened to: in one continuous viewing.
Great video, as always
This is the most elegant, clean, and graphic video you've ever made.
As always, exceptional.
good stuff from back in the day when artists made ALBUMS
I love all your videos, and I really was curious to hear how this song thematically fit the album aside from directly relating to the artwork. But I would have liked to hear a little more about the music, and how it changed through its development. I know the early performances didn't sound like the final product, it was very different just like Great Gig in The Sky, and On The Run
Finally someone did a great analysis for this song. Thank you man👍
These DSOTM analysis makes me love the album even more than I do already. It’s my favorite ever!!!
After you do "Dark Side of the Moon" you should make a video about "Dogs" from animals
I think your content is really good also
I’ve been waiting on this episode forever
great video! thank you
I definitely miss the thoughtful packaging that used to be part of listening to an album. Now, most of the music is written as a one-shot, meant to be streamed. And the best CDs dont compare to the old gatefold-n-insert packaging of the 70s.
My personal favourite track on DSOTM - so trance like and ethereal, it’s Wright at his very best.
I think a comparison worth making is "Childhoods End" from Obscured by Clouds, it breaks the fourth wall in almost the same way as Time. Also similar to Time is the lyrics, one of the few songs written by David Gilmour, it's meaning is about observing life as we move on.
"You shouuuut in your sleep"
Chills at the end
My favorite song is just perfect !
Amazing series on perhaps the most amazing album
This series has been keeping me going though 2020.
One of my favorite songs off the album
Love the channel and loving this series, you should totally make a piece on the Waters solo album Amused To Death, such an underrated album that has so much to say about current times. Also, isn’t it weird that there’s no Rolling Stones video yet lol anyways, great work
How did I never realize this was a Breathe reprise???
best song on the album with breathe and great gig in the sky
A masterful essay. Cheers. G
amazing!
It's strange for me to believe this series is coming to an end. The day you posted Speak to Me/Breathe, was also the day I originally got my new furniture for my room which I am currently in. This series has been the thing that originally got me into watching your channel. I have really been binge watching your content because it's so interesting to me. I do have to ask, the way, your style in the animation of these videos, how do you make it such great quality in just a month?
Regards of if you do Pink Floyd again, I'll still be watching your content, and try to expand my music tastes with it, for example, getting into jazz some more.
Thank you
Man I love polyphonic.
Late to this party, i am loving the whole series about one of the greatest albums of all times and surely one of my favourite, since i discovered PF in 1978 when i was only 10.
Pink Floyd is by far my favorite band, thank you for making this series.
Man. Everytime I see a new video from polyphonic.. I know the thumbs up will be hit.
Wow...well done♥️
i'm gonna be blunt. you're a freaking genius. thank you for this.
One of the greatest albums ever made!
WOW, just WOW!
this is very illustrating. For me, this song was a caleidoscopic sonic experience, and the song title made it justice. There is a rainbow theme on the album as well (prism), so it was always the most "colorful" track. Funny it means the exact opposite hahaha.
Once again....very insightful bro. Can't wait for Brain Damage/Eclipse!
Great project for the best album of all time
In slovakia we have band "Bez ladu a skladu" who wrote song: Everyone write with a blue pen!
There won’t be any other color!
Everyone write all the same!
Same A, same O.
Same font, same distances!
Everyone buy blue ink!
It was year before the fall of iron curtain.
Best music content on CZcams
The artwork in all of your channel is both amazing and mesmerizing. Got any wallpapers? Would love to get a few.
That’s deep man
Brilliant
This song grew up on me. I especially love the '72 Live at Brighton version.
I love this jam - D Dorian/Dm Pentatonic - Lovely to Jam on with Guitar and/or Keys
I'm really eagerly waiting for you to drop "Brain Damage/Eclipse" (let's hope that's gonna be a single video ;-)) after which I'm gonna watch the whole series from the top. Love this channel!
This series is the only thing i looked forward to the entirety of 2020 lol
