Would love to see a series like this for Animals
Yes, there's a lot to say about that album
Maybe pipers at the gates of dawn?
Totally second you. Their second greatest masterpiece. Dogs would easily do for two episodes
That whole album was a "fuck you" to English society as a whole lmao
I need to one one on my favorite song, Dogs
Us and Them has one of the greatest choruses in all of music, hands down.
Facts are facts
This isn’t my favourite song from DSotM but I defo agree with this 👍
@@rhys.cunningham4179 in fairness brain damage is also in contention for that tittle
It is hard to argue with facts
@James Austen totos africa is africa isnt even in the same league as us and them
something like this wouldnt at all be out of place on netflix
Or on nebula ;)
@Alex Damn, go off
I treat every polyphonic video like a movie. You cant find better content on all of youtube. Love the work. Espesially this dark side series. Thanks
You should check out a channel called Lemmino, same kind of videos only that its not about musi, but about, well, anything
Zobban you know what, I was also going to suggest Lemmino and then I just saw your comment. Haha. Bless you brother.
@harry199 I was going to mention Ahoy and his video essays but you already did it, so good job on knowing other good content.
Zobban LEMMINO!!!! I’ve been watching him since his name was TopTenMemes
I mean there is content that is up there close.
Like the train sax fight, that's a good one.
*watches analytical breakdown of Pink Floyd's 'Us and Them'*

Irony 100
It makes me happy that there are other people that view Us and Them as their favorite PF song
Pink floyd album staples:
-Female backing singer
-couple of ridiculously awsome guitar solos
-tons of social criticism
-the songs flow into eachother
-people get high while listening to it
-atleast 1 anti war song, almost always written by roger waters
We don't talk about the dogs of war...
every pink floyd song was written by roger though
The dogs of war is good though...
getting high and listening to pink floyd especially dark side of the moon is an experience to LIVE by.
Roger has a strong background in feelings. Lucky for US the other 3, THEM, had talents to meld those feelings into powerful sounds & flowing feelings. I'm always blown away at the overall production of these compositions. I dabble a bit in my personal songs, IT'S NOT EASY. With OH SO MANY snippets of sounds they acuired, it must have been hectic with 4 different personas.
I'm so lucky to have been born in the time of Big Band era. In a different but similar way, PF music was like Big Band power. Both moved you.
@@captain9470 Almost all written by Roger.
The others had songs but the overall texture of those didn't fit in 'that' album. Sure there was conflict, but like the Beach Boys Brian Wilson, when the whole tune is in your head, you're basically set to complete it almost as is.
Us and them is one of the most beautiful song ever made. Chords and lyrics are just, made for each other.
Musically, lyrically, and thematically, this album just _works._ It is just as relevant now as when it was first released in 1973.
I work in a rehearsal studio. Last night, after the bands were gone, I played this on the speakers and played along with my bass. There was something beautiful about being alone in intimacy with this song. Felt bittersweet.
I love chilling and playing along to this song. Even better if you have a friend playing guitar.
The first time listening to Dark Side was underwhelming to me. I didn’t understand the hype until I heard Us & Them. The emotion, the power, the music. I saw the bigger picture come together and every time I listen to the song, I feel that first listening and euphoria.
It was intoxicating and opened my eyes to Pink Floyd and I’ve been a die hard for the last 5 years
@kolo it is if you only listen to side 2. It comes after "Money"
On side 1, I felt like "Breath" was an emotional breath of fresh air and "The Great Gig in the Sky" is haunting!
Man I know it's late to comment on this but,
This is exactly how I felt when I was told to listen to the album, every song somehow felt like it didn't hit the mark until I heard Us and Them and finally I figured out what it was all about.
And now I don't think anybody is going to touch the throne of being my favourite band of all time other than Pink Floyd
I'm so glad you discovered them.
Bliss.
@kolo bruh
And after all were just ordinary men
Even Micah?
@@juicebox9465 He is the man with the gun
Not Seamus, that’s the dog
'Us And Them', was just as religious an experience for me...as, 'The Great Gig In The Sky' was. Being 13 years old in 1980, the first time my older cousin played,'The Dark Side Of The Moon', for me, right after listening to his newly purchased vinyl 'The Wall'...was so utterly profound...that I walked away literally shaking from the experience. And I didn't even understand the lyrics at that time. After playing 'The Wall' album, and being able to see how moved I was...he said..."If you think that was good...wait until you hear this one", (referring to 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' album). I have never looked at life...the same way again...since that day, in early Summer 1980.
Short answer: we are living in a society the musical
Imagine if the Joker movie had Pink Floyd in the background. The movie would be so much more godly. Everyone's rioting at the end and us and them plays. That wouldve been absolutely amazing
@@danielisraeli9924but they still hit the nail with White Room
“The want of a price for tea and a slice, the old man died...”
“WANT A BREAK FROM THE ADS??????”
My favorite song from one of my favorite albums ever recorded. The struggle of conflict is portrayed so beautifully. Still so relevant today. (Race and class conflict, etc).
Roger may have been an insufferable prick, but he was a damn good lyricist able to tap into the heart of human nature.
People are complex.
Why do you say that he is an insufferable prick. What did he do ?
@@amramin2134 Reading about how he treated everyone around him.
@@amramin2134 Fired Wright, for starters.
@@amramin2134 Doesnt like jews/israel either, which is obviously a bad thing.
@@markopelaa no he doesnt like genocide and ethnic cleansing, big difference
I was gonna watch this but realized I had my curtains open, I got up and closed them before starting the video. These videos deserve it.
I’ve said for years “Us and Them”, is one of, if not, the best Pink Floyd song.
I CANT WAIT FOR ANY COLOUR YOU LIKE MY FAVORITTTTEEE
It’s great to jam along to with your phaser pedal going crazy.
Ehhhhhh... Mine too!!!
Possibly the best song on the greatest album ever. The world needs Dark Side of the Moon just as much right now as it did in the 1970s.
Bro. The fact that there’s a snippet of “So What” in the first 5 minutes of the video, made my day
THE TIME HAS COME
THE TIME HAS COME
THE TIME HAS COME
TODAY
Even though Us And Them is only my third favourite song from the Dark Side album, it is still I think one of the most well put-together pieces of music in history. Us and Them is blessed with vocals from Richard Wright along with Gilmour's. I don't know, something about the both of them singing together with an eargasmic tune in the background makes me feel other-worldly. They are loud, yet calming. Making big statements with the smallest note. The saxophone, the piano, vocals, lyrics. 'Perfection' is the only word that can do justice to this album.
Us and Them was my parent’s first dance song at their wedding.
Thats awesome
Interesting choice ..
This album has stood the test of time and is still relevant in our world today.
Absolute Classic record!
Any colour you like, for me, is the orgasm of the whole album. After so many words and sounds has been shared its left for the music to leave you to reflect upon it all.
I found DSOTM after I understood Jimi Hendrix to not be a bunch of noise, but to use music as a painting. ACYL for me is the summix of everything expressed before put in a relaxed state of anguish and subtle rage that does seem to take on different colours. It's my favourite song on the whole album and I'm on pins and needles to hear how it gets interpreted
I need you to do a video on how Miles Davis made Bitches Brew. Jazz Fusion is a very fascinating genre
I need a Miles Davis videos on Kind of Blue, Sketches of Span, and Bitches Brew. He is the Picasso of Jazz.
That's a fascinating story. In short, Teo Macero actually made Bitches Brew, editing/cutting the sessions Miles and his band did. What you hear on the album wasn't played like that, but the editing is so clean you can't tell where the cuts are.
@@teddyfurstman1997 Polyphonic did one on Kind of Blue I think.
@@cnking27 He did. I watched it the other day.
Us and Them is my favourite song by Pink Floyd and I credit Richard Wright for that, because when I say song I realize it's sung, but being music as well as me being a musician: I care more about the music than the lyrics. While I love the lyrics of Us and Them I love the music of this song even better. Its for that reason I think that Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here are the four best Floyd albums ever: they're the best and last four albums to have four members writing. Thanks for posting.
i really appreciate this series on Dark Side of the Moon. some people see it as overrated but to me it means alot
this is exactly what i needed.
Definitely my favorite track from Dark Side. Its so incredibly emotional, and it was the song made me fall in love with Pink Floyd
I have this song on my playlist right before “Wearing the Inside Out,” and it’s the best thing ever.
This album is one of the greatest achievements of the 20th century...
I am wholly curious as to what about Any Colour You Like would requisite it having a video on its own, especially considering its lack of lyrics. I’m excited!
I have probably listened to this song hundreds of times, and it still gives me chills.
This is really good man. I would like to help and add spanish subtitles to the whole series if you don't mind. More people should be able to see this.
In my early 20's I dropped acid for the first and last time. I ended up laying in bed wide awake with dark side of the moon on repeat. I had no concept of what adequate volume was so I laid there with my boom box on full blast... This song would give me a moment of reprieve from my bad trip.
Then "Time" bells and the fast heart beat sound after would put me right back into it as I would forget EVERY single time.
That was brilliant... really looking forward to the rest of this series.
i have waited so long for this. keep them coming
Amazing video as always
Excellent as usual.
Your work is awesome. I look forward to these videos when they come out. This dark side project is absolutely amazing.
The one I was waiting for
Your analysis and editing are on point! This is crazy good!
First time this came on I was on acid and just started sobbing when the chorus came on. Just beautiful song
this is so well produced and put together. truly amazing. i'm looking forward to the next parts already!
Us and them gave me butterflies when first listened to no other song had ever done that or has done that
Amazing video! Very good job!
I’ve been waiting for this one. It’s my favorite on the album.
I'm so hyped for Brain Damage, one of my favourite songs.
I can't get enough of this. Please...I'm begging you..keep going on more PF albums. It's a masterpiece. I tell so many people about this series!
Amazing video you def have a passion for music I love it
Just found this and subscribed. I've been listening to this album for over 40 years, and it's still one of my favourites. Incredible work. Thank you!
Another slam dunk! Can’t wait for your next video!
as always, you made an awesome video
This is the best music series, there is so much work in these videos and we really enjoy watching
Love your channel dude!
Polyphonic, you're great. You make great content. But I have to say, the volume of some of your videos could use work. Some of your videos have a volume that is far too low for some devices, like this one here. If a listener is basically required to get another device like speakers or headphones, then it probably should be louder. The other issue is that the volume of your voice compared to the music sections are far off from each other. Your voice is so quiet and hard to hear and the music sections are blasting compared to them. If a listener needs to ride the volume and massively adjust for each section, then the volumes are not balanced with each other. Again, love your channel and I hope you take in this feedback. Thanks.
Oh thank you. I thought I was having issues. Had to turn my system way up to hear the V/O.
Yes I agree completely.
Nah, it really is the volume of his videos. I have to turn it up so fast to hear him, and then turn it back down equally as fast to not blast my headphones.
I want to thank you for these.
They have been some of my favorite youtube videos about my favorite band. They are professionally done and very informative & entertaining.
I love the fact that i love all the dark side of the moon's album but you can make me love it even more in every single video you make about it...
You are truly talented, never doubt that!
WITH ALL HONESTY I BELIEVE THAT POLYPHRONIC IS EASILY TJEHE BEST MUSIC CHANNEL IN CZcams. YOU TEACH ME SO MUCH WITH YOUR VIDS. YOU ARE AMAZING KEEP GOING!
I've been waiting for this one
I just discovered this series today and it is amazing i cant wait for these last 2 videos
The editing in your videos in phenomenal honestly. You are amazing and thank you for these very easy to understand and beautiful documentary type videos. They are a very powerful source of knowledge. Keep up the amazing work
This Project has been amzing so far. Its so interesting and in depth. Can't wait to see the last two episodes.
I've been following the series closely, and I must say Bravo man.
I'm most excited for Any Colour You Like... can't wait!
I never actually thought about or looked up the songs lyrics, but after hearing this analysis the chorus really shook me
I'm a first time viewer of your content and thoroughly enjoyed this. I just subscribed and look forward to checking out more of your stuff.
The visuals in this video are incredible!
"I begin to think, that a calm is not desirable in any situation in life. Every object is beautiful in motion; a ship under sail, trees gently agitated with the wind, and a fine woman dancing, are three instances in point. Man was made for action and for bustle too, I believe." - Abigail Adams (Letter to her sister, Mary Smith Cranch 1784)
I love this so much! I'm so sad I didn't know it was posted until a week later.
Us and Them is one of my all time favorite songs. I love this video.
It's finally here❤️
Definitely my favourite track in the album. Absolutely love this series, keep up the great work!
coooool cant wait for the remainder of the album, this series is so fucking awesome
Hey again, I've been waiting this!
During the middle 8 (or "chorus") David Gilmour sung the melody, Richard Wright was double tracked singing the lower two harmonies below the melody Gilmour sang and the girls sung on top of them were another three parts, totalling six vocal parts. Also: After Wright (the composer)'s piano solo during Dick Parry's Sax Solo: Wright continues to solo. If you wanna hear it clearly: listen to the quadraphonic version of the DSMOM. If you love this song as much as I think yo already do it'll be pure bliss. You're welcome.
Has to be my favourite from the album and arguably one of 3 best song from them.
This is probably my all-time favorite album, and I have been absolutely loving your series. Your explanations are insightful, and your graphics are very cool. I’m very much looking forward to the next video; “Any Colour You Like” is my personal favorite. Keep up the brilliant work!!
DSOTM is one such album even God listen to hear n see what's happening in his creation world since 1973 ( album release )
And beyound flashbacks since ww 1.
This project is just amazing
This has always been my favorite song on the album.
I love this channel more and more
That's what I love about this song. Each note 🎵 draws out my emotional state of being.
Good job man !
brilliant. going to have to watch this again and pay closer attention. alot worth thinking about related to conflict. no matter how it’s approached, we all know the astoundingly simple truth of any conflict.
I have been on CZcams for as long as it has existed. I genuinely think that this is the best content on the platform hands down
Thank you for this series. I've always been a huge PF fan. But never grasped or enjoyed all the nuances of DSoTM as much as I do now.
Beautiful
the quality of this video is absolutely incredible. thank you very much
i fucking love your editing man, its so beautiful and documentary worthy
The statement you make at the 8 minute and 8 second mark is powerful! Thank you so much for this series and your thoughts and work.
This video is one of the best ones I've ever seen. In documentaries, they don't talk in detail about how historical groups composed songs and in this video is explained idealy. 👌
One of my favorite songs of all time. The first time I listened to it I got goosebumps and had tears in my eyes from the beauty of the chorus. Such a special and personal moment in an album every one enjoys.
Wish you were here is such a good album, the five albums from the 70s are all masterpieces.
The sound of the kick drum on this song is absolutely stunning. Warm, round and really massive in the low end while being unobtrusive at the same time. You don’t really notice it until you really listen to it. Awesome.
LETS GOOOOO one of my favorite all time songs
I love this so much
my favorite song of all time. that chorus fucking HITS
I've waited a long time for this
Worth it!
