Impossible Princess is a 💯 must listen! Her 'indie' phase. It's her most personal and experimental album. The lyrics, the songs, the production (!) all top-tier.
Fever is also essential - a *classic* dance-pop album. The songs, the production, the vocals, the videos, the overall aesthetic - absolute slayage.

Haven't seen anybody mention this, but this was Kylie's big comeback album after recovering from breast cancer. And even though I think this album has aged rather well, I remember people reacting kinda lukewarm to it at the time. Songs like "In My Arms" and "Wow" were pretty universally well loved, but the more experimental tracks were controversial. But listening to it now it's apparent how forward thinking Kylie was

My acting coach gave me this album as a birthday gift when it was released. Still Kylie's most consistent and catchiest album. Such strong hooks. One bop after another. What an inspired, post-cancer, celebratory album. My favorite from her discography.

Madonna used to publish iTunes playlists of songs she likes and was inspired by during this time, and she put Speakerphone on one and said it should've been a single. That pushed sales of the song for a while. Nudity as well.
This album was rushed due to time constraints with her contract and still being in recovery from cancer. Kylie was disappointed with the production, saying it wasn't as polished asshe wanted it to be, but the best they could do with the time they had.
The cover art and the name of the album was what fans wanted. X is ten, for her tenth album, and people were making fan art with X as the name, and that with the David Bowie themed ones were chosen in the end. I think the album was supposed to be called either Cosmic or a White Diamonds, I forget, but I'm sure someone will comment.
Pet Shop Boys said they wouldn't work with her, and some songs were censored out of some regions copies, which is some of the chaos in wake of getting this album out in time, and why Speakerphone likely wasn't a single as it appeared on only Japan, region 1, region 2 and some region 4 copies if I remember correctly.
This era, along with Body Language, had great remixes and singles with b-sides. The album BOOMBOX is worth a listen.
    And The One is great.

Kylie's had many terrific eras and albums, but X to me struck the perfect balance between being commercial while going into some experimental and adventurous territories that I would have never expected from her. The tour was arguably her best as well. To-date, "In My Arms" is still my favorite song from her. Everything about this album and era was perfection to me.

Definitely we need more Kylie!! It was hilarious how the tititititin sound of The One was pushing you out of the song😅 i find it cute and love that song. Best version is the Aphrodite live one, where a loop of harp arpeggios are added to the mix to give it more celestial vibes. A cool album with cool tracks, in the Xtour, the live version of almost all of this album, she gives the strenght that some songs needed (No more rain) and others just go to heaven (Speakerphone, Like a Drug). Was obssessed with the version of Come Into My World from that tour.

Love this album reaction, and absolutely love your videos and your adorable reactions! So, this album was released just after Kylie had gotten over having Cancer, and some of these songs are of how she felt going through the whole "C" journey, how she was scared and lonely, to how she felt after her treatment for it, but basically it's a heartfelt comeback and she tries to tell her story through some of these songs, with a few dance bops thrown in. Perhaps this wiki page could explain it better than I ever could haha en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_(Kylie_Minogue_album)

You MAY have done this already and I just don't know it yet, BUT... if you haven't looked into Kylie's sister Dannii, that's fun for any number of reasons.... doooo iiiiit. lol (Primarily I would say "I Begin to Wonder" -- which when I first heard it on the radio back on the day for some reason I legit thought it was Darren Hayes [lol] maybe you'll get it, maybe you won't--but "Vibe On" is honestly kind of iconic as well.)

    There's something weird about Kylie:
She has, between other stuff, collaborated with Towa Tei (twice!), and mĂșm. She's also gotten remixes from Yasutaka Nakata (twice!!), and Mat Zo.
Besides these weird choices: For Aphrodite, she got Stuart Price as the executive producer of the album, with the specific purpose of finding producers that would match the sound she was looking for. This, along with a crystal clear idea of where she wanted to take the album, resulted in an extremely cohesive aural experience most artists would kill for.
These choices hint towards her having a clear idea of the producers that stand out the most on the scene, and she uses this as a tool to produce highly cohesive album tracks. It also hints that she knows the scene well enough to have a defined music taste, in electronica no less.
Other pop stars don't have such a definite vision for the album and only arrive there by the time the album's done. And they also have trouble finding the right producers for their album, so the production is not really under control either.
So then, why does Kylie decide to make music that will appeal so much to the general public? The answer: She says she's a "showgirl" more than a singer. She has a clear grasp on how to arrive to a particular album sound, but her primary objective is always to move her fans.
If she wanted she could do all sorts of crazy stuff with her music, she just chooses not to.

She also doesn't care about the most popular producers in the scene if they don't produce something unique.
Probably the reason she'll never collab with Marshmello. He's trash :V Maybe she'd manage to collab with deadmau5 instead, but he's very picky himself.

Her weird choices are what makes her stand out and far, far more interesting and artistic. Her legacy will be the nuggets of gold songs generations will find that they never would’ve thought she would do. I don’t remember reading or hearing her say she’s more of a showgirl than a singer

@@scottward7850 I'm pretty sure she has.
She definitely appeals to the public first but her music taste doesn't let her do anything that isn't excellent quality.
She also seems to let photographers do whatever they want with her body. That's why all her promotion pictures look so stylized, she gives control to the person who knows what they're doing. She still has a vision but she's mostly handing over control like she does with her producers.
She didn't do this musically with Kylie Minogue and Impossible Princess but she said she doesn't feel like she's able to get there again.

As much as I love the album, i do feel like the album sequencing is a bit problematic. Star-no more rain- the one could serve so beautifully as the closer to elevate us into the heavenly realm that's the coming of Aphrodite.

X is a frustrating album for me as a fan because there are so many amazing b-sides and leaked demos that are so much better than half of what actually made the album. We were robbed!!!

I know exactly where you’re coming from with “The One” that background noise is too distracting. All I see is you reminds me of one step at a time by Jordin Sparks.
