I think your views of the streakfly are right on the money, I feel exactly the same way and think you've articulated the purpose and value of the streakfly so well in this video. The streakfly is my favourite training tool. No matter the colourway, when I see it on discount, I'm in for another pair, so usually I've two on tap.
Thanks for asking the question "But which is the right one for you?" right away, in the very intro of the video and then follow with the details we must know in order to decide between them ourselves The whole Brazilian shoetube scene at this point (and maybe in other countries too, I don't know) is just so saturated with opinions by influencers and followers alike, and many (not all) just want to shove their beliefs down other people's throats, not only brandwise, but in terms of their favorite fads and trends about shoe types, rotation and etc. It's just good to watch a calm person saying sensible and calm things about the shoes for a change. Since I overpronate a bit , I prefer the Adios because it is the most stable neutral running shoes on the market. The only neutral shoes that have similar stability but it has some sort of plate is the Mizuno Wave Rebellion. But even with the plate I could stillnrun faster in short distances with my Adios 7. Can't wait to try the Adios 8 ! The Takumi Sen 9 seems awesome to try out but I doubt it will have the stability greatness of the Adios and without that, I dont think I can run as fast as I possible can.
Ya, the TS9 is not a stable shoe. It has a very narrow waist and heel and while it is a lower stack of foam… it still has the “platform” feel of Lightstrike Pro, but none of the width that the AP3 has to compensate for that. The A8 is a much more stable shoe. I also think the big rubber forefoot outsole helps with it too as it absorbs some initial footstrike shock and stiffens the shoe laterally much more, helping over pronation (as much as a racing flat can). The A8 is a big upgrade over the A6/7. You are in for a treat when you get a pair!
I have the rebellion and the adios 6, same as the 7 except for the upper, and they are distinct. Rebellion is more comfortable, better for daily runs even if fast. Adios for workouts. You must be very well prepared to use adios for a AM or Marathon.
Very much a trail runner and haven’t run road with intent for about seven years but recently got the Adios 8 . First run I was underwhelmed but I think it was me underperforming as I was tired on the day .second run I got a blister . Third run in better choice of sock I was exquisitely fast . The following run faster l I like these shoes . For quick 10 mile runs they are faultless .
I wouldn’t say faultless, but they are outstanding for said 10mins runs. They really are a shoe you can feel very direct in and get a lot out of the training. Something rare in 2023.
The Streak Fly felt so narrow for me, I loved the feeling of the zoomx however I could feel my feet going over the edge of the foam. I was still shopping for my daily trainers and got a Adizero SL. Recently I got an Invincible 3 for my long runs and started looking for a faster shoe, maybe that'll be the adios
Being a size men’s size 8 and weighing 77 kg I feel the adios 8 will hold up longer over the miles and resilient to compression. Perhaps I’ll get the next iteration of the streakfly

I wish it had more durability as well. I think Nike will add some to the SF2, but I doubt they want to add much weight. The laces in the SF are ok… but light years better than what is in an Adidas Adizero shoe!
Agree. NIke should add some tread to the Streakfly...for "durability". They'd sell more. Some peoople prefer "racing flats" over cusihion of the Alpha or Vapour...
This is a fine line. Adding too much will be added weight. Granted the SF is super light so they have room to work with… but I’ll be curious what they do!
I'm not a Saucony fan and nothing they have made has ever appealed to me...EXCEPT the Sinister. Though Saucony is very hard to find here in Taiwan, so doubt I'll try it until I'm back in the States. I rarely follow anything Hoka does so haven't seen the model you mentioned. Another flat I AM excited about is the Asics Hyper Speed 3, which I should be able to find here when it releases. I will likely do a SF vs A8 vs HS3 when I do get a pair later this year.

Nope. Not at all. Someone else commented on it though. I haven’t run in a Hoka in many years… but maybe. The Asics Hyperspeed Speed 3 is on my radar… and possibly the Saucony Sinister… but I’ll be back with more racing flat vs later this summer… Glad the content was useful/enjoyable!
Just bought a pair of Hoka Cielo Rd. They feel nothing like a traditional Hoka which always felt like boats to me. If you have narrow foot, you may like the Cielos, which I think are based on the DNA of their track spikes. It's a simple shoe. With that slab of PEMA, the Cielos are a blast for short intervals. The knock on them is poor heel lock down which I found to be true as well but work around it. I really want to compare them to the Takumi Sen 10 which this channel looked at in depth.
@nordicwilly6650 I’ve had the Cielo Roads in hand a few times. The Hoka stores here carry the full line. I’m curious… but not enough to try them on or buy them. If they update them this year I’ll definitely cover them. I’m curious how they will compare to the TS10 and Adios 9. I’m also finally enjoying the the Mach 6 lately as well.
IMO from late 2020, the ultralight responsive racing flat category was Skechers Razor Excess(?) territory. But Skechers being Skechers, theyre only available in USA. Now its too late for Skechers if they decide to go worldwide as Nike and Adidas (and probably Asics Magicspeed) is getting strong in this racing flat segment with better offering/tech
I know people loved the Sketchers a few years ago. I never tried them… but I know they were a bit ahead of the curve. The Asics shoe that compares to the A8 and SF is the Hyperspeed series, the Magicspeeds are more like the TS9 (but better for road running). There is a Hyperspeed 3 coming out this summer. Once I can get a pair (they ar what’s to find here in Taiwan) I will revisit this running flats with an expanded “vs” video. I am really looking forward to the Hyperspeed 3… as the Magicspeed 3 is VERY good!
For the purpose of training your foot strength, more resistant to plantar fasciitis or any foot problem, which would you choose? I’m guessing the streakfly? But the versatility and durability is a huge bonus to pass though…owning both on top of a daily trainer shoe might just be an overkill..especially when I’m already own the Takumi Sen 8
If you already own the TS8 and want to pair it with a daily trainer… with the purpose of building foot strength… go for the Streakfly. It’s the ultimate shoe for that, especially in the above rotation.
Good video, currently have a pair of streakflys love the fit n weight, but find them too soft…feel like i sink into them….so think ill like the adios 8 being firmer 👍🏾
The Adios 8 is a pleasure to run in. It’s my favorite shoe of the moment and when I’m not running in something due to the channel… I reach for the A8 always.
Just subscribed - great content. Hope to pickup some Adios 8, you mentioned they are true to size. I half sized up for the Boston 9, no longer needed with the Adios 8? People mention the same with the Boston 12, would be great if Adidas stayed consistent.
Thank you for the support! The Boston 9 was a very classic Adidas fit. Basically like a soccer clear. Narrow and short. But this was years ago now. The Adios 8 is the exact opposite of this. Adidas has moved to a much better last, generous forefoot and TTS leangth. The B12, A8 and AP3 all share this fit now.
A little bit old reply but I've just got a Streakfly and already had a NB Rebel v3. Don't you think Rebel v3 is kind of similar to Streakfly but much cheaper?
I only ran in the Rv3 a few times and basically swapped it for the Streakfly, which was much more natural and better feeling. It felt much more like the Rv1/v2..... the Rv3 was an odd one, though not as bad as the Rv4.
I don't understand the talk durability of running shoes these days. I have purchased a lot of name brand running shoes and I usually need to replace them after 300 - 350 miles anyway. The Nike Streak fly I only use for Interval Training and Tempo Runs and wouldn't have a problem with Road Racing 5K -10 k in them. The Nike Streak Fly are an affordable option if caught on sale and would use again in shoe rotations.
It depends on your expectations. Everyone’s wear is going to be different based on so many variables. With the SF, it’s more it doesn’t have the durability to be a daily trainer. Reserving it for workouts and speed sessions and a race here or there is totally fine for extending its use. However, wearing it daily, like a Pegasus, the shoe will break down quickly.

Is there a reason to own the adios 8 if you have the takumi sen 10? I love the sen 10 for my hill sprints, track workouts and 1-2k repeats. Where im looking for another shoe is to do my easy miles, 10-15km runs at about 5min per km pace. Does the adios 8 fill that roll? I currently have the novablast 3 and it feels like a boat under foot. I corner like a mack truck. My worry is that the adios 8 is too close to the sen10 for it to be worth it.
For your proposed use case… I’d say yes. It’s exactly how I used the Adios 8. 5-5:30/km easy running in the 15k range is ideal for it. I’ve been spending more time I. The Takumi Sen 10 lately though, but only for workouts. I’d also say… it might be worth waiting for the Adios 9, which should be out late summer. It looks to be the ideal low stack shoe for easy runs + workouts.

Thank you for the kind words. Ya, you’ll rarely hear me recommend a max cushion trainer. They are fine for limited use, but not daily. The Adios is a much better daily option for many.
The Rival Fly 3 was a great shoe. The true evolution of what the Peg36 could have become, if not for the 37. I put many kms into those a few years ago side-by-side with the Streakfly when it was first released.
Off topic I know but I'll share :D I decided I had to bite the bullet and splurged on a new raceday shoe. It's neighter of these (although they are perfect for my wide foot), they are not available in physical stores near me and I got a great deal on a pair of Metaspeed Edge. I'm pretty sure the two 5K time trials I did to test them weren't identical because i feel my fitness was slightly better when I tested the Edge, but they are quite faster than what I used before for race/speed day, which was the Zoom Fly SP. The difference is 12s/mi (or 20s/km) faster in the Edge. Probably if I did the tests exactly with the same fitness the difference would be more like 10-12s/km but I think it's still very large improvement... 2 minutes improvement over 10K just because of the shoe?
I am tempted.. But I need it just for road runs Fartlek from my Stryd.. So 20 minutes warmup on crappie tarmac.. Then Fartlek.. Then cooldown of 15 minutes again on crappie tarmac. I think the warmup and cooldown runs in the Adios 8 being a heel striker running slow will just make me sore the next day.. ❓
@michealgerhardt2876 I just went down a Google rabbit hole here. I’ve literally never heard anyone, an engineer or otherwise, use the word “damping” to describe what I’m referring too. Though I see the word is actually “damping”. It also seems there is a difference in common usage between American English vs British English. This does seem like something an engineering professor would correct in first years students… but otherwise no one else ever hears. 🤷🏼♂️
I don't care how fast a shoe is if it only lasts 30 hours. It's not a question of money, it's simply wasteful and stupid - these things end up in landfill. Nike need a hard kick in the balls for this.
Shoes are tools… and race shoes even more so. So a “race” shoe only getting 150-200mi I have no issues with. That being said everyone’s mileage will vary. I tend to be hard on shoes so I’m at the lower end.
We will have to agree to disagree here. I’m from from a paid or professional athlete and very much see running shoes as tools to get a job done via training or running. Much like anything else I buy and use on a daily basis. There is no distinction to me. I understand your argument but just don’t agree.
@@johnl.7582 not at all. I’ll be honest. I rarely run ANY running shoe over 200mi, unless I’m actively trying to see how far I can go with it. When I retire a shoe I usually wear them as casual shoes or (if they are still in good shape) they go to a donation bin so someone else can get some use out of them. I almost never throw a running shoe away unless it’s trashed… and when I do, because it is trashed, I don’t feel bad as I got the use out of the product. There are far more wasteful and destructive hobbies one could have that create much more waste and impact on the environment than running. Both Nike and Adidas (plus a few other brands) are trying to tackle this issue as a corporate level, which I support as well. However I think it’s completely unfair to single out shoe companies, running or otherwise, as “large scale polluters” given so many other industries, many thet are deemed hobbies or even essential, have much worst records on it.

Even for people used to modern max stack shoes, these are great for grass workouts. It’s always good to mix in soft surfaces every now and then

Would be great if the outsole is more durable, also if the price is lower. The laces kind of reminds me of a string wrap from a box of a cake.

Thank you for the kind words. Ya, you’ll rarely hear me recommend a max cushion trainer. They are fine for limited use, but not daily. The Adios is a much better daily option for many.
The Nike Rival is the durable cousin of the streakfly. In my experience, the Streakfly is plenty durable
The Rival Fly 3 was a great shoe. The true evolution of what the Peg36 could have become, if not for the 37. I put many kms into those a few years ago side-by-side with the Streakfly when it was first released.
Off topic I know but I'll share :D I decided I had to bite the bullet and splurged on a new raceday shoe. It's neighter of these (although they are perfect for my wide foot), they are not available in physical stores near me and I got a great deal on a pair of Metaspeed Edge. I'm pretty sure the two 5K time trials I did to test them weren't identical because i feel my fitness was slightly better when I tested the Edge, but they are quite faster than what I used before for race/speed day, which was the Zoom Fly SP. The difference is 12s/mi (or 20s/km) faster in the Edge. Probably if I did the tests exactly with the same fitness the difference would be more like 10-12s/km but I think it's still very large improvement... 2 minutes improvement over 10K just because of the shoe?
The ZFSP is old now and I assume you had a lot of miles on them. The Edge is a fast shoe so I totally believe it. Good job!

The Streakfly should be compared to the Takumi Sen
The TS is a super shoe. The SF is a racing flat. Now a TS9 vs VF3… that is a valid comparison. That one may be coming.

I am tempted.. But I need it just for road runs Fartlek from my Stryd.. So 20 minutes warmup on crappie tarmac.. Then Fartlek.. Then cooldown of 15 minutes again on crappie tarmac. I think the warmup and cooldown runs in the Adios 8 being a heel striker running slow will just make me sore the next day.. ❓
Likely… the A8 is not a great heel striking shoe. The TS9 is better in that regard. Lightstrike 2.0 is VERY soft…like very soft.

AP3 fits very similar to the A8, FYI. Still your mileage may vary as a heel striker in the A8. It’s not like the Adios of old with the built up heel.

@michealgerhardt2876 I just went down a Google rabbit hole here. I’ve literally never heard anyone, an engineer or otherwise, use the word “damping” to describe what I’m referring too. Though I see the word is actually “damping”. It also seems there is a difference in common usage between American English vs British English. This does seem like something an engineering professor would correct in first years students… but otherwise no one else ever hears. 🤷🏼♂️

The Adios 8 did basically replace the Streakfly for me. More for durability though...
I don't care how fast a shoe is if it only lasts 30 hours. It's not a question of money, it's simply wasteful and stupid - these things end up in landfill. Nike need a hard kick in the balls for this.
Shoes are tools… and race shoes even more so. So a “race” shoe only getting 150-200mi I have no issues with. That being said everyone’s mileage will vary. I tend to be hard on shoes so I’m at the lower end.

We will have to agree to disagree here. I’m from from a paid or professional athlete and very much see running shoes as tools to get a job done via training or running. Much like anything else I buy and use on a daily basis. There is no distinction to me.

@@johnl.7582 not at all. I’ll be honest. I rarely run ANY running shoe over 200mi, unless I’m actively trying to see how far I can go with it. When I retire a shoe I usually wear them as casual shoes or (if they are still in good shape) they go to a donation bin so someone else can get some use out of them. I almost never throw a running shoe away unless it’s trashed… and when I do, because it is trashed, I don’t feel bad as I got the use out of the product.
There are far more wasteful and destructive hobbies one could have that create much more waste and impact on the environment than running. Both Nike and Adidas (plus a few other brands) are trying to tackle this issue as a corporate level, which I support as well.
However I think it’s completely unfair to single out shoe companies, running or otherwise, as “large scale polluters” given so many other industries, many thet are deemed hobbies or even essential, have much worst records on it.
Nike Streakfly is the worst. I am not sure why Nike is still selling it for $160.00.
Id have to disagree. It’s one of the best shows Nike has made in the past 10 years… but that is personal preference too. The $160 USD is due to ZoomX…
