The install of the burners and brakes was actually really simple. The end result turned out amazing with the help of the nose gyro to keep the plane from turning during braking. Links for these amazing products below.

Brenden! Man you just keep knocking it out of the PARK! Way cool upgrades to an already amazing jet! That Assan gyro is incredible and at that price point, I put it in FIVE of my jets already! Thanks for all you do to contribute to this Just Plane Crazy hobby!
Thanks for the kind comments my man!
Best RC channel out there IMO
My f-14 Tomcat is going to luv them batteries plus I did that RC informant Mister Rich Bates battery bey mod that jet luvs that battery bey mod 🤣 it behaves very well . It's just I need my Mg-29 to behave just as so 🤣 ... I can stick my landings with a good Flair but it's just something isn't right with it finding away to collapse with little or no pressure impact . And I'm thinking it's more as you describe basically I need to get closer to the back of recommended cg . LOL 😆 MAN I CAN MAKE SOME STRANGE THINGS TURN OUT TO LOOK GOOD WITH THESE JETS 🤣🤣🤣 but "YOU" LOL man you got some nice skills that will make me dam pass gas 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you get any Smc’s don’t forget to tell them I sent u
Okay so do smc know you as Brenden or "just plane Crazy" ? 😂 I'm going to let them know Brenden but also known a "Just plane Crazy" man you are very helpful and informative 👍
Great 👍 Video
Love it
Another great video Breneden. I've done biz with RCC and they ship pretty quick and have most parts in stock. Might have to add that Assan gyro in my Mig. :)
Buy 5. They used to offer free shipping that way. Haven’t looked in awhile. Those things are amazing little helpers
Plus one for Jeti!!!
Some great add on for the Mig. I will have to see if I can get them from a UK Castle seller. Thanks for this 👍🏻
Thanks for watching as always.
Looks good. Ran out of ports on the RX with sound system and burners. Nothing left for brakes.
Lol... So many gadgets! So few holes!
great, but a lot of cable. Is it possible to use afterburner only up to half the battery capacity?
You can get burners for sure just by themselves. You cannot program batteries to stop powering them. They either work or they don’t. I hope that answers your question. If not rephrase it please
Can the ASSAN NOSE GYRO be used with a spectrum as3x with safe reciever?
Yes. It’s simply a stand alone unit. That’s one on the great things about it. The only thing it doesn’t work on is tail draggers.
Does your nose steering servo need a separate channel or should I say dedicated channel to add a nose gyro? And will the nose gyro be compatible with my Futaba setup?
Most steering servos are just Y’d off the rudder. So no separate channel is needed. It works with any radio system
Learning and spending so much $$$ watching your videos. I do love it. Did you have to do any mods other than the cuts in the foam to run the wires for the new retracts? Once you added the JP retracts, that prevented you from being able to use the top mounting position for your battery? How did this effect the recommended CG? Does the front gyro require a separate channel on your receiver? If not, where did you "Y" harness it in or where would you if you didn't have spare channels? Thanks for allowing me/us to pick your brain!
Jayson
The brakes changed the cg a lot and is really a decision moment. What’s better? A lighter flying plane or cool brakes. Pack size differed way to much to answer your question about the tray. Depending what packs u run this varies. The front nose Assan gyro plus inline to the nose retract. No extra port needed
@@JustPlaneCrazy thank you
saaweeett! btw im very shocked to see freewing motors in there lol. any plans to upgrade them to the fms 2100s?
Nope. It flys well as is. Not sure it would be a great TV plane but it flys well just like this. It’s much lighter than the f14
@@JustPlaneCrazy sweet good to know
The Brakes and nose gyro are great. What do you think of adding a parachute?
Not my cup of tea. But nothing wrong with it if u like it.
Great content as usual!! I like this idea of the brakes/landing gear. With the added weight I'm curious if the 80mm fans will still be enough, performance wise? I'm sure it will fly, but how well?
My thought was the same but when adding thrust vectoring there has to be additional weight there it was made to carry.
Do you know by chance where I can get scale decals for the mig 29, like the no step, cautions, etc. I know Callie could probably make something, but I don't want to wait for them. Any suggestions??
Maybe Patrick Gagnon Jr on FB could help you out. Tell him I sent u
Thank you I will!!
Now this is a foam plane I like....super clean looking....is that foam as smooth as it looks?
It is
hello, first off all nice video ! can you give me the link where i can find the brakes/struts please? the exact unit pls, many thx and greatings from europe, BELGIUM
Thanks for watching. Share away. All item are in the description link of the vid or can be found at www.rc-castle.com don’t forget to tell them I sent u. Have a great day. Wow Belgium.
FOUND THEM ; MANY THX
Which brake controller did you use? Was it the provided unit? I was under the impression that the controller that came with them were basically on/off
You are correct. It’s the included controller. The proportion control can be adjusted from the radio for more or less brake. It’s applied the same to both wheels. Unfortunately both wheels don’t act the same with that force. So I use an Assan nose gyro to keep it straight.
Great stuff, what gyro did you use for the steering?
Assan nose gyro from www.Rc-castle.com order a pack of 5 they are cheap and the last time I check it was free shipping with an order of 5
Don’t for get to like share and check out the Insta and FB pages
Do those wheels fit the Freewing F 22 Raptor 8s?
Honestly don’t know. I don’t have the F22
I had put these brakes on my freewing F-18C. I removed them as they just weren't needed and the wheels that come with them weighed 208 grams. 208 grams! One main retract unit with the factory wheel weighs 209 grams. So this was like adding a third retract unit (3/8 of a pound) to the plane for absolutely no reason. They worked pretty good, but alot of weight for no real gain, other than increased wing loading.
Yeah the weight for sure has to be debated as if it’s a needed item.
Especially with the f18 due to the cg shift upon retraction..?!?
@@chrisdavis3642 Not so much really. I set the CG with the great retracted, that way when I lower them the CG shifts forward. This means that my CG is set correctly when I'm flying and when I lower the gear the plane becomes nose heavy for landing at worst. They were just a lot of unnecessary weight.
Thx Buddy, always love your vid"s. Need to order those brakes and afterburners for my Mig.
Do they ship International....?
Thanks for watching. Don’t forget to share!! Yup they def do. May take a bit to get wherever u are but they are awesome for customer service. Where u from?
From South Africa
Wow. Talk about connecting across the world
Very True, would love one day to visit the USA, we lack far behind regarding all the products you Guy"s have there.
What’s the weight of the braked kit that you’re adding to the MiG?
Thanks for watching. I covered weights in the vid. I measured what I took off to what went on. It’s about a 6oz addition
@@JustPlaneCrazy Thanks mate, typical me jumping into without watching the major points lol. Thanks Brenden Nice vid sir
Anytime, u know that
What is your thoughts for using the gyro on a p-51?
Thanks for watching. The Assan nose gyro will only work on a Tri cycle landing gear.
@@JustPlaneCrazy 👌
I'm going to look in on getting a set of the breaks for my mig also , but my biggest problem is I replaced my front retract 3-times already and I'm looking for a front retract that an replace the that front plastic peace of crap . The factory front retract is crap man that front gear can't handle much of to many landings before other retract gives out . So what's a right aluminum retract to fit it ???
They make a 3D printed block that mimics my design of the f14. It goes under the canopy on the fuse and bolts run straight through to prevent it pulling away.
Okay that sounds cool to keep in mind 👍 BUT I'm so talking about the front retract gear itself . What's a good solid aluminum replacement retract that same size ? My problem is that factory plastic retract cracks . I need a "ALUMINUM FRONT RETRACT" that fits the MIG-29 .
Oh I see now. I would look at maybe jP retract ya or Electrolux. I honestly haven’t had any issue with mine. Shifting your cg a bit aft will help with flare to get the nose up in landing
Yes I figured if I resent the concept you would get it 😁👍 . Yes Play alil with the CG to do what I can to keep the front up on landings , but my landing strip is only like the snap of a finger on pavement . I am going to do the back brakes . But I really would like to find a front aluminum chasing retract gear for that front set-up . It's a nice big retract but the material of the front retract casing is weak it can't handle much pressure impact . Now the housing that house's the retract hasn't cracked at all it's all still good . But looking at your mod on the front I think I'm going to do that just because I see your concept of it 👍
OH WOW !!! is that Castle RC not here in the united state ? , I was finna mess up and order them back brakes . Lol my word is to never again order anything that isn't here in the country . I already don't like waiting for stuff I paid for , sometimes I even got to chase down vendors here in the states to get them about not updating there web page , got me ordering things they don't even have in stock . Lol lol
I have jp brakes 60mm on my f16 90mm and 65mm on my f4 90mm those planes need brakes in my opinion this one I've been flying it so much i can glide it home and stop with it the runway I've only gone off one time due to the plane wanting to float but with full flaps i bring it in slow but i might also add brakes to this one too doesn't hurt to have them
For this plane it’s a cool factor. Some needed more than others. You are spot on
Hey buddy, I luv this jet and I've done all I needed to get thing good with it, but my problem is , that "front nosegear retract" . Man no matter what even after somany landings on that front end , that gear is straight collapsing from the simplest landings... the plastic retract casing is very very weak and brittle it simply can't handle mush to the size of this jet man . , I'm hitting you up because it seems as if you luv this setup just if not more than I do man 🤣 . I need to know if there's a "ALL ALUMINUM FRONT RETRACT" I can find as a straight drop in fit for this jet . Please help if you can find a resource , they should be shame to put a such of a brittle front plastic casing on a jet this size knowing this jet is holding its size plus two batteries man . I've replaced 3 dam retract on landings straight smooth it made no sense to collapse, full lockouts , landings less than two pounds on perfect feathering angle of attacks . Plastic casing is weak an brittle on that front gear . You feel me simple. Thank you .help 👍
I will tell you this and you won’t believe me. I have flown off many grass field and a few paved. I have not broken one yet. What batteries do you run in yours? Maybe it’s a battery placement and size issue. I run 5300 Smc. One in the rear and one top center
Oh , WOW you do top center ??? I do the 5000 HRB 6000 admirals but I do back and front I hadn't done the top mount , I see you do yours with the Tail mix ?. Yes but is that front battery to help you better with a better transitioning to your angle of attack to pivot an pitch comfortably as needed ?
We are discussing the mig 29!correct?
Lol yes sir definitely ,
So I think your issue may be the weight of that battery right above the retract. Where mine is not. Like I said. I have never had an issue. I am able to get a really a nice flare. The Smc packs are some off the best in the industry and my testing and others have proven it. The have the lowest internal resistance and weight with usable highest mah.
Burners at lowest throttle positions? Why? Can you set it up to be actually realistic?
Not a hydraulic landing strut!!! It is a spring and cyclinder NO hydraulic fluid is used!!!!!!!!
Cool thanks
