- We are in Bridgeport, where we see MN/NJT Train 3137, the express to the Meadowlands Sports Complex for the day's football game pitting the New York Jets against the San Francisco 49ers (SF killed the Jets), as it makes its station stop. Normally, this train utilizes the multi-level equipment. Today, there are Comet cars. Today's consist is Comet IV cab car 5016 with 7 additional Comet II and IV cars and ALP46 4607 shoving on the rear. Enjoy the sight of the single level coaches. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on September 30th, 2012.
I believe this one has since been converted into a standard coach with the removal of the cab controls, plating of the windows, and removal of strobes, horn, and bell. If not, this conversion will eventually come.
Nice catch of the Football Train!
I was condemplating whether to take the ferry up to photograph it there at BP, but instead drove to Rye!
They're not allowed on the New Haven Line anymore. I'm not sure why, but it came from someone I know who works for MNRR.
Train538 Productions If memory serves me right, I vaguely remember that it had to do with the Cab Signaling Aspect Display, as it was not compatible with the signals on the new haven line.
NJT Transit announcement said “This Train is not for the Grand Central Terminal”, because the Electric Locomotive to the final destination Secaucus Junction the all passengers can go down stairs to the lower level and take the Meadowlands Shuttle Train with GP40-Based Passengers, F40PH-2CAT and PL42AC of NJT to MetLife Stadium
They tried it but the coaches were to tall. They caught fire due to arcing between the overhear wires and the roof of the car.
Comet V's are getting older. They should introduce new comet cars sometime soon.
Agreed
Late comment but the Comet Vs aren't even 20 years old
MN crews to Penn, and NJT to Meadowlands, vice-versa.
Is that a Nj Transit train on Metro North’s New Heaven Line?!?!
Yes. See the description and other comments for an explanation.
I don't think they've sent multilevel equipment up there in a long time.
When were the Comet IV's retired from leading trains?
Late 2012
