  • This is a CAAN Style effect with a double blank deck. If you already have a blank deck laying around, give it a shot. It is quite literally just a standard double blank deck and one regular playing card of your choice.

    This is an alternative to Craig Petty's Quantum deck. This is *NOT* his method. This will give you almost the exact same effect though. If you already have a blank deck laying around, give it a shot. It is quite literally just a standard double blank deck and one regular playing card of your choice. For those of you who may have had concerns about the Quantum deck's examinability (though I doubt you should) this has absolutely nothing to hide. It is 100% examinible by lay people. magicians, cats, birds and even your grandma! Enjoy!

      Hi Jay, im a year behind schedule, lol. I hope you are doing wonderful, sir.
      You are the best.
      I have been looking for a trick to do with an all blank deck that i bought about a year ago, around the same time when you put this awesome video on youtube. Thank you very much for showing how this beautiful trick is done. It's fantastic.
      I just saw a video of the trick, and i needed to learn the tutorial. Im glad that i found your channel.
      I just subscribed. You will be hearing from me more often, as i look frwd to watching your other great card magic tricks.
      I was thinking of how cool it would be if the spectator actually found their own card in the all blank deck that had a name to it, like the 6 of diamonds in the all blank deck of cards. What do you think of this idea?
      I am going to put a duplicate 6 OF DIAMONDS in the blank deck at the 4th or 5th position, i forgot where , but i will watch it again. Then, put that deck back in the box and put the box away until i need it.. I will start with the regular deck and force that 6 OF DIAMONDS on them. I will then put their card on top of the deck, and then they can shuffle it somewhere in the deck. I will make it comical by thanking them while i put the regular deck back in the box, acting like the trick is over. Lol. Some people might be confused, just like my mom sometimes gets. So i will tell them that we will get back to the regular deck to finish the trick.
      I can just see the look on their faces when i put the cards away and pull out my blank deck, and continue your trick from there.
      This way, not only do they find a regular card in a blank deck, but they also find their chosen card.
      What do you think of this idea?
      Im going to perform it on my friends on saturday and then on my mom on sunday, when i go over to her house to visit and help her out.
      If you want to go back to the regular deck after they find their card in the blank deck, you can show them that their card has vanished from the regular deck.
      You can do this after they pick the 6 of Diamonds, then find it in the blank deck. Everyone shows the card has vanished. Right after putting it on top of the deck. I like to do things differently if i can.
      You can use dble sided tape or roughing balm and put it on top card of the regular deck. Then, after you force their card, they look at it, and you put their card on top of the tape. Then you can shuffle the cards, and / or you can have them shuffle the deck before putting it in the box.
      Their card will stick behind the top card. Shuffle the deck, and make up some funny story that you needed that done for your next show. Put the deck back in the box. Then, do the trick with the blank cards.
      Then, if you want, you can go back to the regular deck and show them that their card had vanished.
      Thanks.
      GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY,
      Glen Polen

      Yes, you could, which is pretty cool as well. I've been using this method for a caan or acaan with a regular deck for a while. It's actually better suited for the double blank deck presentation. With a regular deck to do an acaan it does require you finding the card they name and moving it to the 5th position from the top, then half passing the top 6 or 7 cards to the bottom which isn't difficult but takes something away with the extra moves. Thanks for the comment. Have a great day.

    How would you decide which card to look for?
    1. Do this as part of a routine with one card, palm it, and transfer to the blank deck bottom, taking care to slip it one or two places from the bottom.
    2. I find E-Q can be weak.
    3.
    Or use a plain, old deck, palm their selection and place face up on the bottom which is loaded with at least 2 double-backers as camo. Thks.

    • @bloodmoney80
      @bloodmoney80  Před 2 lety +1

      If you want to do it with a regular deck. You need to get their selected or named card into the fifth position from the top, then take the top 7 or 8 cards and move them to the bottom while flipping them over, via a pass type move. Then you would perform the count the same way I show for the blank deck version.
      With the blank deck, you can just do it as a CAAN. What printed card you use doesn't really matter. It's about them choosing a number and the only printed card being at that number. What the card is doesn't matter so much.

Maybe not the whole deck is RS but a stock on top and bottom maybe. I believe Craig put a lot of work into Quantum and he’s a great magician, however in the trailer he stresses that the spectator can FREELY choose ANY number which is untrue and he explains the truth in the instructions.
    For me, if a spectator cannot choose any number and I have to instruct them to choose another number it kills the effect. No matter how you word it the spec and audience will notice and remember that it was never a freely chosen number.

    IMO, It's not as clean as Craig Petty's The Quantum Deck Official Trailer.
    In this performance there's unseen move that should be questionable if it performed in continous live shot / close up performance.

    • @bloodmoney80
      @bloodmoney80  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, everybody's style is different and will have different preferences. The move done in a live situation while pattering, with slight audience management will fly by easy. There are situations with Craig's as well that if they name a number out of the 10 - 30ish range you have to do a half pass which is similar to having to flip the whole deck anyway. The version I show has a wider range of numbers that can be named and makes it so everything is comfortably examinable afterward. Also with Craig's, some time the card is delt face up, sometime face down. These are all differences that will make a difference to some and not to others. Thanks for looking and have a good day.

      Nah, even Craig goes into Barrie Richardson’s handling with his deck to cover certain outs. When I saw that, I questioned the whole point of quantum deck. With a normal deck, it is cleaner. Misdirecting for a move that flies by is easier in real life, than on cam.

    Hi Jay, about 4 or 5 years ago I was messing around with some roughing fluid, and also had recently purchased the "The Grail" CAAN effect. If you are not familiar with that effect , check it out here: czcams.com/video/mpK_2KzEEPc/video.html I replaced the two sets of duplicate Queens in that effect with four dups of a single queen E.G., four Queens of clubs. I rough-smoothed each QC card I.E., it's face to the back of a stranger card.These four "stranger r-s pairs were distributed at the same numeric intervals as in "The Grail", effect. I used the same mathematical formular described in the Grail and the "card box displacement" sleight also described in "The Grail." It was no brilliant idea on my part, but it replaced the visible duplicate queens in the deck, and also avoided the need for the envelope prediction with a double suited index card. I am going to start using Barrrie Richardson's method you kindly presented here!
    Thanks,
    Allen
    P.S. I would probably have a card selected from a red back deck, and have it signed, and contol it ito a gamblers cop or classic plam it. I'd remove a blue back deck from it's box, and in that process replace the selected "red back" card on the bottom of the blue back deck. Instead of turning over the deck, I'd use a cover pass to get four cards from the bottom of the deck to the top of the deck, under the cover card. This places the selected red backed card five cards down in the face down blue deck, and you complete the effect as per the Richardson method. Yep, more sleight of hand, but also a pretty good transportaion of a selected, signed card from one deck to a spectator named position in another deck.

      There are a lot of cool things you can do with this method. It can be the base to layer a cool routine upon. Of course it can always just be used for a quick basic CAAN as well. The regular deck version is nice because it is totally impromptu and can be done with a borrowed deck. I am familiar with the grail. I own the gold edition. The addition of the roughing is a good idea. Thanks for looking and commenting. Have a good day!

      Dude came up with this method many years ago. Tried and true method. I've come across many people teaching this method as well, some even selling downloads with the method. They all seam to suggest it will fly. according to Craig, he teaches this version in the tutorial for quantum deck as well. I've performed the regular deck version before, with that there is a little more room for misdirection. If you get people to look at the cards you've dealt on the table by spreading them, the split second is good enough to table the rest of the cards and flip as you are doing so. Sorry, about the sniffing, coke problem. Thanks for looking. Have a good one.

      I will add, that I don't know why anyone would want to fool magicians either. It seams to be a selling point for some. Hell, I don't even let spectators touch anything. No examination for you. Everybody's different though. Everybody has got different styles. Some things work better for some than others. Effects with rough and smooth seam to be out of style these days as well.

      @yendor Guru of misdirection? I can almost openly flip a Blank deck in front of a spectator and get away with it, Why you ask? Because both sides are blank! If I can do a no cover pass then surely I can half pass a blank deck, actually not even a half pass. This method is actually examinable not that it needs to be but because you can have a much higher number range. You would have to be super paranoid to not use this method and it’s not even an amazing trick, there is no reason I would ever use this or quantum simply because there are much better things to do with a blank deck such as point blank by Gregory Wilson, well to be fair with this version you could add it to Gregory Wilson’s point blank Routine as an additional reveal.

      Tell me about it. I learned this from a Barrie Richardson pamphlet. I've also seen similar effects on dvds and downloads in more recent times. It's such an ancient art. It feels like the most valuable principles of magic have been created, copied or have been recreated a many times over. Even when you see something you think is new and clever, later you find out it was taken from some old text that everybody has forgotten about.

    Listen I think anybody who knows much about cards knows how the trick is done but why would you deliberately expose a product of someone else. you’re no different to every other expose channel of others magic. You’re not clever cause you’ve worked out an effect of someone else. Your effect is flawed as well it won’t work under fire the cards shouldn’t go out of site.

    • @bloodmoney80
      @bloodmoney80  Před 2 lety +1

      First off, I didn't expose his trick. Second, this is also not my version. Clearly stated, it's Barrie Richardson's method. Also, at the end I talk about flipping the deck. I wasn't trying to hide it in this video. I am only showing how it's done. I openly show myself putting the card into position as well. If it was meant to be fooling, would I be doing that? Third, this way of doing an ACAAN that I show is as old as the hills. I purchased more than a few products who use this as the method. I'm at least not profiting from it. Fourth, if a magician wants to keep his trick a secret, perhaps don't sell it to anybody with $40.00 in their pocket. Also, if anybody who knows about cards could figure it out, how come all the famous magicians in the trailer couldn't?

      In a current magic climate that's become so commercial and people are selling overpriced rehashed effects all over the large magic sites. I don't think showing people a spin on a very old trick, on an unmonetized CZcams channel is a problem. Conjurors have been around since ancient Egypt. First documented performance of cups and balls was 2700BC. Every magic idea at this point is a modification of an old one. 90% of what you find at magic dealers isn't original. Magic is something that should be enjoyed, fun and shared with people who are interested. Not protected and hidden away so a select group can profit off of it. It's the year 2023 with internet and smart devices. If somebody wants to know how something is done they can find an answer.
