- Welcome!
This react is to Jinjer performing their song Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air 2019. Tatiana scared me half to death in Jinjer so naturally I had to come back for more. The musical/vocal progression and ideas in this song are awesome so I hope you enjoy checking it out with me.

JINJER - Judgement (& Punishment) - Tatiana Shmayluk - One Take Vocal Performance also really good from her
@@user-pt4ic1qu5q how
yeah its definitly a master piece to react to :D
THIS SONG should be the song they do when she has her metal friend on
I agree with Joe, do the Judgment (and Punishment) One-take with your extreme vocalist friend!
Definitely. A double feature with official video and the one take would be awesome! 🤘🏻
"Why is there a circle" made me chuckle. Those are "pits". People run around during really fast and heavy songs and hit each other. Sounds dumb from my explanation, but it's a fun way to get energy out
Mosh pits, moshing being the actual "dance" practice and there being different type of pits.
Think the circle pits started because they're slightly safer than mosh pits. At least, back when I went to gigs there were only mosh pits, and then I noticed that many artists didn't like them (I remember Bruce Dickinson getting rather miffed at us for moshing -- they shouldn't have asked Anthrax to open for them :D )
Yeah only very slightly. less of a chance of getting punched but higher chance of getting stepped on
Only assholes punch in pits
Ha!! Was thinking the same damn thing! LOL!!
Youll never hear a fererro rocher make those sounds again
Lol that is amazing! Well done sir...
Internet win!
OMG lol
😂😂🤣well done dude!
Hahaha
"it kind of looks like something resurrecting"
As she is literally singing "From the ashes of my roots the new me will rise to live again" :D
Such a powerful lyric as well, which is really underlined by her physical gestures🤟🤟
You might want to look at Tatyana's one take version of "Judgment and Punishment". It came out a bit over a week ago, and it gives a really good picture of what she does without distractions.
And she has a cute cat.
she has a CAT?! **immediately bumps Judgement and Punishment up the reaction list**
@@jvoxfox Please do...it will floor you!
maximus11400 Floor her? Wouldn’t that be NightWish? 😉
@@jvoxfox one take version......!!!!
Yeah the live one take version of Judgement (and punishment) is what really bumped Jinjer up my playlist. She is an incredible singer.
She is wrapped in gold for a reason. All HAIL Queen Tatiana
Half the color of her nation's flag, the other Navy blue.. Ukraine.
The stank face in lots of music genres is a sign of appreciation, nothing weird about it.
Handel reportedly made it at the debut of Beethoven's Third.
Stank faces rule!
Kapowwwwwwwww 🤘😎🤘
Completely different genre, but the song "Thizzle dance" which is hip hop references it: "first, ya do like this; put a look on your face like ya smell some piss" 🤣
My band opened for them while they were in america this past fall, and seeing her in person gave me even more respect then I had before. One of the best modern vocalist I've seen in person
All Hail The Yeti?
This song is literally about the harsh life of a perennial flower
Perennial, like plants that die back and go dormant during the winter then grow again from their roots in spring.
ahhhh I wondered if it had anything to do with plants thanks for confirming :)
Tatiana has struggles with depression and SAD. She draws a connection between herself and perennial plants I think.
@@jvoxfox Probably not. Perennial is a term that means permenant or everlasting, but in botany it is any plant that lives for more than 2 years.
@@jvoxfox It's the seasonal cycle, nature "dying" during fall and winter and eventually resurrecting during spring. The songs double meaning has to do with her seasonal depression, which also starts in fall / winter times, and goes away during spring. Little fun fact, the original song lyrics repeat "no we're not dead, no we're not dead", but during live shows like this she says "no we're not dead, no you're not dead", to address the crowd directly. She interacts a lot with them, especially on the smaller shows where she's closer to the crowd, like touching their hands or having them sing along.
@@deed5811 autumn depression that is
“What a front woman” - yes she is truly amazing, she is the complete package, she brings it every performance
As a Jinjer reaction addict, please know Julia, that yours are some of the best in terms of breakdowns of the music in spite of you not being familiar with her fry and false cord techniques. And I'll consistently come back to watch your analysis because of it.
For someone who has learned a lot about singing and vocals by watching reaction videos, I like that you provide insight and instruction while keeping it fun. I'm an American who loves a nice Aussie accent and yours is as lovely as you are. I look forward to seeing if you can get your friend on who knows about this vocal style.
Amen. Also the attitude is just epic ^^
Tatiana once said that she developed her techniques and never recommend em to anyone. she doesn't do warm ups but she sings everyday and that's her practice.
“Engage the people.”
Oh. Oh she does. Seeing her live is crazy. And mind-bending that this short, petite woman has such enormous stage presence.
"Her aura is pure power...."
You nailed it, Julia!
Every member of this band are amazingly talented, and Tatiana is an amazing lyricist, especially impressive because english is not her first language.
She's the best thing that happened during these last two years!
10:27 I just watched The Charismatic Voice's interview with Tatiana and she is a completely intuitive singer. She doesn't know how she does it and she lives as if it's a separate entity who has it's own will. She seems to embrace the soul of what you said here. (I'm just blown away she self-taught and hasn't destroyed her voice, contrarily it seems she just intuitively knows what is healthy.)
I've seen Jinjer live 2 times and you have NO IDEA how much engergy these guys are throwing right into your face until you have experienced it live by yourself. This high level of energy lasts until the last note. The crowd is loaded w| that energy and sometimes it needs a pop-off like the moshpit (that circle of people shoveling and pushing each other).
Spot on!!!! 🤟
we know what a pit is
In essence, this song is about nature and humans dying, then living again. It's about us sharing that same thing with nature.
"I just have to keep moving to it".... congrats Julia, you are a budding metalhead!
Long hair clue one. Black T shirt clue two. Watch for the sleeve tats creeping down the arm...
The semi-recent "one take vocal performance" of Judgement (& Punishment) would be a great video to do with your colleague when you want to see a masterclass and huge focus on the vocal technique.
This is probably a good idea, I'd like to see an expert opinion on that.
Agree. And I think I already know what you may criticize ... a few times, when she inhales, she's lifting her shoulders, which is a thing that voice coaches usually don't recommend AFAIK.
Depending on when that "special guest" session will be, you could do "I Speak Astronomy" and/or "Teacher, Teacher" in between. For both songs, I would recommend the official video. For "I Speak Astronomy" there is a good live video available, but the official video is just too good to miss it, and for "Teacher, Teacher" I only found mobile phone recordings where especially the audio quality is too bad.
And remember to watch any video until the *very* end.
Absolutely 😎🤘
Yes we need this.

That power stand you mention at the end. I've seen that one place before, frequently. Freddie Mercury. She's a performer not just a singer. Best Band I've seen in decades.
That's called a circle pit, a specific form of mosh pit. Like wall of death is another specific form of moshing
It's funny seeing non metal people realizing how metal metalheads are😄
I took a friend to their first metal concert a few years back and they about shit themselves when everyone around us started backing off getting ready for the wall of death, They enjoyed themselves immensely after i explained what it was and that it's not about hurting each other, From an outsiders perspective it does kind of look like we're just hurting each other though but it's good fun
And there's a Wall of Death example in the official video for "Teacher, Teacher."

Tatiana is Incredible...listen to her after the song..you can hear how much effort she puts into singing...WOW. when Tatiana holds that long note then switches to the growl...Damn that was amazing
You are very sensitive to emotion in music. This why you are so authentic, and a music appreciator.
Jinger musicians are amazing. I don't know how they can keep up these unusual time signatures much less remember the complex chords they have created. Love Tatiana's clean vocals though. They are exquisite. Thank you Julia for this unique and fun reaction.
When she’s right in the camera and says “come back and celebrate this festival of life” and points at the crowd is so god damn cold
Fun fact...she's an amazing opera singer...and she teaches classes on how to sing the way she is in this video cause she was sick of people hurting their voices...so she teaches them a healthy way
"Why is there a circle?" is my personal quote of the day 😄
God, she is so flawless
Julia,
Please don't get scared of this one. High energy from the get go. And an air-kick!!! She owes this show and stage... Jinjer is the BEST thing to ever come out of the former U.S.S.R. For sure and for certain!!!! My favorite part is coming up. When she gets up on her perch and sings "As I rise!!!" It blows my mind..... This woman is unreal good....... Love it!!! Your channel lady is a treat!! Thank you so much. Power YES!!!!
Welcome to Metal. That feeling of energy, power, and drive can be intoxicating.
I was in the crowd at that concert and that woman is Stunning in every aspect. Seeing her live is even better than on tape, it's amazing. I hope I get to see them again.
Seen them live twice. Can confirm: She is an absolute powerhouse on stage!
"You have to keep going or the music will roll you over" facts.
The juxtaposition of her beautiful clean clear almost angelic voice contrasted with her angry almost satanic growl along with the fact that she is a skilled show woman with an awesome & creative band and you have a captivating combination.
This such a great and interesting reaction, thank you ! 🤗 So eager to see next reaction with your extreme vocal specialist
The part were you said it looks like something resurrecting always felt the same to me, and as she's singing "From the ashes of my roots
, The new me will rise to live again" it makes perfect sense.
And when she's done singing you can tell she's super out of breath, but it didn,t show at all during her performance, she held it together so well. What a pro! What a beast!
She is just amazing, Tatiana got an amazing voice! Awesome reaction, really enjoy when your explain alot, its fun to listen to, and wow do you smile with your eyes, its impossible not to smile with you! Thanks you for that, always great to smile! Stay awesome!
Thank you so much for these reactions, you're so much more engaging and informative than all these other CZcamsrs. You've reinvigorated my desire to watch reaction videos.
You mention what an amazing frontwoman she is. Nothing shows that better than "Who Is Gonna Be The One (Live)| Napalm Records". Beautiful live footage. She empties her whole bag of tricks. Plus it shows how skilled and tight the entire band is. Every member is amazing.
I can tell you from first hand: you feel the energy! Saw them last November as main act, they had three support acts which were not bad til really good - but even after the good it was like switching the lights from candle to stadium illumination from there first second on stage. Unbelievable!
This is such a great reaction video. It's one of the few that I like to watch repeatedly. Many reaction videos are good for one, maybe two viewings, but I can watch this one over and over.
Tatiana is from outer space. So sweet n dark at the same time. Such an amazing song indeed.
*Insert "I Speak Astronomy" joke here.*
I love how you can hear everything in the mix. Vocals, guitar, drums, bass. Just amazing.
Ye it's RARE and this is live too. This is such a fantastic performance on so many levels
Great reaction, Julia! Thanks for doing this one! Perennial Live at Wacken is one of my Jinjer favourites and I'm glad you enjoyed it even if you're still a little scared of Tatiana's ferocious growls😄
Oh and I appreciate your fair critique and technical input as always👌
I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction to Jinjer. They have become my favorite band and Tatiana has become my favorite singer. Thank you
I love this band, Tatiana is absolutely amazing! That said, I loved your vocals as well when you were giving an example of what she was doing, I’d love to hear you sing! Also, your facial expressions make this channel. That and your obvious knowledge. You catch everything I miss because I’m so busy enjoying the music I font take the time to fully appreciate what goes into it (if that makes sense?). So, thank you very much for what you do. Absolutely love your channel!
Tatti is a special talent. Her stage presence coupled with the extraordinary talent of the other members of the band is an incredible dynamic. As far as you go, your insight, observations and style of commentary is, in my opinion, next level. Outstanding work.
Super reaction. And every time I hear this song, I appreciate it more. I think Jinjer are the best thing to happen to rock music since Led Zeppelin.
Best Jinger reaction video yet! I totally concur with everything you've said Julia!
Too good Julia. Love your reactions/expertise
About the quality of the music, you should do "I Speak Astronomy". Absolute Masterpiece.
YES!
and Home Back
How could anybody not like this enough to actually "push the like button"! I am relatively new here and would like to share a few thoughts I have been collecting while catching up with your videos (so sorry for the length of the message):
- One thing I truly like about your channel that I think differentiates it from so many others, is the fact that you don’t hold nor keep anything to yourself. The good things and the bad things are all highlighted here! When you notice a flaw (which everybody has every now and then) you point it out so we all can learn how to notice them on our own.
- Two things I love about your reactions: they are as spontaneous/honest as they come, but also are very professional/objective. You are just as knowledgeable as candid! You can easily go from the brink of tears with Nightwish to whatever happened to you with Jinjer (Piscis), going through very deep and professional analysis of “simple” things with Ayreon. Amazing!
- Which takes me to the final one: probably we all are here for the vocals! But you know so much of so many other things in music... The little jewels you drop from time to time on instrumentation, time signatures, musicianship, equalization, stage presence, emotion… Please, keep sharing all of those with us! They are truly invaluable.
Finally, in some other videos’ comments you asked if your explanations are “too technical”… My humble opinion is that it could be a matter of terminology, maybe. So, of you could walk us through the relations, equivalence, differences between concepts and terms, I think that would help a lot. For example, what is the relation between first or second register and head voice or chest voice. That kind of stuff.
Oh, by the way… Love the fact you are enjoying symphonic/melodic metal! I personally believe it is such a rich genre and it presents so many opportunities for you to talk about all those thinks you know… THANK YOU, Julia!
SUPER enjoyed this one! Listening to Jinjer always gets me in a good mood. :)
she is a real talent and a force to enjoy....
When people say the phrase "powerful women" she's one of the first people that comes to mind
5:45 The circle is called a "mosh pit" where the crowd is "moshing/slam dancing/slamming," which is described as: "a style of dance in which participants push or slam into each other, typically performed to "aggressive" live music. Moshing usually happens in the center of the crowd, generally closer to the stage, in an area called the "pit". It is intended to be energetic and full of body contact."
Thank you for your astute and detailed analysis! I really appreciate it. Spot on! Jinjer is the BEST!
I love your analysis and your obvious passion for music and singing. What really sets you apart is your sense of humour - you can be painfully self-aware and then sometimes you seem to let go and just drink it all in. Wonderful.
Regards from the UK.
Great reaction !!! Love the appreciation of what Jinjer as a whole group can do!!! Shout out to Vlad, Roman, Eugene and Queen/Beast Mode Tatiana!!!! Welcome to the Jinjer Army !!! Next would be Teacher Teacher, Judgement (& Punishment)Tatiana's One take Performance, Retrospection, Cloud Factory Live performance, On the Top, Noah, Pit of Consciousness, Who's gonna be the One.
“Maybe I like all the thngs.” Hilarious. I think you and your colleague should do the one take vocal performance of judgement and punishment together...
Congrats on 64 k. Love your reactions. Keep up the good work
I had to watch your reaction again. I love how you--not a metal head--get into it and move with the music. Your breakdowns of what is happening in her vocals is really cool, too. Thanks.

Fabulous reaction to an epic performance Julia! Really enjoying your reactions, some great input, very insightful, educational and entertaining commentary. Tatiana and the guys are a truly talented band, live they´re even better. I would LOOVE to hear from you on more live stuff from them. People recommend "Judgment & Punishement" one take vocal and I totally agree, but also try "Who´s Gonna Be The One" live. It´s another bombastic performance from the them and of course Tatiana nails it big time! Keep the Jinjer train rollin, they deserve it!
The song simply means to come back or be reborn and the way it plays out is very well done-kudos to Jinger and you Julia Nilon for this wonderful reaction video.
Julia, congrats on 50k! 🍾 Well deserved. Livestream party soon? I’ll prolly just get something from the macca’s drive-thru 😂🙆🏻♀️

Julia, I have to say - you are one of the best reactors / analysts that I've come across. Your personality shines through and you yourself are engaging! I caught you as a result of me being a Jinjer fan, thus you being recommended and I'm glad you were as I've enjoyed your videos. Cheers from NY!~
Officially ! This is my favorite reaction and Person Who Reacts. First of all I want to thank you for not only perfect reaction ,but also for interesting, honest journey Inside of music and taking part by part music and vocal.I saw tons of jinjer and other reactions,so I can tell you without doubt ,you are the best.please stay like that.
Ps:sorry for my English ,it’s not my native, but I hope everyone understand the meaning of my post.
Probs one of the best reviews of this song, nice job! :)
Now you must react to "Teacher Teacher" and "I Speak Astronomy" from Jinjer too.
It really speaks volumes of your knowledge and musical IQ that you can deliver such an in-depth, objective analysis, although you're not in your comfort zone (in terms of this not being a genre/form you're familiar with). Kudos!
I love how your mouth mimics hers as she delivers those sustained belts :) you can totally feel that you're deeply into her performance
You are probably becoming one of my favorite reactors. Not only are you super pretty , but understand the music as well, break stuff down, and understand the technicalities of the vocals as well as feel the music. Jinjer is a beast of their own off the leash
Jinjer is making me more and more interested in this genre everytime I see a vid about them
There is a lot of good music to find
My dude! Check out the Howard Jones era of Killswitch Engage! 🤟
I cant get over how beautiful your smile and hair combo are. Well played, madam.
Julia… I love to watch reaction videos and yet you are the only person I am subscribed to. Your insights are fantastic and your love of music is very prominent. I read somewhere that Tatiana suffers from Seasonal Affective Disorder and this song is her effort to bring attention to it. I know this reaction is over a year old but I’ve watched it again and again just cause I love how you are so moved by it.
You my dear, is just amazing in your ability to absorb and understand music.
As an avid metal fan - for the past 35 years or so -I must say that I soooooooo enjoy your breakdowns of, not only the vocal qualities but also the musical qualities of a group or performer (or band or whatever you want to call it) as a whole .
Taste in music comes down to personal preferences, of course, but there's also a degree of objective "truth" to both the construction of a piece of music as well as the delivery of it.
After have seeing some of your reaction videos (of bands in the realm of progressive and/or symphonic metal), I am truly uplifted by how you, not only read up on what you are going to react to, but also how you hear, feel and understand the different time-signature, mood and feel changes that is essential to the type of music that bands like Jinjer, Nightwish and what have you, are playing (although considerably different in their musical styles).
Just keep on doing what you are doing and many of us "metal heads", regardless of what our favourite band mighjt be, will keep getting back to your channel.
I’ve listened to this type of music pretty much my whole life and I’m 40. She’s not just one of the best females I’ve heard she’s one of the best period I’ve ever heard.
This is going to be epic
Indeed it was! Both the performance and the reaction!
You are the best of the "Vocal coach" reviewers that I've come across..... SUBSCRIBED!!!
Love your reviews! Technically competent and you have appreciation for different genres of music. Subscribed!
I freaking love the feel of your reaction videos. They are beautifully done, and your comments are very clearly depicted when written, as well as typically having something new to say that I hadn’t heard before.

Awesome vid...luv your breakdowns ..Tatiana ..and band are awesome .🤘
I have seen plenty of "random person/vocal coach reacts" videos, as I clearly enjoy them a lot. But seldom do I see such awe, delight and physical response from someone, and in return it also gives me a similar response watching you. Having said that, I just subscribed and will watch some of your other videos now, hoping for more of that almost tactile response.
You should react to "I speak Astronomy" and "Teacher Teacher". The lyrics are really worth reading them, same for "Perennial" and "Pisces" you already reacted to.
"why is there a circle?" because circle pits are awesome 😁
That breat control is amazing ❤️
Wow, great analysis. I listened this song and watched this video decens of times, and didn't notice some things that you did notice in your first watch. Can't wait for the video with your colleague.
