The look on Renard's face when Nick and Adalind looked at each other for the first time not as enemies. Seeing them click hurt him. He was horrible at showing it but he loved her, always had. When Adalind told Nick that if they hadn't taken her daughter, she wouldn't have tried to get her back by working with the royals, he realized for the first time that his actions were partly to blame and Adalind kind of had a right to try and get her daughter back.

She never was the villain. I think that's part of why the writers decided for her to be Nick's first wogua. All this time people think of her as the monster and yet, the whole time she's just a victim of circumstance, she's either being tossed around and used by Sean, her mother and the royals or being plotted against by the gang. She was always the heroine to me. And the irony of the situation when Juliette refused Nick's help and to be with him because a hexenbiest can't be happy with a Grimm?! I loved it, because his feelings for Adalind grew even stronger after she had gotten her powers back. Oh and the best line of that episode, "...And I would never hurt you, I'm just worried the world's never gonna leave us alone..." I honestly cried. A match made in heaven for sure, they were.

I've always loved how Adalind is *very* aware of everyone's positions here. She sarcastically brings up the fact that it's "a room full of heroes" bc all three of them have hurt each other and done morally questionable things over the course of the series leading up to this point. And, specifically regarding the situation with her children, both Sean and Nick have proven themselves to be hypocritical.
Sean and her mother manipulated her into making an enemy of Nick in the first place. Adalind wanted to try her hand at seducing Nick bc that would be the fastest way to achieving Renard's goals. But she was ordered to do it with Hank instead, which led to Nick taking that personally, regardless, which led to Nick taking her powers. In doing so, Nick precipitated the event that would lead to her taking *his* powers, which led to Adalind being pregnant with Kelly, and Juliette becoming a Hexenbiest. Adalind sought stability, protection, and retribution with Erik which put her back in Renard's path when she returned to Portland to deliver a message, which led to her pregnancy with Diana, which led to her getting her Hexenbiest powers back, which led to the Portland Crew stealing her ten-day-old baby from her, which led to her turning to the Royals, etc. Everyone in that room made choices that led exactly to that situation.
Adalind is manipulative, yes. She's made a lot of morally bad decisions, yes, but most if not all of those decisions were made to prioritize her own survival. Like she told Rosalee, she was basically a lawyer minding her own business until Aunt Marie pulled up to Portland and changed Nick's life, which lead to Renard getting involved, which lead to Adalind getting involved, which lead to her own life being changed, too.
Her big shift in character started when she had Diana and her having Kelly only heightened the change that was already unfolding. This is essentially the beginning of her 'redemption' arc, though I hesitate to call it that bc, given the positions she was placed throughout the show, it's less about redeeming her (frankly some of her choices were understandable, even if inexcusable) and more about giving her a reason to be good. Which was really all she needed all along: a reason.
(So much conflict we saw in the show could've been avoided if Nick and the Scooby Gang had just realized how useful she would be to them earlier. But then, Grimm wouldn't have been the same without our blonde Hexenbiest stirring the pot, now would it?)
The show does it's best to make it clear to the audience that she's actually far from straight up evil. They did a lot to humanize her from as early as season 1 and it becomes most obvious at this point. Her immediate priority is protecting her unborn baby. She already has to deal with the trauma of losing her first one to the very people she's now asking for help from, and - this might just be a personal headcanon - but I wanna say Adalind's been dealing with postpartum, as well. She knew exactly what she was getting into when she came to the police station and is very, Very aware of the risks she's putting her and her unborn child in. Even with his baby on board, she doesn't presume Nick will protect her.
But - and this is the kicker - she went to Renard for protection before. She trusted him with Diana and he betrayed her - for understandable reasons, yes, but the point remains. And Renard is a half-Zauberbiest, his agenda is his own. But Nick, for all that she's hurt him over the years and all that he's hurt her, Nick has rules. Nick has a code, he has his honor. Nick may be a Grimm and a born killer, but he's never attacked unprovoked and Adalind is still carrying an innocent life inside her. Out of the two, Nick is still higher up on the list of dependable people. So Adalind does the smart thing, the lawyer thing, and devises a solution so her needs are met: she gives him incentive. She *asks* for his protection and discusses a fair trade for his services by offering to undo the thing that kickstarted Juliette and Nick's relationship falling apart.
And after this, she continuously tells Nick she doesn't expect him to keep protecting/housing her and Kelly, even if she admits to wanting it. She knows she has a long way to go still and that very little is actually stopping Nick from leaving them on the street. The scales between Nick and Adalind aren't zeroed out yet, not here (though I'd argue that they are by the end of season 5/start of season 6) but Adalind takes her chances, anyway. She's scared and desperate and willing to give up her safety for her baby and Nick proves himself Renard's better - he keeps them safe, both of them, together. Their confrontation in season 6 proves how different they are:
[Renard: Sometimes you have to sacrifice to protect the people you love
Nick: And sometimes you have to kill whoever's threatening them.]
Which, taken out of context, oddly goes against the stereotype; you'd think the morally ambiguous character of Renard, a half-zauberbiest, would be the one willing to kill so easily but no, actually, it's our hero and protagonist.
Sorry for the long rant, I just *really* love how interconnected the writers' made these three's individual storylines, especially Nick and Adalind's.

Yeah I think so too. If you watch it from the first season up to the end, you realize that Nick and Adalind might have always been endgame. They were always more connected, had more chemistry between them, and whenever Adalind did something to Nick, except for that time she tried to kill Marie on Sean's orders, it's always in retaliation for something Nick and his friends did first, like killing her mother, taking her child or taking her powers. She was justified in each situation. Plus, not forgetting that they were each other's first (S5E03). The more I revisit the show the more I see that they were always meant to be.

it might just be me but i honestly loved having juliette become a Hexenbiest bc we got to see her character develop as something more than just Nick's girlfriend/helpful addon. it was nice to see come into her own and her rebirth as Eve, painful as it was for most parties involved, was a breath of fresh air and a growth period that was long overdue for her. also bitsie got to really showcase her range as an actor and, frustrated as we all got with juliette when she was on her bender, she made it really entertaining to watch unfold

I agree to enjoying her as a hexenbiest. And despite what others have said, I feel like her turn was organic. They said up front that her personality would change, but on top of that, the reason she became this was because she was in Nick's world. Nick then can't even look at her (which I understand because when he looks at her he sees his quilt for making her that way) and THEN she finds out that the man she loved was having a baby with the woman who had a major role in ruining her life. I understand why Juliette was angry. It's not easy to accept that your boyfriend has a child from another woman that was supposed to be yours. He can't just take it like that. He may not have known it wasn't Juliette when he slept with Adalind, but that doesn't make it easy. But I don't approve of what he did to Nick's mom and the other things he did. I also understand why Adalind did this to Nick. They took away her first child after she gave birth to it. She was devastated and upset. True, it was for the good of the child, but they deceived her when she trusted them. Maybe if they had explained to her what they were planning and told her the truth she wouldn't have done this. But on the other hand Kelly would never have been born and Nick and Adalind would never have fallen in love.

The reason I never liked Juliette was that she never evolved, her character stagnated for 4 seasons, and even has Eve her character was still kinda the same. She blamed everyone and their mother for what was happening to her. Yes, she was turned into an hexenbiest but she could have just embraced the power and joined the team. Nick did have a visceral reaction, but I'm sure that when he learned that it was irreversible he would have learned to love her again. Point in case he is devasted when she dies, and also he goes on to falling in love and making a home with one hexenbiest. Whereas with Adalind you could see a progression in the character evolution, she went from a girl doing things for the man she loves to someone driven to vengeance to a character with who you could empathize with.

Being born or made a hexenbiest also seems complicated being that they're attracted to power and when Juliette was turned she kept wanting more power(and vengeance), it fueled her similar to how it fueled Adalind who was born that way. And then Renard who was half Zauberbiest fell for the allure of running Portland even if it that meant manipulating and killing those who trusted him. I don't know the whole deal, but it seems like hexenbiest and zauberbiest have a flaw when it comes to power and strength.
Once Adalind was suppressed she literally stopped using her powers except for an occasion like that knot thing and when they came back she broke someone's hand accidently(but he hit Rosalee, so he deserved worse). I thought this was a gem of a scene by the writers. This interaction with Nick and Adalind was the chance she had always wanted to finally have a big connection with him. Not many people remember as they watch the series that she and Nick had a connection in the first few minutes of the first episode even though she seen he was a Grimm and he saw her as a hexenbiest. Nick always denied how he felt because of that. He wouldn't have anything to do with Juliette because she turned into a hexenbiest. But it gave his character the strength to move forward with Adalind even though he was torn between the two. I loved how they wrote Adalind from this scene on and how strong she became to overpower the hexenbiest in her because of her love for him. It's funny - they were at odds and then you realize their "odds" were due to others around them and their fear of what may happen. When she forced his hand, literally, to touch her belly to feel the baby she was more than ready to run away with him using the guise of protection. Congratulations are more than in order for the writing team and their intricacies they used to tell a awesome story that unfortunately we didn't get to see enough of. 👏

And you're right the writers left the perfect foundation for some sort of spinoff with the ending showing the grown up Kelly and Diana, not to mention indicating that the triplets are involved as well. To me that's the perfect beginning of a storyline right there implying that Nick and Monroe's friendship is as strong as it ever was and Adalind and Rosalee becoming close friends during the 20 year time span as well. David Guintoli has always said he's quite happy to take part in a spinoff but as more of a guest role which again fits perfectly with him, Adalind, Monroe and Rosalee taking more of a back seat while their children take over the mantle. There are so many fans of the series who want to see this happen, not to mention to see Nick and Adalind actually get married and the fact that NBC can't see this is beyond me yet whenever I look online there is absolutely nothing about a spinoff anywhere! 😡

I do feel sorry for Adalind because throughout most of the series she was being used, blackmailed, manipulated, or coerced into doing things for other people. She wasn’t truly free to do as she liked until that ring came off, and Nick killed the uber wesen, basically the end of the show.

Juliette's character was a far better villain. The eyes lent a coldness and ruthlessness to the expressions of promised violence.

So you all expecting Juliette to be so nice after she is been through... Idk why people find her character boring..she was amazing in the whole series'...she literally showed how in reality people would react to certain things 😂😂😂...

    • @minsugd1751
      @minsugd1751 Před 3 lety +15

the thing is though juliette wasn’t in reality anymore at least not what she was used to before finding out about grimms, she’s in nick’s world now. it’s understandable that she was shocked, frightened, & overwhelmed after becoming a hexenbiest but it’s a bit much that her first course of action was to basically go on a rampage which really came out of her seeing nick’s reaction to her (a normal reaction that if given time he would’ve came around because he’s naturally a good person).
if she would have just tried to come to terms with it & not rush anything she could’ve seen that this was something that she could live a normal life with. it’s not even about being a hexenbiest but being wesen period. & as seen by monroe, rosalie & adalind, a normal life for her was possible but she wanted results right away. wu handled his transformation better than juliette honestly
also at least for me the reason i thought she was boring was because there was no character development. juliette had no introduction she was just there. kind of like hank, he didn’t develop much either to be honest

Oh wow. I watched it from the beginning and while waiting in-between seasons can be frustrating, it was a great experience. Binging can be great but when it's over you feel sad and an emptiness because there's no more and then you regret not having taken it slow. It's why I hate Netflix sometimes for giving us all the episodes of a new show at once, but sometimes I also love it.

Ever since Adalind went onto labor, she has been different. Before she was cold and calculating, but after, she has done everything for her child. They did put her in this situation, by not telling her that Kelly had Diana instead of the royals. They caused this to unfold the way it did, not Adalind.

Juliette had no right to be angry. She was already pretending like she didn’t care about Nick and that she didn’t have any love for him and then all of a sudden this happens and she acts like she cares. She can’t have it both ways. And also she cheated on him with the damm Captain.
