What you're experiencing is called ear squeeze. You need to equalize as often as possible as you're descending. The most common method is to seal your nose by pinching or somehow plugging your nose and try to blow out of it, you'll feel your ears push outwards. Try it right now and you'll see what I'm talking about. Another method to try is to swallow your saliva.
Thats not a spider crab, a spider crab has long legs that raise it's body off the floor, thats just a stereotypical crab that you think of when you think of a crab.

there are giant spider crabs making their way over here,to uk waters from russia. not sure about the sizes but from claw to claw I think 10ft would be average.
