  • At the start of this episode when listing his guests, Dennis said he'd never heard of Lush before which drew some jeers from the crowd, so that's why they laugh at how he introduces them in this clip. Miki and Emma each manage a little smile about it too.

@@shawnk7832 Me too ! Lush is a VERY important band in the history of modern pop music. Curve also. Slowdive also. Cocteau Twins started the shoegazer thing but these later, subsequent, groups enhanced it and improved it in SO many ways....their influence is felt today, 2022.

@@davidgeary490 - none of the bands you mention, including Lush, were considered "modern pop music". These were all considered "alternative" back in the day (I was there). ;) But I do agree their sound is felt even today - all of them. Bands like Beach House, Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils... all of these stand on the shoulders of Lush, Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, etc.

I was there! This is was recorded at the old Warner Bros Studios aka Tribune Studios and now known as the Sunset Bronson Studios which is where Netflix is located. For context Lush had to stop their performance due to a "technical" issue on the shows part but quickly restarted hence the sarcasm at the top by Dennis "You know I heard this band before..." Lush also performed a second song to end the show.

There you have the golden age of early alternative music. The 90's were a great time for this genre, and modern digital autotuned crap can't hold a candle to it. Micki and bandmates are tight, on key, and nailing it. Great band.

I never heard of weezer at the time either, as it was before the "sweater" song broke out. I remember sitting in the bleacher seats before the show and shared a beer and a conversation with some dude. Turns out that dude was Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer of weezer.
