My second video in this Costa Rica travel series with @TheAwkwardTourists and @trovatrip take us to La Fortuna, Costa Rica to swim the La Fortuna Waterfall! There are over 500 steps down (and back up!) so this is not for the faint of heart. Mom is almost 70 years old and climbed this hike like a boss.
Climbing down will give you lovely views of the lush green landscape and the waters of "the fortune" waterfall are very cold, but lovely, on these hot Costa Rican days. I'd wear snug water shoes with grip, pack a good amount of sunscreen, and a towel to dry off with.
Luckily they have areas to stop and rest on the climb up so take the time to sit and take in the jungle views. Be sure to take plenty of water since there aren't any offerings down at the waterfall base.
After you make the hike and swim, grab a snack at the restaurant and see the orchids if they are in bloom. La Fortuna Waterfall also has a butterfly garden to take a light stroll inside.
Later we hop on a boat ride at Jungle River Safari down the Tarcoles River outside Jaco, Costa Rica to see a lot of crocodiles, as well as other wildlife like Scarlet Macaws and an anteater. Then we end our day down at the beach town of Jaco where we will pick up this adventure in the next video with zip lining!

I love these travel videos! As a disabled person, I do cringe at some of the hurdles I’d have to jump to fully experience this beautiful place. I could push myself to do some of it but boy, would it hurt.
I completely understand. I feel like stairs have been the biggest hurdle I keep seeing on my travels. Some areas are improving on their accessibility options but we still have a long way to go.

LOVE THAT BAG😍😍😍. I will be traveling to La Fortuna for a week with a group of friends. I was actually looking for accessible things to do during our trip. I’m so heartbroken that I’m not able to do the waterfalls 😢. I decided to check out some videos to see what I would be missing and stumbled upon your video. Must’ve been fate, huh?😂 At any rate, I do love that bag. I’m curious 👀 does it come in red?
Hi there and welcome! Yes as much as we've come in accessibility for those with mobility restrictions, we still have a long way to go. That said, there is still a viewpoint to see the waterfall but it might not be worth the entry fee. Instead, look into accessible activities like Mistico Hanging Bridges, Paradise Hot Springs, or adaptive Ziplining with Il Viaggio Travel. Of course, the town of La Fortuna is beautiful and worth a mosey on a sunny day.
Sadly this bag doesn't come in red. This company is woman-owned and a small business that really put quality and care into its products. They do introduce new colors here and there so maybe they will have a red option soon.
