About this video: If you want to know how to download shaders for Minecraft 1.20.4, this is the video for you! We go over every single step of how to download and install Minecraft shaders 1.20.4. We do this without installing Optifine 1.20.4 as Optifine hasn’t updated yet.
How do we install shaders without Optifine 1.20.4? Well, we use the Iris Shaders mod. This is a Minecraft 1.20.4 shaders mod that will allow you to get shaders even if Optifine hasn’t updated yet. So, without anymore delay, here is how to download and install shaders for Minecraft 1.20.4!
First things first, we need to download Iris Shaders. You can find a link in the description to download Iris. That will take you to our text guide on how to get shaders with Iris in 1.20.4. On that page, click the “Download Iris Shaders” button to go to the official Iris Shaders download page.
On the Iris download page, click on the “Download Installer” button, and it will start downloading.
There is one more thing we need to download though, and that is a shader pack. Shader packs are how you can get different shader styles in Minecraft 1.20.4. In the description above, there is a link to some of the best shader packs that are out there. No matter what shader pack you decide to download, it is installed the exact same way.
With Iris Shaders and a shader pack downloaded, we can move on to how to install shaders on Minecraft PC 1.20.4. First, find the Iris Shaders installer file you downloaded. Open it with Java by double-clicking on it, and then, select the 1.20.4 Minecraft version. Finally, click the “Install” button and shaders will install in Minecraft 1.20.4 without Optifine.
Now open the Minecraft Launcher and play Minecraft using the Iris & Sodium for 1.20.4 installation.
Once Minecraft is open, click on “Options”, “Video Settings”, and “Shader Packs” at the top of the Video Settings tab. Here, you will see an “Open Shader Pack Folder” button in the bottom left. Click on that, and the shaderpacks folder will open.
Drag-and-drop and Minecraft 1.20.4 shaders packs you want to install into this folder. You can install multiple shader packs and easily switch between them!
With your shader packs installed, go back into Minecraft, and you will see them in the “Shader Packs” tab. Click on the shader pack you want to use and click “Apply”. You now have Minecraft shaders installed and working in 1.20.4!
You can change your shader options with the “Shader Pack Settings” button in the bottom left of the Shader Packs menu. This will let you change various options about the shader pack you have installed. It is worth nothing that ever shader pack has different settings though.

I know this video was made some time ago, so I don't know if it just updated the menus, but my menu after I press video settings is completely different from everyone else's that I'm seeing online. I've followed all the steps from this video and everything is so clear and it's been really helpful. My game is completely updated and has the latest version, but it's not showing me any kind of option to add shaders. I'm not quite sure what to do.

How do I get mods onto the Iris one? My mods are loading in the forge still but not to the Iris one, I am not sure if I set it up properly or not.

When running the shaders installation, I'm now losing every mod I had with my Forge installation. How would I combine the two when running my game?

Is there a way to access the single player world I'm currently working within inside of the "modded" Iris version with the shader packs? I don't really feel like starting a new world just for the shader packs. I remember doing this years ago on a much older version of Minecraft and having no issue with this.
Please help I downloaded it and it made all biomes have the swamp textures I turned swamp colors off but nothing happened btw Im not trying to use shaders I just use optifine features

This was an amazing video, the explanation was super clear and the steps were super easy to follow,=, great video man. I do have one question though, after downloading these shaders and using them, every time I leave the game open and try to leave the window and try to do anything outside the game while it's running the game crashes. Has anyone else had this issue and if so do you know if there is anyway I could fix it? I have tried but nothing has worked so far.

Make a world with the mods then close the game and open it with iris then you can have a modded world with shaders

BSL shaders from both websites download as a folder named "shaders" and when I drag it to the shaders pack in Minecraft it says it's not a valid pack.
I can't seem to figure out how to add essentials and worldesit with the shaders, i have them downloaded, i just don't know mix them together. They are on earlier verisions than 1.20.4 so that could be why
