I love how phelous' COMEDY SKIT established a better more believable time loop than the movie!!!!! 😄😅
As someone who discovered you for your animation reviews, I’ve always really liked this episode. That Triangle Song always pops in my head whenever I hear that melody.
To this day, when watching a movie or show that has some nonsense time travel mechanic, my buddy and I turn to each other and sing "Triangle, triangle, triangle, triangle…" *Every* single time.
One of my favorite of Phelous' horror movie reviews. Seeing him go over all the ways the time loop plot makes no sense is a treat.
This review still holds up so well. The way you weaved the movie's plot into your review and mirrored it, that's so good. My husband and I still sing Triangle, triangle from time to time. Your work is such a treasure!
Phelous' time-loop plot in his own skit section made more sense than the movie's.
Tbe awkward moment when Phelous' deliberately nonsense timeloop plot to parody the movie makes more sense than the movie's accidental nonsense timeloop plot.
This movie reminds me of a pivotal piece of advice I heard from Dean Cundey: _"Don't make a time-travel story unless you're going to make it good."_
I'm glad the world gave us you Phelous. I'm alive today because of you and your sense of humor. You made me laugh so much , through so many dark periods in my life. Thanks man. Btw I love this movie lol.

The *OBJECTION* sequences in this review were and still are some of the best review skits/breakdowns I've ever seen over 10+ years of watching many many reviews.
Boy, Phelous must be using that fancy skin treatment I've seen on ads on CZcams. It made him look 11 years younger.

The fact that the only reason anything goes wrong at all is due to Jess' continual, incomprehensible stupidity is one of most aggrevating plot devices ever conceived
Makes my heart warm to know that 12,000 people rewatched the Triangle review in little more than a day in 2021.
For me it was my introduction to this through the re-edit

How does the "loops restars once everyone dies" make sense, when Jess did not die and the loop restarted? For that matter, why did her future self think this is a good idea, instead of just escaping the ship?
I think the summary of the film is that the loop happens regardless of what happens. It doesn't follow any true reason, but she keeps trying to escape it fruitlessly.
She's stuck in hell with no escape.

I love this one. I still link the "Triangle" song to folks in chats whenever triangles are mentioned~
This is one of those unplanned, weird timing things, but I just realized watching these in-order: Hugo Stiglitz, the star of "Nightmare City" (the review immediately prior to this one) was ALSO in a badly dubbed Italian horror movie called... "Bermuda Triangle" about a boat crew that gets stuck in a time warp exploring the Bermuda Triangle. It'd be a bigger concidence if he wasn't in approximately 20 movies every year (up to and including this one).
Phelan's movie, toy, and TMNT reviews are always great to watch whenever, you're an entertaining man!

This type of movie would have needed a genius director to get it right, and even then, no guarantees.
Or Steven Moffat. Say what you will about his writing, he knows his timely-wimey stuff.
Oldschool Christopher Nolan could have gotten it right. Just go watch Memento for a true mindfuck.

The people responsible for these dreadful films should really be thanking you because without your reviews, their movies fail to be even the slightest bit entertaining. My english is not so good but I try to explain the "time travel plot holes":
Jess and her son died in the car accident. The taxi driver is a kind of "grim reaper". She wanted him to bring her to the port. He asked her "do you come back" (to accept her dead and leave) and she said "yes". But she didn't come back and tried to run away from the death. She and the others died in the storm. The loop is her punishment for running away (and maybe abusing her son). Which means the reaper created the loop. There isn't exactly a start of the loop with only one jess, there are always four of them. She could escape the loop if she wouldn't tell the reaper to drive her to the port. She should go with him and accept that she is dead.
It makes no sence in a scientific way of course if you look at the loop like it has something to do with time travel.... but it isn't time travel... it's kind of "magic" from the devil if you will😅
The movie wasn't intended to be scientifically correct.
I watched a lot of explanation videos about this movie because I was also so annoyed by the plot holes🙈
A story like that exists in the bible or something, and there are easter eggs in the movie about the "original story".

We are in a never ending time loop where FAIL US reuploads Triangle over and over!!!
Absolutely LOVE the Phoenix Right theme and Objection part popping up. I laughed so hard and you really nailed the contradictions. I like movies with that concept, but... this one.. really f***d it up... It's not well thought through at all.. and that makes it just one thing: stupid. Tossing the bodies overboard made them wet... and you all know what that means.. They're completely useless now!
This is the review that made me a fan all those years ago.

Honestly though, the idea of items and bodies piling with each loop is conceptually interesting. It's a nonsensical mess here, but a neat idea nonetheless

seems that when the Olson Twins went on that cruise when they where kids from that clip in that review you and Alison did the cruise was heading directly into *THE TRIANGLE*

Have you thought of reviewing the film Death Ship which is about a group of friends who get saved by a mysterious ship it came out before both ghost ship and triangle did back in 1980.

For anyone interested in a horror video game that has a similar premise but is executed (IMO) in a way better manner, I highly recommend checking out Cat in the Box. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually got inspiration from Triangle in some ways, but it makes a lot more sense plot-wise and adheres to its rules consistently.
I saw this movie a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I suppose the logic does come apart if you think about it, as is often the problem with time travel stories.

Time loop stories are intriguing but always seem to leave out how the loop got started.

Why am I getting Unedited Footage of a Bear vibes from this movie, specially the last bits with the mother killing herself and whatnot?
And like, this movie had a lot of potential, but it's such a mess!
Supposedly she is not in a time loop, but instead she is dead and in hell/limbo, so everything that happens is is part of her punishment for killing her son, meaning that she is trapped in a nightmare she cant escape from that endlessly loops. At least that was explained to me by someone who likes that movie

That also isn't at all supported by the movie.

This movie will make more sense if you actually imagine it as an alternate dimension instead of time travel, all these copies are just from alternate universes, that would help explain some of the errors.

I have watched this review several times, even caught the movie on Freevee or something. The only logical way the ending makes any sense is if the second loop starts everything, since that is when she broke time by killing her past self, and all the time displacement is a side effect. So the version that kills herself goes on to write the note, and the mirror note, and catch her necklace on the grate. But, since she kills her looped self mid way through, everything falls apart. Kinda like this movie.

I had some weird nonsensical dream that I won some contest and got to meet Phelan and he let me hang out at his place with him and Allison and he was pretty chill, we ate Canadian snacks that aren’t available in the U.S. then we went to some mall and I got lost. This is what happens when you go to sleep with his reviews on repeat. 10/10 would dream again 👌🏼

These Groundhog Day/Ghost Ship/Looper scenarios never end with the obvious, The time traveler falling in love with her other self and doing a time displacing make out scene.
I have always loved your movie reviews. I only wish there were more to sift through, Ive seen your whole channel aside from more recent turtles episodes. Keep up the grind Phelous!
