Brings back find memories. I worked on the production line at HP where that power supply was made. When the front panel was grey they were made in Berkeley Heights NJ. Later the color changed to mint green and they were made in Rockaway NJ. Thanks for the video.
Nice, I have the dual 40V version of this supply. It's a bit old school but works great on my bench. Hopefully one day you can find a replacement display or donor unit and get rid of the eye patch.
elsjaako I thought about it, but I don't have any experience with or access to a 3D printer ATM. I imagine the hardest part would be actually modeling the part so it can be printed. Seemed easier to just make do for now and wait for a replacement to pop up. :)
How about a couple of LED displays and replace both meters (Yeah, I know, there's something about a nice analog readout but at least they'd "match")? 73 - Dino KL0S
+Dino Papas Actually I think I may have found a suitable replacement - not the exact same model number, but it has the same form factor and the meter movements seem to be the same. Follow up video in progress!
I think the screw in the middle of the ammeter is making it stick.....probley has a jewel like a watch does...back off the screw a little..CCW I would melt the bracket a little with a soldering iron to hold it in...

Who came just because of the cat? And then was surprised to see two of them? :D
My cat does the same stuff! LOL. Got pics of him laying on top of my scope like he's really helping out.

dwDragon88 Yup, I'm just gonna keep an eye out for a cheap/broken one that has a good meter. Even so, it's nice to have an extra PS on the bench!
devttys0 Maybe you could 3d print something to hold the amp meter.

I think you can repair that thing on 6:59 by super glue. Or just cut new glass for gray part from plexiglas
Power supply with an eye-patch - perhaps a skull+crossbones emblem on the patch?!
What brand and model is that bit of kit(ty cat) atop the power supply in the beginning? :'D

Who makes that step-attenuator in the background?
Cisco8484 Kay Elementrics (model 432D). Indispensable in the lab!

Nice channel! Subscribed! why dont you try the cheap panel digital ameters
from china? They seem like they would fit more or less.
+Adil Malim I considered something like that, but the analog meters just look so nice! :)
I GUESS CATS ARE CURIOUS.
INSERT ONE DIGITAL METER......AND ENJOY !!!
How often do the cats get singed with the iron? lol
+Digger D So far I remain the only one with soldering iron burns, thankfully. :)
