    The explanation of how to fight for the open file with heavy pieces is so good. Everyone needs to watch this

  • @BrilliantCross

    That rook and d file explanation was so impressive lol I calculated like two lines and was like sure white wins the d file… and Aman in his true mastery shows not only fast high level calculation but also almost instant pattern recognition… all lines I couldn’t see at all lol truly impressive… this is why I love this channel

    I've played the Carro Kan nearly the entire time I've been playing chess (2 years) and was getting really bored with it. The Taimanov is exactly what I've wanted as an E4 defense, it seems like tactics come up everywhere, it's solid, and it has just been really fun to play while I gain ELO. Thank you, sir.

    From no chess to happy chess muppet in seven days. Created an CDC account a year ago but never played, no time. Happened to se an episode of Amans Stonewall Speedrun and liked the format and Amans easygoing explanations and general style. So. Stonewall Combined with Taimanov Aman style, inspired me to start playing and got me to a whopping 1205 in seven days with no prior chess experience.
    Thx Chessbrah, for excellent and inspiring content.

    Very cool battle for the d file! As long as white doesn't play Rd2 it looks like whoever is up in tempe should win the file though. E.g. Position at 41:26 is symmetric - it doesn't make sense that black is winning the file in both cases (whites move or blacks move). If its black to move black wins the file, else white wins the file. If whites move: Rd3 Rd6 Rd1 Rd8 Qc2 - black doesn't have anything better than the copy cat Qe7 Rd2 Rd7 Qd1

    Aman, maybe you should start to make some small videos that package things like the fight for the open file with rooks and queen. In general, I think that there are maybe many situations where, having equal material, a slight change in setup will lead to distinct results. Surely, there is stuff in the endgame. However, I would particularly be interested in topics that occur in the middlegame.
    Btw. the same principles should work for batteries on diagonals (Bishop and Queen), right?

  • @Darckseyes
    @Darckseyes Před 2 měsíci +1

    42:30 Rd2 should let white win the file? In a (mostly) symmetrical position like this, black shouldn’t always win the file.
