Thanks Tbull, I went up a rank after watching this video. It inspired me to switch to using destroyers. If you want it done right you gotta do it yourself.
Still, the players who remove themselves from the game by not engaging and staying behind islands are infuriating. Sometimes they are trying outflank the enemy but they are choosing the absolute wrong times to do so.
Yeah, just gotta focus on what you can do.

My Bey is bigger than his Bey. LOLOL
I've ranked out using the T-61 in 90% of the games, I used the Nurnberg twice and the Fubuki about 3 times. I use Von Spee with Bey and Tyrwhitt as inspiration, with a stealth/torp build. It worked quite well, you can't be as aggressive as a gun boat build and you can find yourself suddenly out gunned, but being able to spam torps has it's advantages.
My hints for destroyers in ranked are:
1: Caps are everything. But don't all rush one cap and leave the others uncontested
2: Staying alive is good, but hiding at the back is a waste. Remember if your team loses, if you're not in first place you lose a star.
3: Try staying near your team mates so they can give you fire support.
4: Battleships are big juicy targets and are effectively xp piñatas, but prioritise enemy destroyers first. Don't go chasing a battleship that is high tailing it to the other end of the map when there are still caps in the enemies control.
Have fun, it's not that hard to rank out!
Pretty solid guidelines
This is a great little ship. It's been my go to in Ranked battles. Amazing Destroyer at its tier. It's good to great in all areas. Torps are better than Mahan and Fubuki, range wise at least, being able to stealth torp more easily with my base detection range at 5.5km with 8km torps is an advantage the Mahan and Fubuki can't match. Guns are good, not quite as good as the Mahan but I think as good or better than the rest. The Sonar is great when in smoke and flushing out enemy destroyers hiding in it.
I watched this video when it first came out & everything you say is correct, I had to switch to dds to get more wins in ranked battles as many dds are interested in sinking bbs only which is very frustrating .

Your spot on.. I got rank 6 pretty quick by capping an staying alive.. which ever team gets 2 caps usually wins by points. Even being down 2 or 3 ships..
Yeah playing the objectives definitely matters for this event
In a game last night I had two BB's chasing one Fubuki at the farthest most corner of the map for damn near the entire match. We lost the match on points because of that BS. I've never wanted to slap someone so bad in my life. Posted in the Discord regarding your inspirations on Bey. Great vid as always!

First game I played was in warspite fired on a Pensacola that was fully health one salvo citadel it and detonation got a first blood and won the match

My remark about ranked is the matchmaking. I am rank 6 currently and to be honest winning or losing is based on the team roster. If the majority are 10 or 9 it's over , (unless there is a great player to carry, whom I am not). I mean they don't have anything to loose.
And it beats the essence of ranked.

I am up to rank 5 and I took it to heart been playing cruisers and been doing pretty well the matches I have lost are from dumb teammates not knowing their role in the game or they employee the black hole strategy and we lose on points because we have no caps. I have been using the Aoba as my main cruisier with my level 14 Yamato and 16 Scott as inspiration. as always pleasure to watch

Ive only lost one game and I am at rank 4 now the aoba is just amazing in this gamemode: you can lure battleships out of position by shooting them over an island you can punish any destroyer who plays to agressive and if you angel your armor well you cant be citadelled from 10+km. Its by far the best tier 5 cruiser from ranked just like you said Tbull cause I myself thought that it would be the Nürnberg(my english is terrible:)

Yes! At issue, is having the rest of your team doing their part. On many occasions, I’ve seen defeat snatched from the jaws of victory by teammates focused on destroying enemy ships. Sure, it’s good to take guns out of the game, but resetting the cap should be the primary concern. If your DD is having to do it, cause they’re the only one who has LOS/LOF, that DD will be exposed and deleted. The other problem, in my opinion, is entire teams going to one capture point, usually the one in the middle (“B”) on Shards. We’re talking two DD’s (I’m the third DD heading to “A” or “C”), three cruisers, and the BB. Then there’s the comedy, “Reversing Arizona.”
Yeah a lot of typically bad plays, not much can be done about it 😉

Yeah try and play the destroyer a bit conservative in ranked. Rather stay alive a long time and continue to spot. Like you say, q lot of teammates won't do a good job covering you if you push

Tbull, thanks for the tips. What seems to work best on North for you? It seems to me the whole team rushes to the one cap and leaves that distant cap alone and then fights back and forth over the two controlled caps.
I think controlling the two objectives on the west is the way to go

Hi tbull. What is that rotating circle around your crosshair? It seems it always pointing to enemy. How to get that on the ship?
It's the twist and track perk that some destroyer commanders have. Bey, Halsey, Kurita and Swirski currently are the ones that have it

The T61 in my opinion in a 1v1 environment is so overpowered. The guns do ridiculous damage for its reload time and the concealment is outrageous. Most of the time in my ranked battles i play teamates dont even shoot the destroyers. On top of that you cant even communicate with ps4 (vise versa with xbox) so you cant even tell your teamates to help. I think ranked has potential, but is a bit broken right now.
Bad teammates will always be a feature, at least for the lower ranks
Also, this layout on straight is how all straight matches are on pc even for random battles.

With 3 cap zones in the middle, like we have in Domination, I find that the side with the most confidence wins easily...one team caps all 3, while the other sits back and "awaits developments"...😳😠
@@Zapranoth-lf8nt sometimes thats the case, often though the opposite, the team that gets too confident and places too much emphasis on capping with the bigger guns can often find themselves all dead on trying by a couple of opposing BBs waiting patiently in the background for some over-eagerness.
But I completely support the idea of the DDs capping as their primary objective, but I cry when I see Battleships attempting to jump on B in the first few minutes of the game.

Hey Tbull. So I think you need to do another dedicated video to the Pensacola because so far, in everyone of my ranked games no one knows how to play it. They all just sail in and die in the first 20 seconds of game. I have lost all but one of my 6 ranked games so far because of suicidal players who dont know how to play properly.

Began ranked with Kraken in the Gaede. Switched to Mahan when started getting 4-5 DD's per game. Thought that was limited to 3?
Hit rank 5 with 4 losses, only 1 dropped star, 17 games in all, so ranked shouldn't be too long a grind.
I know theres a limit of 2 DDs per division but I've also seen quite a few games with 4 and 5 DDs
Yeah they misspoke about the DD limit being per team, it is just a limit of two DDs per div

Likely a little of both, I'd say...I'm avoiding Ranked because I have no time to play it enough to progress very far, and I don't want to let my teammates down with average play...

Destroyers are crucial for winning ranked matches. They rush in and try to cap. Cruisers should be close to them to support them against enemy DDs. BBs should blast any enemy cruiser who dares to rush in. Just stay alive, most of these matches are won by points so making damage is not primary objective. Me and my friend went up to rank 5 the very first day, just using this tactics. Good luck

Is it just me or do the T-61's guns seem a bit... wonky? Some shots stray quite far from my point of aim, especially the highest mounted fore cannon.
There's a bit of variability in them, but doesn't seem too out of the ordinary for a DD

I was lost right at first the strategies for ranked is quit different then normal matches.
Would you recommend buying the Colorado first or the Baltimore?
It depends what kind of player you are. Are you a battleship player or cruiser.

Then Baltimore is a good choice. The American 203mm AP shells are dangerous. It can do some serious damage even against battleships. But keep in mind going toe to toe with any tier 7 battleships will cause premature death. Keep your distance.

I don't have a viable german cruiser commander right now, so I won't be busting those ships out for this season

I would like to propose. Before anyone can play ranked that they must first pass a licence test to prove there not an idiot. It's so very frustrating when your team is full of people that have NO idea how to play there ships.
I got in a ranked battle with 5 destroyers ! The probability of 5 good destroyer players is smaller.
Moreover, not all the ranks are irrevocable so you can end up battling for a rank twice. There is no fun 😤
I'd just focus on staying alive. once dead, the teammates usually go out of their way to throw the match

I'm one of those guys that runs around away from the mob. Reason being is that I found for winning the match it benefitted the team when I'd draw 2-3 enemy ships after me because I was torping from behind. I get the stand and fight mentality with the other destroyers, but the Fubuki is what I know the best (and have the commanders upgraded for) and it's suicide to hang around and fight other destroyers with it. I'm interested to see what cruisers you've been having luck with.
If you're the one drawing the enemy away from the action then it can definitely work. Chasing enemies to the far reaches of the map for no strategic reason won't pay off very often though
