I never read the books and had no point of reference of how this fight was supposed to go, but when saw this scene I still said “that’s it?”
Me too! It was so anti-climactic. I wanted more.
To sum it up: I wouldn't label him as integral but he was vilgefortz henchman in the books for a good majority of the time after these events, so it's kinda out of the blue that they just killed him off
His death in a book was better and more fitting for him
Hang on... THAT'S Reience's death? So much worse than in the books
Wouldn't ne surprised If He came Back. They probably killed him, because of the actor switch
they literally killed such a great villian in 10 seconds help 😭
He was always going to die but it was supposed to be very diffenert
@@pheonix894 shouldn't he drown after losing fingers due to Ciri skating? They are criticized for being woke but stole one of best Ciri's scenes making it typical "man saves defenseless women"
@@Petaurista13defenseless???
I thought Rience got bullied throughout the show lmaoo
Still 1000% better fight scen then Crabfeeder vs Daemon...
As a fan of the books, this death had me fuming since it shouldn’t happen for at least another more season or 2
Yeah, I agree. His death here is so damn unsatisfying. In the books, Rience's death is extremely cathartic.
The writers liked the idea of Ciri being the " wine girl " for the Lodge for a moment .
But appareantly they didn't like the way Rience died in the books 🤦♂️.
I wanted Ciri to kill him in the show .
Maybe Cavill made the right choice for leaving .
I was fuming cause his death in the books is such an epic moment for ciri
On the wiki it said he drowned in a lake...wtf
@@QuangTran27 Bit more to it but yeah, that's kind of the gist
I never read the books or played the game but this death felt so disappointing, a villian we have been hunting and looking for around 8+ episodes! And he died like some common enemy with one shot to the head, didn't like that at all, thats not cold geralt moment this is just bad writing.
Rience had a little Darth Maul finale ...in a bad way .
Ye they end it so fast normaly he hunting ciri to an ice lake and there he got is frozen graveyard
This legit reminded me of the Night King death in GoT lol someone they had built up so well only to die so easily
@@Lifeofra_ Best example of what I felt seeing this scene.
in the real lore this guy overwhelms geralt, regis and yennefer combined.
“I, Rience, taught her pain. With these hands, with these fingers. And I promised her that should you fall into my hands, princess, I would also teach you pain. With these hands, with these fingers…”
I suppose Stefan Skellen and Leo Bonhart will have to work overtime to fill the vacancy left by Rience’s death.
Taught who pain?
Welp, there goes one of Ciri's most memorable kills from the books...
At least she got to cut his fingers in both versions /s
Recasting him was a mistake anyway. The guy from Season 2 was so charismatic.
They had no choice
@@bestbuildereu109 there not talking about him
Geralt giving rience a fresh smooth haircut.
Rience:just a bit off the head, please...
Geralt:
I legit turned off Netflix and refused to watch the rest after this happened. Wtf were the writers thinking? The most iconic moment from the books is now wasted for this?!
He will likley be replaced by Steffen Skellen or other book characters.
@@fredrico665and whos is gonna torture *you know who* and how can we get satyafying death. Also Philoippa was supposed to save him from Geralt on first encounter.
@@Cross8ow will probably change some stuff.
@@fredrico665 they have to, but whole hate towards rience buildup through 4 books thrown out of window
All of stuff that they’ve changed and yall still throw your hands up when they change more. Why are you surprised? What were you expecting?
Well, I guess Rience took Artaud Terranova's death from the books. Seeing as Artaud is also decapitated by Geralt in the same scenario.
"i have no master"
geralt: " yea and you have no head neither"
The hair being cut is awesome. It shows how Witchers keep their swords sharp.
Right now im reading Blood of Elves so I dont know how he dies in the books but I feel it was too quick here. I liked how his hair was cut tho
Dies way later, but Ciri chopping off his fingers is a reference to how that happens. Honestly though, he’s not that present again after BofE for awhile…
His death in the books makes this scene feel like a waste for how cool it would look, if adapted well for TV.
Just read Reince’s true death in the book, and- no words. 🙄
I see he is practicing for his Highlander role.
"I have no master"
*dies*
I was so looking forward to the ice skating scene. What a waste of a death.
Rience: "I have no master"
Geralt: "Or a head"
Rience death scene is one of the best death scenes in the book. Without spoiling anything for anyone, it cements Ciri as a ruthless badass. It is sad to see the route netflix has taken to ruin this amazing lore with great actors and production value.
Heh that was the most smooth kill ever
Rience is my favorite evil character and they turned him into a bafoon 😅
Rience was always a buffoon. He certainly couldn't fight with a sword like the tv series version.
Clean as windows before christmas😲
This fight, the boat fight and the elves fight are completely different from the books and the reason they happen are also changed in the show, this is a shame, looks like they didn't read the books
this ISNT the whole clip btw. they cut some stuff out for this edit.
The fact that this fight was less than half the length of this video (sorry I should have called this a clip not a video), tells me that the show runners were totally done with this series.
0:15 haircut
"Almost at the stables" "We need to get to the ferry" pick a lane, writers
Need to get to thw stables to ride to the ferry
My eyes... Bleeding...
This is the most realistic beheading because he also cut his hair
As someone who hasn't read the books or played the games, when I first saw this, my immediate reaction was more or less "Holy shit! That was badass! I gotta watch that again!" However, not long after I found myself thinking that it was a waste and that they could have used him a lot more leading up to this moment:
- Have him actually be invited to the Conclave and interact with Geralt and Yennifer, wanting to kill each other but unable to do so. And he could interact with other characters who are either suspicious of him or want him on their side.
- Have him take part in the battle that ensues, possibly killing some major character before tracking Yennifer as she escapes.
Either one or both of those would've had me chomping at the bit even more to see this guy meet his end, thus making the kill more satisfying.
Instead, he just randomly shows up and finds Yennifer and Ciri with no explanation and dies a few seconds later.
By the way, I've seen in the comments that Ciri is in fact the one who is supposed to kill him sometime later, and after watching her last fight of this season, I can honestly say that I would have LOVED to see that.
Still a bad ass kill by Geralt. But from a story and character perspective, it's a tragic waste
that was how Vilagfort looked and died in the books
Wow its a long time ago I have seen THAT bad special effects in a THAT big budget production. Standards and quality are really low nowadays.
U trippin the effects are flawless
@@mcjug1350then you must have exceptionally low standards.

wow I remembered that a little bit diffrent when Ciri killed Rience in a iced lake :)
So, nobody noticed Ciri cut the fingers he used to burn Jaskier? Anybody? No?
because no one cares about it. this death is a joke
in this season we never feel that Ciri needs anyone's help to protect her. which is weird if you think about it
Ему дали не больше шансов, чем Королю Ночи, жаль.
One another scene they not so in the books… rience died at a frozen see by ciri not getting beheaded by geralt … this tv show i hope they bring „leo bonhart“ and kill a rats easly 😂 poor ciri
I remember this was the exact scene where I stopped watching the Witcher :( never finished the series. Oh well, s1 was so great.
what im wondering is.... why didnt yen just throw the sword through rience? why didnt she just kill him? why did she throw her sword past him so someone else could kill him?
Геральд должен был сказать:
- Остаться должен только один.
Гарри отлично подошел бы на роль Горца (Highlander)
His death in books, although less gruesome, but way more satisfying, and if anyone is wondering, ciri kills him instead of geralt. He literally begged her
0:12 -> when, regardless of the state of their relationship, both parents always sync up when it comes to the welfare of their child. I know this scene was not about that, but I still think it's cute.
bro you drop your head
The series misunderstands the Witcher legend... Witcher is supposed to be at least 20 years older than Ciri, not 5.
Never knew Yennefer and Ciri got hit with an ugly stick.
Women producing a show never cast more attractive people than themselves bc it hurts their feelings
His death in a book was better
0:13 Fatality
i kid you not when i said this, but a literal fan fiction (The Divine Hunter) made by a random chinese dude is WAY better than an entire netflix show😂😂😂😂
i beg u guys to try reading it if u love the witchers universe (books / game)
I havent even read the books and this is probably the worst, most rushed, laziest death I have ever probably seen on screen.
Гавнище а не сериал
Как истинный фанат книг про ведьмака и игр, сериал сделали ПОЛНОЙ ХНЁЙ
Просто слёзы на глаза наворачиваются, а ведь мог быть ещё один шедевр по типу игры престолов

Witcher isn't just chopping off limbs and heads
WTF!!!! Gerald did not kill Rience - Ciri did it!!! She cut his fingers off with ice skates on a frozen lake... Those fingers he tortured Yennefer
Good start season 1 then later wtf happening to the movie 🤷🤷😂🤣
Rience's death in the books was so much better
This is so bad that i'm more hurt then Rience loosing 3 fingers at once. Read the books folks! So much better!
They did Rience such a dirty for season 3. His character came across as lacking drive and personality compared to last season. That and this season seemed rushed in general, compared to the last two.
Why didnt he burn Ciri?
Badass 🔥
The show just doesn't look right. It needs a a more grounded, gritty rough and earthy tone.
There’s a reason he bugged out on the series…..
Is this an actual scene or is this edited? I stopped watching after season 2
didnt he die burned by the Druids?
nie. akurat to półelf Schirrú razem ze Słowikiem i jego hanzą zostali spaleni przez Druidów. Rience zginął w innych okolicznościach przez utopienie w jeziorze
They "Deus Ex Machina'ed" the hell out of Rience, Spoiler alert but Ciri is the one who takes out Rience much later by sliding her kick-ass DIY stakes on his 8 fingers causing him lose hold and drown in the frozen lake
Ok... For now Arya Stark killing Night king is the most epic scene of a shitty cinema of 2021 and every other fucking year...
Yennefer is a psychopath
Why does yen look better in the game same with Ciri lol
Rience was basically a nobody in the books. He loses to everyone and would’ve been killed by Geralt or Yennefer in Blood of Elves if Vilgefortz wasn’t constantly saving his ass. So as someone who’s read the whole series twice I had zero problem with this death. Ciri cutting off his fingers in a nod to her killing him in the books was actually a nice Easter egg. Best episode of an otherwise terrible show.
No argument from me other than denying Ciri her ice skating rink of death. It's a shame for them to nullify that or god forbid replace it with some random villain.
But I remember Rience as little more than a fool. A VERY persistent and dangerous fool, but not someone who could actually match Geralt or anything.
How disappointing. It's a major growth of ciris character that she kills him herself in The Tower Of The Swallow (a good 2 books after the events of Thanedd). But just having Geralt save the day ? Way the render any agency from the girl. Boooo
Then again, the producers strayed VERY far from the books, The Witcher’s sole source material, so what can you really expect? It was supposed to stay in line with the books, which was *a promise written in blood* on the producers’ parts, but they then fucked it all up & ruined everything by mid-season 2.
Throwing out thinking aboutthat crap
Peep the hair cut he gave him?
Meh. That's not the uber hot Yennefer from the games..
That was underwhelming...
Reinces death was too quick. Honestly, it was very disappointing and very rushed. I expected a far greater far more grueling death for someone who’s been such a pain. I kinda wanted him to suffer. Is that wrong of me to say?
What is this? In book... ehh

listen i literally don’t care about how rience died or if it was “too quick” this was BADASS and i literally had an “oh shit????” moment. this episode was my red wedding episode for this show idc. it was fast paced but the shock value >>>>
also this isn’t even the whole clip they definitely cut some parts out
Can someone tell me why female characters should be so ugly in the movie? In the book, they are described as beautiful...
Why does this look so fake lol

@@mcjug1350you & Itachi are both idiots, though; it’s supposed to be in-line with what was written in the books! BUT, because the producers gave *less* of a shit with Sapowski’s writings & giving credit to his source material, the producers of this trash heap drew alternate scenarios from a hat & decided that GERALT should kill him instead of Ciri dealing the killing blow.

A lot of people hated this scene because it 'didn't follow the books' or the game. But you all have to remember. Netflix almost lost Henry because they were 'trailing' too far from the original story. As Henry is a Witcher fan himself. However...... in my humble opinion, despite the show not being anywhere close to the games or the books, seeing Geralt decapitate that guy and seeing the look on Rience's face was priceless. I had to watch him getting his head cut off and seeing Geralt just walk off like 'Don't touch my family, flame fucker' multiple times. Even for someone who has never played the game or has read the books, this scene showcases Geralt's OP dotting daddy complex well and gives the audience an idea of just what he would do for his Ciri.
What do you mean "almost lost henry"? They did lose Henry. This was his last season.
netflix sucks
Reason number one I wont watch season 3...fuck off Netflix.
why does it look so lame XD
Faces... 🤮
Why does it look so cheap and corny
I will never understand the hype about this show. The only good thing about it was Cavill and that's just because the dude is hot lol. Every single other thing was mid as hell, including the ridiculous fight scenes. Lmfao
I know everyone hates this scene and for good reason, but come on! The way he was dispatched was awesome! Yen throws the sword towards him, Geralt catches it midair and proceeds to cut his head off with one clean slice.
Sword-throwing is kind of played out at this point.
Lazy inaccurate writing, and the most anti climactic death after 1-2 seasons of him terrorising them. Pah
What terrible writing
