    Did anyone else get excited when he loops the song at 3:43 and for a minute you think, wow a song in 15/8, I haven't heard that since Tubular Bells 1973. Oh well, back to 4/4 everyone :/

    You're the only one making videos like this to sculp this lounge chill rhodes tone. I have been trying to find out how to remake the intro to Triangle Sun's Song - Beautiful. It has been extremely challenging for me but this kind of gets me close. If you ever hear it, it would be a great tutorial and I hope someone someday could sell me a patch or VST for that.

      Joe Gil Izotopes harmonic exciter is essentially a multi band saturator as well. Saturn is my go to on vocals and drums, warm tape is nice

    For me it wasn’t until you played the mix that I heard the magic. And I agree too about paying attention to the feel, cause it’s less obvious perhaps than the nice sound. Thanks for posting 😀

    LOVED this episode, huge Jill Scott and soul/r&b fan in general. This track is a little slower and more sparse - would be grateful to hear any tips on mixing Rhodes in faster tracks like "Golden" that also have some more going on in them.

  • @VictorKrottner
    @VictorKrottner Před 7 lety +6

    Not really on the same subject but maybe you'll extend a kindness to a long time follower. anyway, My piano stereo recordings are great. But when I drop the output down to mono and my stereo piano sound collapses to a mono center sound the volume can drop by as much as 60% and the clarity is gone completely, so, in mono I have nothing and since so many people listen to songs on their smart phone before they buy them I was wondering what tips you could give me to maintain a stereo feel even in mono. Thank you.

    • @sonnybrasco9735
      @sonnybrasco9735 Před 7 lety +2

      Victor Krottner I would suggest engaging a mono switch on your master fader and then making your panning decsions from there. That way you know it won't disappear according to your decision in the mix.

    • @SteveSavagemusic
      @SteveSavagemusic Před 2 lety

      Agree with Sonny. Very often when I mix I go to mono, early on usually, and just leave it there and forget that I'm in mono. Mix for a while, and like Sonny said, not only make sure panning is working but also make sure the clarity of the middle of my track is there. So many people wonder why their mixes don't add up. While we could name a million reasons why... this is actually commonly one of the biggest reasons. Never - and I do mean never - underestimate the power and absolute need to mix in mono. Oh wow, I just noticed this is 5 years ago. I'm hoping by now that someone has helped you figure that out!

    Hi evryone! I'd like to know if the Rhodes was plugged in directly or miced. Just bought a Rhodes and I'd like to record it but don't know what to use: soundcard (RME, Apollo Twin, Scarlett...) DI box, Tascam USB 16x08... Kinda lost here :) Thanks

    • @Emmanuel.Gasser
      @Emmanuel.Gasser Před 6 lety

      Hi! Most keyboard instruments and synths are recorded through a DI or a preamp. Depends on how much you wanna do to it before it goes into the computer. A matter of taste really. Kudos on getting a Rhodes, it's an amazing, classic instrument.

      It is. BUT, quite often it goes into a Fender or a Roland amp system for that classic sound. You mic up the speaker much like you would a guitar amp.
