I saw one parked the other day, black on black with the gold callipers peeping out, and from that moment on I will never understand why all the comments on its looks, to me it looked great
Nayid Cruz Arce Because most AMG vehicles are in the same time luxurious and classy, but they can also be beasts of monstruous power and never ending drifts.
***** a 2004 Ford Ranger, definitely not as expensive or nice as an SLK but that still doesn't prevent me from having the opinion that the SLK, TT, and Z4 are feminine and underpowered 'wanna-be' sports cars
You really have to see these in person to appreciate them. I had my reservations, but then I saw a couple in the flesh earlier this year and it all starts to make sense.Long low and classy.
There's nothing ugly about this car, it's just incredibly stealthy. That low long and menacing look this car has is amazing in person. Ugly? I doubt it. But it is kind of scary looking. Black on black wheels with gold calipers - indicating carbon ceramics - this thing is one of the best looking AMG Mercs on the road. They're so rare too.
Looks like a fuicking Miata that got bullied at school and decided to pump itself full of 'roids. Menacing? It looks like something my mum wouldn't mind driving.
Chris... man, you ROCK. I love your reviews. They are spot one, very revealing and always entertaining. Keep it up. I do love this car and yes, i agree, its Bipolar thats why is "bi-turbo."
I have this car, with the performance package and Designo design. Awesome fun. I am not the driver Mr. Harris is. But , it is bi-polar. I simply love it
I Have A 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS, 5 Speed Manual Transmission, 2.4 4 cylinder, I made a mistake by Revving the engine in my Car to one of these Beasts at a stop light, When the Light came Green, The race was over before it even started, These cars are amazing machines, The Engine Sounded like it had a Rabid Pitbull underneath the hood. Incredible performance.
9 years later and I return knowing full well that the car landscape is changing for the worse. God bless this engine and bless you Chris Harris for your continued journalistic optimism
I have a 2014 and absolutely love this German Muscle car. It delivers the thrills of late 60’s and early 70’s AMERICAN muscle with German quality and superb engineering. I love the Muscle look of the car, and the hard top convertible is amazing. A good used low mile example is one of the best automotive examples on the market for anyone who actually drives their prize, but they also look good in the garage with other toys.
Same here. I locked in at 2017, buying an AMG S63 Cab with very low mileage. I'm in my 70s, so it will serve me for the rest of my life (if need be). S-Class smooth in Comfort mode, very sexy in Sport mode. Are there cars that will beat it on track? Of course. That's not why most of us buy a $210,000 convertible (of course, I paid less buying it used).
if only there were more people like harris review cars. he can always strike a balance between having enough good driving shots, and giving a good in depth summery of the automobile that he is driving........
Chris Harris is awesome! And the drive channel is the best automotive based series of shows out there period. They need a television network it's all I'd ever watch
Very good Chris! Interesing, informative and no BS review, i like it very much. Thanks for doing it! As a suggestion i might add that you would use a lens hood the next time for in-car camera (canon 60d?) to get rid a bit of the lens flare. The sound quality is amazing, good job on that! Oh and also would have loved to hear you elaborate on the eletro-mechanic power steering.
CZcams... The best website on the Internet hands down. Keep it up google. (Srsly: amazing episode as usual, although you've spoiled us in recent episodes by giving us many many minutes of viewing pleasure. 7 seems like little by comparison, although that's probably only due to being short-staffed. you're a class act, mr Harris)
He's probably not the best at it, but I'm not sure why I enjoy watching him drift all these cars week after week. Short video, but entertaining as always. Thanks Chris.
Mercedes SL63 Bi-Turbo AMG is very tail happy here with stability control minimized and very powerful...grandpa was crazy about having the first Mercedes in Vienna; his tail needed to hang out more.
Chris your videos are great but i have one comment about the audio. im not sure if its just my speaker setup but the audio with you talking in the car is much lower in volume than when you are narrating over the video. If you fixed this it would make it much easier to listen to. Thanks
The people that that critique these cars should own them and maintain them for a while like this man. A ten or twelve year old model that has been maintained you will have what you see in this video.
Great review as always, i like it, wonder tho how much cheaper it is than an sls roadster, not really comparable but wonder if the sls is worth the extra money
I'm starting to love these sort of split personality cars. Cars like the F10 M5, and this new SL63 AMG are very exciting in the sense that it's quiet and collected one moment, and then push it, and then there will be a mountain of smoke behind you.
bi turbo is another term for sequential turbo, one smaller one for low rpm and a larger one for high rpm, in an effort to reduce lag, and twin turbo means 2 turbos the same size
Well i just did a test drive of the sl400 and the sl63 in london park royal, now the diffrence is insaine, however to be honest the sl400 is also very very nice and in sport plus it sounds crazy on down shift and still very fast... the sl63 is just a beast full stop.. it burys me in tje seat and the sales guy next to me u see his face turn from smile to cracked concrete lol in just like what feels like 3 seconds to 80mph from a rolling drive, its a beastly push on ur chest, but its a diffrent push its a long smooth rush of g force and fcuk it makes u smile so much.. every one looks . And its not a ugly looking car, in person its awesome especially in gunmetal metalic or mat grey wrap. And bronze rims.. Anyway theres a black series bodykit out by some polish or usa firm on ebay, it transforms it into a rhino tank thing .. with the baddest vented hulk bonnet i seen. Its in dark grey the bodykit images.. mercedes sl 231 black series wide body..
Never been an AMG fan but I really like this car! Couple of issues though. Why does it have electric steering? (like everything else these days) and why does it have an ECO mode on the dash when this is supposed to be driven hard? If you look at 5:56 there's the ECO mode I'm referring to
Totally agree. It does everything but it could look a bit better. The facelift version of the outgoing model (2008 - 2011 I think) was a better looking car to my eye. Not that this is ugly, it just doesn't blow my mind every time I look at it like the previous one.
I saw one parked the other day, black on black with the gold callipers peeping out, and from that moment on I will never understand why all the comments on its looks, to me it looked great
"bipolar" I think it's one of the best definition of any AMG vehicle ^^
Why?
Nayid Cruz Arce Because most AMG vehicles are in the same time luxurious and classy, but they can also be beasts of monstruous power and never ending drifts.
I agree. I personally think that the standard versions are kinda boring, they just have one personality.
I agree. I love my 2009 SL63 AMG without turbo. I still can't haul a 4x8 sheet of plywood without a lot of trouble. 8.5out of 10..
I have no clue why people say it's ugly. It's fucking gorgeous if you see its details.
I think the SL actually looks better than the SLS, fully agree with you
***** SLK and Z4 and audi tt for that matter are hair dresser cars, ugly and underpowered
TT is in the same class as Blyth of those cats. I like the SL series in general but definetly not the slk.
***** a 2004 Ford Ranger, definitely not as expensive or nice as an SLK but that still doesn't prevent me from having the opinion that the SLK, TT, and Z4 are feminine and underpowered 'wanna-be' sports cars
An S4 is in the same price range and is a much better looking car.
You really have to see these in person to appreciate them. I had my reservations, but then I saw a couple in the flesh earlier this year and it all starts to make sense.Long low and classy.

@@NikoBell12 Mercedes has something about it that I can't let go of. I love their cars.

Awesome video!
I've always loved the SL series. Glad you picked this car to review!
Look at those seats!! Luxury.
Chris Harris on Cars... The best program on the drive network hands down. Keep it up man.
Fantastic, I've been thinking about watching this all day!
The Drive Network... The best channel on youtube hands down. Keep it up guys.
Ppl think this car is ugly? Whaaat? Lol then so is every other car then XD. It's gorgeous
Super Kawaii Kitty They must be blind. I love it

Great review, I wish this model had the previous model's styling with all the current attributes! Seating looks awesome. Thanks Chris!
he expressed all my emotions towards this car ! One of the best reviews ever Chris !
This car is beautiful. Awesome review and driving as always Chris.

I really hope you do a rewiew of the SL 65 AMG when the time comes Chris.Your rewiews are the best.
if only there were more people like harris review cars. he can always strike a balance between having enough good driving shots, and giving a good in depth summery of the automobile that he is driving........
Another great video Chris!
Fantastic review with a great ending. "I just wish it looked a little bit better." That's exactly how I see it.
Another 5 star video. You drive these sports cars the way they should be driven: with style. Keep it up.
I don't know why guys are so in love with you, Chris, but you are a great reviewer. Great show
Those tires never stood a chance...
Awesome review! Short and sweet and to the point!
Chris Harris is awesome! And the drive channel is the best automotive based series of shows out there period. They need a television network it's all I'd ever watch
its all about of the point of taste - this car looks fabulous gorgeously. I love this stylish silhouette.
bipolar is the perfect word for that car! Great stuff as always!
when Chris Harris is involved...its always a great review :)
Great and entertaining review!
Fantastic car!Perfect color and those black rims-awesome!10/10

very good publicity, thanks for uploading the video
Chris is, by far, the best car reviewer I know.
Beautiful video, wonderful vehicle.
Excellent car journalism. I'm wondering what Chris' thoughts would be on the SL65 with the V12. Even more bonkers I assume!
just curious what happened to the porsche classic video?did it ever come out?
Thank you, Mr. Chris Harris.
Interior is SICK.
Looks AMAZING.
Those seats look incredible
Not usually a Merc fan, but damn I love this car!

the amount of rubber chris harris has left on public roads throughout the world has to be measured in the tons. great episode as usual.
I LOVE THEM!! BETTER THAN BEFORE!!!
great vid Chris! :D
another great vid...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was the peak of CZcams
great video!
What a brilliant car and a really good review. :)
heavy but light. love that bit.
Chris Harris, living the dreams of many here.
He's probably not the best at it, but I'm not sure why I enjoy watching him drift all these cars week after week. Short video, but entertaining as always. Thanks Chris.
After this, whats left on the table for the next model, like the 911, how much more can they improve upon?
Mercedes SL63 Bi-Turbo AMG is very tail happy here with stability control minimized and very powerful...grandpa was crazy about having the first Mercedes in Vienna; his tail needed to hang out more.
i think it looks gorgeous!!!
saw this car in person passing past my school and i was like woooowww what is that. really amazing car.
Awesome video!!! Haha at 5:29 did that Nissan Z pull to the side or was he parked? Was this a closed course?
This looks awesome, and yeah like a lot of people already proven, much more beautiful than the previous year models :)
I know its slightly off topic, but what kind of microphone are you using? it sounds so clear based on the conditions you are using it in, thanks.
Hello Chris. Are U travelling to Nurburgring any time soon?
great review! wt was it about the wipers again? didn't get it;P
Can't wait to see the SL65.
yes ..you can open it just before you achieving the 60 km/h speed..just be stopped for safety and not get issues in the operation fast in the future
Chris please answer
would you take the carrera s cabiolet or the sl 63 amg ?
I drive there very often, great piece of ribbon.
Chris your videos are great but i have one comment about the audio. im not sure if its just my speaker setup but the audio with you talking in the car is much lower in volume than when you are narrating over the video. If you fixed this it would make it much easier to listen to. Thanks

Kings' Seats, look at them
This car is Amazing!!
if you look at it in Real Life its just plain perfection, saw one at the dealership the other day.
i wish you do a review on the sl65
This car looks amazing!!
Nice review.
As usual with a Chris Harris video, I watched it twice.

I'm curious to see how this stacks up against the new M6 coming out.
Is it sad that I think the way the wind deflector folds up is really cool and watched it back again?
Chris is the man!!! I want our job soooo bad
It would be interesting what Chris Harris prefers. SLS Roadster oder SL63 2012??
Never been an AMG fan but I really like this car! Couple of issues though. Why does it have electric steering? (like everything else these days) and why does it have an ECO mode on the dash when this is supposed to be driven hard? If you look at 5:56 there's the ECO mode I'm referring to
WE NEED MORE CHRIS HARRIS !!!!!!
Best Car with the best Test Driver, i love both !!!!!
beautiful car!
Just watched/enjoyed the vid, too bad I'll have to wait a week for the next one!
excellent!!!!
Very nice driving :)
It's time for MB to do an update of this car, improve the styling.
2015 will be the year the SL gets a refresh..
Wasn't a future proof design to begin with.
facelift is due 2019
I think it looks ok. The headlights killed the front styling though.
It would be interesting to see a series from Chris of possibly his "all time favorite cars" or "cars he has owned" or "Cars he grew up with."
Love the brand, love the interior, love the sound, love the engine, hate the new looks...especially the lights!
great vid as always chris but...if you were on your own...who did that tracking shot of you drifting round the bend??? Haha!! lol
Those seats look SOOOOO comfortable.
Can you put the the roof up/down while moving?
very nice
cant tell where chris´ thoughts about the styling come from, cause in person this just looks awesome..
Sehr talentierter fahrer
Totally agree. It does everything but it could look a bit better. The facelift version of the outgoing model (2008 - 2011 I think) was a better looking car to my eye. Not that this is ugly, it just doesn't blow my mind every time I look at it like the previous one.
