He has a uniquely '70s look with that brown and tan. :)
I love the Headmasters. In Japan, there is no Stylor, it's Chromedome all the way down. The little guy is Chromedome, and he plugs into a larger robot transector. That's way more sensible than two people in one head. I don't know what they were thinking in America.
They were thinking they could sell you two toys at the price of one: one Transformer and one minifigure.
Even in Japan they must've realized that the Targetmaster concept was a bit more palatable, since you can interpret it the same way as a tank crew; a driver (the robot) and the gunner (the partner).
The headmasters in the other hand are just...a fusion of the minds, somehow?
@@twistedgaming9185 You can still do that with them being the same guy.
Yeah, when they were reissued in Titans Return, I rewrote their bios. Chromedome is the only one who took the robots in disguise assignment seriously. A simple brown and beige sedan that can blend in to any freeway.
Chromedome is actually an intelligence asset. Infiltration, sabotage, assassination, extraction if you can name Chromedome has probably done it. His partner, Thal, was a happy go lucky kind of guy. But since bonding with Chromedome his head has been crammed with all kinds of information. It is often triggered by the Fight/Flight response. The adreneline kicks in and he remembers how to disarm a bomb or strip a firearm and reassemble it. Worst part is he can't or won't tell his fellow headmasters how he knows all this. Chromedome's oath of secrecy bleds over into Thal's mind. He can't tell anyone the truth.
Just a brief summary of how Chromedome changed for Titans' Return.
Currently watching the Headmasters anime and like it a lot. really cool how they integrated the head gimmick into the toy so that it shows his stats. I wish they would revisit headmasters in Legacy.
He just got a figure in titans return
I vaguely remember having Chromedome. I still do have Stylor though! I can’t wait to see you spiff this guy up with Toyhax decals!
It is an interesting vintage Transformers figure. And seeing this piece takes me back to my childhood when toys were all the rage. The transformation is simple but very interesting by transforming from car to robot.
Chromedome's cybertronian car mode is excellent. His robot mode is cool with the exception of his back.
Also great for fans of IDW’s More Than Meets the Eye where he played a big role. Him and Brainstorm are two G1 figures I’d snatch up in a heartbeat if I could find them for a decent price.
You'd need to find a aftermarket briefcase for Brainstorm though. Lol
@@valdore5939 I have one on my Titans Return figure. For G1, I’d leave him as is.
@@davewire87 for my G1, and after I started reading More than meets the eye. I just grabbed the briefcase from the old Playmates April O'Neil. It's blue, and grubby. But it sort of fits the G1 vibe lol
Man classic Chromosome was a fun time back then. Had him back in the day along with Hardhead and Highbrow. Yeah I never had a Brainstorm.
Great review
I think this one might be the best designed one for me. I'm not a huge fan of the headmaster, but I can appreciate this one a bit more. Great review as always, keeps me entertained the whole time!
I would love a version of all cybertronian vehicles in a earth disguise vehicle form!
Great review, and I look forward to seeing Chromedome restored with those Reprolabels. These toys are good products of their time. If these were reissued today, I'd snap them up.
Great review! I'm not a diehard g1 collector aside from what I already have, far too expensive a venture nowadays. But he looked like a great figure for back in the day!
Great review, man!! He's an awesome toy!! -Jason
Love this guy
The old headmasters had a flap to hide the robot face when it was the mini bot???? Man wish they did that in titans return
Another great review sir- thanks! So is ANY G1 (or other Tf line) a perfect toy?
Maybe. ;)
Funky but uncomplicated engineering
Since the little square on the arms is just a tiny tab, I wonder if you could just file those down to actually give them arm articulation without worrying their arms will snap off.
Filing down the tabs will deface the figure though .
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Who's gonna notice? Or care?
I sanded down some of the gold plastic on my G1 Skyhammer so you can actually put his guns in his hands and not have the handles snap off.
@@Takeshi357 I'll notice and care.
It doesn't matter since he's displayed in Robot Mode with the head attached.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews That's your loss
Why are his Autobot logo stickers on the BACK of his shoulders?
Vehicle Mode
Can you do a video on the g1 combiner predaking
That would be cool. Of course it depends on if he has the figures (or can get ahold of them).
