Where were you all the times I could have used one of these over the years? lol Not only for disposable use out in the woods. More permanent versions can come in handy in the backyard and at the fireplace in our den. "What's that doohickey?" "It's a dingle stick!" Thanks for sharing. Love DIY projects like this one.
Thanks Blackie, learned two things in this video - a cool makeshift camp tool and a generic slang term that covers a lot of items. That billy-pourer/dingle-stick/thingummy/wossname looks awesome ("billy" is the term we use for a pot that has a bail rather than a handle out the side) and does look like a far more stable way of pouring than the ways I've traditionally used: the stick at the bottom (as you demonstrated) or gripping the bail close to the lip of the billy and tilting it so that the water pours out around the other end of the bail (which is somewhat more stable than the stick-on-the-bottom method but still allows the billy to swing sideways and slop boiling water everywhere if your hand shakes.)
Ha I thought we was the only ones that used that term... one stick many uses, my wife would only say Camp stick lol... long live the good ole dingle stick!!! Great video blackie...
Well heck blacky thats just about as neet as store bought toilet paper LOL. All jokes aside just a mont ago myself and other family members all went to a local creek and did some fish gigging and cooked them as soon as they got killed. I didnt know what they was called but i made a few dingle sticks that night. Thanks for giving them a name the dingle stick. Take care blacky talk to ya soon.
Thanks Blacky, I wonder if a random stick modified to have multiple uses and then returned to nature got its name from Dingle in county Kerry in IRELAND?
Blackie, How do you keep your Opinal knife, to where you can open it in your humid climate ? I bought one and it is OK in the drier time of the year, but can't hardly, open it during the humid times.
disposable improvised neat gear -le, obviously. probably a term introduced by swabian settlers in the 1800s, the -le at the end suggests so. :D ATB Markus
do I wanna know what a dingle stick is? I think I already do... lol..... at least it isn't called a dingle berry stick. lol. ya ya I know. immature stupid joke, and 6years to late since the time u made this video... lol
