When Loki says "you might want to take the stairs to the left" he was not trying to lead the elves to his mother (who he actually cared about), he meant to the right where thors room would have been.
Yes, Loki says so himself later. And in the Loki series, when the TVA shows him the scene of Frigga's death, it breaks him.
I've always thought Frigga's funeral scene was amazingly beautiful and moving. So underappreciated.
Really underrated movie. Other than an underwritten villain, I've never had a problem with this film.

Totally agree I never personally had problems with this film. I always found it more than enjoyable enough to sit down and watch. I mean sure is it grade A perfect Marvel perfection no, but out of the original infinity saga I don't even think this is the worst movie.

Chris Evans doing an impression of Tom Hiddelson doing an impression of him, is dead accurate
The best part is how they made that scene. Tom Hiddleston wore the Captain America uniform and did the scene first, then Chris Evans watched that and based his performance on it.
Fun fact: the stand in for Jane at the end of the movie is Chris Hemsworth wife.
"Conflicted with Loki" is the MCU experience...
I have no idea why people dump on this one; it's probably my favorite of the Thor movies. It builds on the first one without retconning it, it's a showcase for Loki, you have tragedy (Frigga) and perhaps the best love story Marvel has done (with a happy ending, no less). The supporting cast is great, both in Asgard and on Earth. And "Why are there so many shoes here?"
Yes, Malekith lacks interior motivation beyond "I'm evil and I want revenge", but that just makes a nice contrast with the complex work on Loki.
A very underrated film, and a pleasure to watch it with you.

Fandril (one of Thor's friends) was recast for this film. Josh Dallas, who played Fandril in the first movie, had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts with the series "Once Upon a Time", and was replaced with Zachary Levi. Levi had actually been cast to play Fandril in the first movie, but had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts with the series "Chuck".
I love Loki's character design. "No one should trust him because he is only out for himself." 🐍GOD OF MISCHIEF🐍
Sometimes not even himself. He works against his own benefit almost as much as he does everyone else.
This comment played together with me when we were young it transformed into a snake because it knows that I love snakes so I went to pick up the snake to admire it then the comment was like “aah it’s me” and it stabbed me.
I tell you what, he may take a sec to grow on your, but Loki is one of the best characters to be bestowed upon us by the MCU! He's been one of my favorites since Thor 1, and you haven't seen the last of him!
Loki is considered a trickster god, known for being neither fully good nor evil since his main aim was always to create chaos.
With Loki it is easy, you cannot ever trust him, he is the master trickster. Does nto make him evil though, he still can do some good things when he pretends to be more evil than he actually is.
Deep down, Loki just wants to be the hero. Problem is, he is the brother of Thor and is cursed to forever exist in his shadow - Loki can never be the hero so long as Thor exists to upstage him at every turn.
This motivates everything Loki does. He can never be good enough with Thor constantly doing better, so he feels he must resort to trickery and manipulation to prove himself. Everything Loki did in the first film was designed to discredit Thor and elevate himself in the eyes of Odin. In Avengers, Loki seeks to rule Earth because he wants to prove to Odin he can rule, to prove that Odin was wrong to deny him that path. Loki is ultimately a mirror to Thor - Loki is also seeking to prove himself worthy.
i think Thor's hair and demeanor were cooler in this movie than the first one
Loki is always amazing. The next Thor movie is my personal favorite but I haven’t seen the newest one. Keep on enjoying!
Christopher Eccleston who played Malekith in Thor The Dark World who also played The Ninth Doctor in Doctor Who when series was revived in 2005

Addie... I am SO GLAD that you enjoyed this movie so much!!! In fact, this was one of the very few reaction videos which I felt I must share on my Facebook! So often this film seems to be dismissed among the MCU - but, beyond the one acknowledged and very obvious flaw - an underdeveloped villain - The Dark Age has so much going for it! Great humor; charismatic banter; a tearjerker moment turned on its head by the end; an incredibly creative climatic battle.... I will choose this movie before its predecessor, and laud it overall as another great MCU film!
Loki was a villain (antihero now) who can't be hated, he's my favorite in the entire UCM
Hey, Addie! This is my favorite Thor movie despite it not being well-regarded. It is also the final film to embrace the character's medieval fantasy roots. Even though Hemsworth's Thor is mined for some sensational comedy in future entries, I always preferred the pseudo-Shakespearean version from the first two films as that was more faithful to his comic book depiction. "The Dark World" feels both Tolkienian and space operatic with the vaulted palaces, stentorian declarations and eldritch sorcery of the former as well as the cloaked vessels, energy weapons and unstable wormholes of the latter. The plot flips the fish-out-of-water scenario of the first film by having Natalie Portman's Jane Foster travel to Asgard but then quickly escalates into having to avert a universal holocaust and to contend with a grievous personal loss. Thor is opposed by two classic villains from the comics: Kurse and the Dark Elf King Malekith.
It is profoundly appropriate for Alan Taylor to have helmed this installment as he is a veteran director of "Game of Thrones", a show known for castle sieges, royal intrigue and savage warfare! The ancient war with Svartalfheim led by Bor, Thor's grandfather, in the prologue is gloriously brutal while the invasion of and escape from Asgard are thrilling sequences! The chaotic world-hopping at the end is delightfully imaginative especially as Mjolnir tries to keep track of its master. I especially like how Asgardian tech like the design of their skiffs provided the template for the Norse longboat when humans came into contact with these aliens. The most remarkable technology belongs to the Dark Elves, though, who have harnessed the power of miniature black holes to function as singularity drives that propel their Harrow ships and as IMPLOSION grenades that devastatingly compact everything in their blast radius to a microscopic point!
The cast is top-notch yet again. A magnificently chiseled Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor Odinson aka Thor to portray a conflicted prince torn between two worlds. Tom Hiddleston brings incredible nuance and duplicity to Loki Laufeyson aka Loki, now a captive after his "Avengers" exploits. Anthony Hopkins, gruff and regal as ever, returns as Odin. Rene Russo's Frigga is given more of a showcase and her compelling death pays dividends down the line. The Warriors Three are also on hand with Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun and Zachary Levi replacing Josh Dallas as Fandral. The gorgeous Jaimie Alexander returns as Lady Sif to provide some romantic tension before leaving the role behind. Although she reprised the part for two episodes of "Agents of SHIELD", an episode of "Loki" and a "Thor: Love and Thunder" cameo, her starring role in TV's "Blindspot" prevented her character from completing a satisfying arc and she remains one of the MCU's criminally underused opportunities like Tim Blake Nelson's Samuel Sterns from "The Incredible Hulk". Idris Elba lends his gravitas and sonorous voice to Heimdall again. Natalie Portman meets the parents as Dr. Jane Foster with Stellan Skarsgard as an addled Dr. Eric Selvig and Kat Dennings as snarky Darcy Lewis returning as well. Darcy has her own intern this time in the form of Jonathan Howard's Ian Boothby and Chris O'Dowd's sad sack Richard has the impossible task of being Jane's rebound guy! Although underwritten, Christopher Eccleston is appropriately cold and ruthless as Malekith. In the comics, he is gleefully vicious but lacks that dark joy on screen. Although it's colored purple-and-black in the comics, the villain's dichromatic face is represented after the right side of his white visage gets scorched black by lightning. Adewale is impressive as the hulking, indomitable Kurse. Tony Curran, in heavy wig and armor, portrays Grandpappy Bor in flashback, Clive Russell of "Game of Thrones" plays Einherjar Commander Tyr and the great Alice Krige has a bit part as Eir, an Asgardian physician. Taneleer Tivan, the Collector, played by Benicio del Toro, is introduced as is his servant Carina played by Ophelia Lovibond. Royce Pierreson of "The Witcher" appears briefly as a Greenwich student. Lastly, there's a fun cameo by Chris Evans as Captain America.
TRIVIA:
1. The Svartalfheim sequences were shot in Iceland to provide a black basaltic soil landscape for the Dark Elves' homeworld.
2. Jaimie Alexander slipped on some steps on set dislocating a shoulder, tearing a muscle, slipping a disc and chipping eleven vertebrae!
3. Natalie Portman was unavailable for the end-credit scene so the woman who races to greet Thor is Hemsworth's actual wife, Elsa Pataky!
EASTER EGGS:
1. Selvig's diagram for his sanitarium lecture features the numerical designation for the Marvel Comics universe, 616, as well as several dimensional junctures such as The Nexus, The Crossroads and The Fault!
2. The rock alien Thor fights on Vanaheim is the first appearance of the Kronan species in the saga which also debuted in Thor's first issue, "Journey into Mystery" # 83!
3. Although in a fluidic state, the Aether is identified as an Infinity Stone making it the third one encountered in the saga!
CAMEO:
1. Stan Lee appears as a patient in the sanitarium who asks Selvig to return his shoe after the addled astrophysicist used it as a visual aid for his lecture!
END-CREDIT SCENES:
1. Volstagg and Sif deliver the Aether to The Collector for safekeeping in his Collection since the Tesseract is already housed in Odin's vault and two Infinity Stones so near one another is a dangerous prospect. The Collector accepts and, after the Asgardians depart, reveals that there are six in total which he has designs of acquiring!
2. Jane, in the company of Selvig, Darcy and Ian, is shaken out of her funk when Thor returns and she races to her apartment balcony to greet him with a kiss!
3. Meanwhile, the Frost Beast from Jotunheim, stranded in London after the Convergence, is seen chasing a flock of birds at the site of the anomaly!
The next chronological stop in the MCU are episodes 8-16 of Season 1 of "Agents of SHIELD".
Frigga's funeral is beautifully done and one of the scenes I remembered most from first watching this.
Even though the full family dynamic wasn't given a lot of screen time I always took it that Loki was closest to their mother. Aside from the effects her death had on him in general I find it even more tragic that he wasn't allowed to attend her funeral. He wasn't even told what had happened through a family member, just a guard.
Their mother specifically didn't have that much screen time but she clearly had a special relationship with Loki. It seems implied here and later confirmed that she taught him his magic even. I really wish we got to see more of it in general.
Easily the most underrated MCU film. Always found The Dark World to be a massive improvement over the first Thor.

According to the director commentary, Loki _was_ indeed stabbed on the dark elves world and badly injured... he lost consciousness and Thor thought he'd died (can't have been an illusion, because Thor touched him), but due to his regenerative abilities -- like Thor, as a half-Aesir/half-Jotun Loki can recover from any non-fatal injury, although they can lose eyes or limbs permanently -- he managed to survive and used his special knowledge of portals to cross back to Asgard.
The scene with Loki and Frigga is interesting because at the end we learn that she isn't really there, she is one of his illusions. So all the things she says to him, the words are coming from _him himself._ It's a very strange way for him to be working through his issues.
When Jane and Thor reunite with that very passionate kiss in the post credit scenes, it's because it was very real. Natalie Portman had a scheduling conflict and couldn't come back for that reshoot. So they put Jane's clothes and a brunette wig on to Elsa Pataki, aka Chris Hemsworth's wife. Also, there is an excellent comedy I think you would enjoy from the 1960's. It was written and directed by the late Blake Edwards. It is called "The Great Race". It's long, but also the walking definition of slapstick comedy. The perfect weekend movie. You will be quoting it for the rest of your mortal life.

The scene with Captain America is great, they dressed Tom Hiddleston up as Cap and him and Chris Hemsworth did the scene, then Chris Evans watched that and based his performance on Tom Hiddleston as Loki playing Cap. And at the end of the scene when Loki asks for a weapon and Thor reacts by putting him in handcuffs is great too! 🤣

The movie's original director was Patty Jenkins, who planned sort of a "Romeo and Juliet" story, where Thor and Jane were forbidden to see each other. She and Marvel parted ways over "creative differences" (which apparently didn't make Natalie Portman very happy), but things worked out for Jenkins, as she went on to direct "Wonder Woman".
Why does this useless information even matter? No one cares about: woulda, coulda, shoulda's!

@@NiclasLoof WW84 was released in the midst of the pandemic, when theatres in some major cities (like mine) weren't even open. It probably would've been better to hold off releasing it until 2021.
I'd say the first one did have cultural impact, in that it finally broke the stereotype of female-led superhero films doing poorly. I wouldn't say it's been forgotten, but it's been 5 years since it came out, and a lot has happened since then.
As for Jenkins herself, she's already working on a third film, as well as producing a possible spin-off film about the Amazons.

I *really* wish we had spent more time on Asgard in the MCU tbh. I loved seeing how advanced the Asgardians were, especially considering their Medieval/ Viking appearance & use of melee weapons - Asgard could've been even more impressive than Wakanda if done right.
We saw some cool/ fascinating technology on Asgard, i.e.:
- cannons/ turrets defending the city 12:40
- shield/ force field protecting the Royal Palace 12:46
- Items/ Relics in Odin's Vault
- Skiffs/ hovercraft warships 19:23
- collars & cuffs used on Loki (& Lorelei in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)
- Soul Forge/ Quantum Field Generator 8:19
- force field prison cells 10:43
- Bifrost
- Destroyer armour, etc, but I would've loved to hv seen even more like it tbh.

Loki still has a long character arc ahead of him.
There are many structural elements in this movie I just don't like, but in many ways it establishes much of the foundation of future movies.

I always love Loki, regardless of what fictional universe is using him/her. And Thor... took Thor 3 to make him my favorite... you will see why :)
One of the things that bugged me about this movie is they spent such a long time building up to Thor and Loki having a plan they are going to work together. Then the plan kicks in when Thor yells "Loki, now!" and 15 seconds to see what their clever plan is. Then 35 seconds to see that it totally failed.
Since Heimdall was already committing treason anyway, he might have well just opened the bifrost for Thor and Jane and let us just skip the entire Loki sub-plot.
Except Loki is always fun. Yeah, there is that.

The Alfar are a part of Norse myth, nature spirits that lived on the world of Alfheim, with Freyr as their patron god. This word eventually made its way into German and English as Elf :P
The Svartalfar (swarthy, or dark elves) lived on Svartalfheim, although in the Eddas they appear to be synonymous with Dvergr (dwarves) as they are mentioned together when the Aesir go to find a crafter for the fetters that hold Fenrir. Svartalfheim is likely also synonymous for Nidavellir, the home of the Dvergr.
Marvel decided to separate these two peoples and places into their own distinct civilizations instead.
Fun Fact: The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World have the shortest run time out of all MCU Movies.
I wish Lady Sif & the Warriors Three could've had a larger part in the MCU tbh (at least w/in the Thor films).

I was disappointed we didn't get to see the amazing potential & visuals of the Reality Stone that I loved from Infinity War tbh. I guess it's kinda good since it meant the reveal in Infinity War was more impressive (bcos we didn't know what to expect), but I also love the Reality Stone & would've loved to see as much of its power in the MCU films as possible lol.

I feel like this film just flipped Odin & Thor's personalities from the first film tbh. I loved Thor in this, but I wish they hadn't undone Odin's wisdom from the first film just to built Thor up.

While this is far from best Marvel films (still not worst and I do enjoy this film), this film does have some really good moments. The funeral scene is amazing and Loki pretty much stole every scene he was in. the "Ta-daa" scene makes me always laugh. So brief but there's something.

Addie, i like this movie, it was a mix of swords and sorcery and sci fi, the last movie to mix those was both Masters of the Universe (1987) and a little movie from 1977 called Star Wars
You can always trust Loki to do what's best for Loki. Whether it's helping his friends or hindering them, so long as you remember that he's looking out for #1, you'll understand his character's motivations.
Also, the man the Warriors Three give the Aether to is one of the Elders of the Universe: Taneleer Tivan, aka The Collector. The Elders are a group of immensely powerful beings who also each happen to be the last survivors of extinct races, and each has their own little quirk that gives them their identity. The Collector.... collects things, all things, interesting and unique things. The Grandmaster is the patron of the Contest of Champions to decide who is the most powerful fighter. The Obliterator pursues and eradicates sentient life as a sport, and became an Elder after he systematically murdered the rest of his species. The Explorer travels the Universe seeking new and undiscovered places and events.
You really can't even trust that, much of what Loki does is self-destructive.

I´m glad you liked this movie. This is the most hated MCU movie, but I really like it and (unpopular opinion) I think it´s the best of the (now four) Thor movies. People tend to forget that this is the movie that made Loki a fan-favorite.

The utter confusion in your eyes and voice will keep me grinning for a while.
Nobody knows how anybody feels about Loki, that's the point of the character.
Thor, Spidey, and Hulk are my faves. I love the first three Thor movies and never understood why people hated this one so much. So much happened and it set up what came next for the MCU. I'm not happy with where they've taken his story since Ragnorok. They took all of his nobility away and that's part of what makes him unique from the more grounded heroes.
Did you know The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World have the shortest run time out of all MCU Movies?

That is exactly the natural reaction to his character :)
This film isn't the greatest but I feel like the most glaring issue is the tone shift from the first film. The Thor films are so inconsistent in that way that it kind of makes them the weakest branch of the MCU. Compared to the first film this one went in a very different direction and the third film went in the opposite direction. They're all decent in their own right they just don't gel as an arc compared to the Iron Man films, the Captain America films, Guardians, etc., etc..
This movie gave me Animatrix vibes.
