Russ in a starting position would have been a different russ. Something seemed off with him after the first game of the series.

When he was by himself he triple doubled, he needs to be trusted. He’s not his old self but he can still play and be effective in other ways. Harden likes to score not pass. Russ passes. Harden shooting is way better. He should’ve let him start.
Westbrick definitely was the x factor in this series.. But for the mavs.. Whenever he was on the floor mavs played 5 v 4 on defence letting westbrick throw up his bricks as much as he wanted.
Not a bad take, but Ty Lue played Russ at corner 3 and off the ball most of the time and I dont know why the hell he did it, multiple times in regular season we saw Harden and Russ aint good fit together, but we saw in thsi series they played together alot, very bad usage, also Russ declined extremly this playoffs, very sad to see as fan from okc days.

The X factor period for the post season is harden. The clipper were a good team but kawhi and pg where not playing very good on offense until they got harden. When harden is hitting his threes to keep the defense honest which opens up his passing and iso, when he he gets paint touches and his hitting step back threes the clippers are January clippers.

It’s a stupid plan anyway. Russ is not a shooter never has been but he can do it ok once in a while. He’s a fast break guy, slashing to the rim crazy vision to open players, making hustle plays catching rebounds. That’s what he does not spot up shoot. I don’t understand man.

I think Kawhi guards Luka in clutch time but for most of the game you put other lengthy forwards on Luka like PJ Tucker, Daniel Thies and Paul George
Terance Mann and Amir Coffey can guard Kyrie but I do think Westbrook on Kye is intriguing

Noone can stop kyrie although russ's defence isnt smthing to joke abt he has been getting between sets and breaking teams offence by getting sneaky steals and deflections. He can make scoring harder for kyrie and and make kyrie play off ball.
We seen Russ guard KD last year there is no reason he shouldn’t be able to guard Kyrie

Let me ask u this. What do they do wit harden in. Harden takes up 15-18 second of the shot clock and force his teammates to take long shots wit no time to work. It's about winning. Not who u want to play.

harden wastes time on the shotclock and we know he chokes in the playoffs, even if russ is having a bad offencive night u can see he still excels in every other statsical category like in the 2023 playoffs.

As a clips fan, I'm alright with that. But Russ provides the spark for our second team. Keeps the pace fast.
As a Clippers fan, I definitely agree with 9ne caveat. Ty Lue is gonna need to coach based off feel and not stick to a game plan. Westbrook can cause havoc in a good way, but at times, it can get out of hand. Terrance Mann and PG also being in this team also helps dramatically. The best situation is if Kawhi, PG, and Harden have less defensive responsibility and Mann and Westbrook do their thing. Ofc all of them can't be on the court at the same time, hence Lue needing to manage off of feel.
Draymond knows more about defense than all of us combined, especially when you consider the fact he was the best defensive player in basketball for a handful of years, but I still don't understand why Russ needs to start for this plan to work. I can easily see PG guarding either of Kyrie or Luka while Kawhi guards the other. The second one of those two start to heat up then switch it up by subbing Russ in. I guess you could say starting Russ to set the tone would help the Clippers, but there's no way to completely shut down Luka AND Kyrie, especially at the same time.
Props to Russ though; For most of his career Russ was considered a terrible defensive player, when in reality he just couldn't put the right amount of effort on that end of the floor since he was using all his energy offensively. Dude was drafted as an athletic defensive guard, which people tend to forget about, but I always knew Russ was AT LEAST better than average defensively. He proved this year that, if needed, he could've been an all-defense type player. Draymond acknowledging Russ as a defensive threat against Kyrie proves this.

You are so correct, average fans don’t get how much was asked of Russ from OKC days . You clearly see when he doesn’t have to do everything how dominant he can be on defense as well. I’ve always said Russ got used way too much . He’s was top in usage rate most of his career.
Russ was very good defensively his first 4-5 years in the league. He was average any other time. And the past 3 seasons hes been damn good again

They’re gonna get a switch everytime and then harden he isn’t gonna be a big help either he’s only good at playmaking best bet is to run a zone 3-2 keep Kyrie and Luka close to eachother and switch off on the open man in the perimeter
