Interesting facts about that mcr record, Geoff from Thursday helped produce it and the video was based on a Japanese horror movie called audition. When I went to their reunion show in nyc they whipped out this is the best day ever and vampires will never hurt you, crowd went nuts. It’s not their best record but it’ll always have a special place in my heart

MCR's debut album remains, to this day, my favorite album of all time. I actually rank their albums best to worst in the order that they came out. The pure, raw emotion and angst in that album is unlike anything else they released after that. Perfect album front to back.

Dillinger was fucking wild back in the day. They definitely popularized the "swing guitars around like weapons" thing. They especially loved small venues. I once saw them at the First Unitarian Church in Philly, and the second guitarist (not Ben) jumped off the stage, plowed through the crowd, jumped up on a merch table in the back, and started thrashing around at people who thought they were safe in the back. I've seen them a bunch of times over the years with different lineups and they're never not good.

Bullets is my favorite MCR album and one of my favorite albums of all time. Had their most relatable and emotional lyrics, and probably most interesting songs musically. The band kinda abandoned the album outside of one or two songs once they got to the Black Parade tour, but they played half the album when I saw them on their recent reunion tour and I died happy. Also the music video is just taken from a Japanese horror movie. It was very typical of early 2000s emo bands to copy movies for their music videos

Hey Finn! Here some thoughts and facts on the foo fighters stuff:
    1. I think Dave grohl came up with the riff for scentless apprentice, I’m unsure if it was heart shaped box.
    2. The debut album was actually the first full album I’ve ever listened to….somehow when I was 19…do NOT ask what I was listening to before then (even if it was partially big hits from the FF’s). Anyways, the debut album is still pretty good. However it does have a kind of inconsistent second half and I’ve never liked Big me. Still good, but ur right the color and the shape is their best.
    3. My favorite foo fighters song is Stacked Actors :D
    4. Kurt cobain actually heard Alone+Easy Target and Exhausted and he liked them but wanted to change the lyrics and maybe something else

So for the MCR question, I know Frank, the guitarist has known his wife since he was a teenager. So that's a likely candidate. There's also Mikey, the bassist who's girlfriend from around then would promote the band. Or it could be their first drummer, Otter. Real name Matt. Who I know very little of, and neither does anyone else because he wasn't in the band very long.

As someone has mentioned, Marigold (originally Color Pictures of a Marigold) was the B side to Heart Shaped Box, but Dave did also write the song Friend of a Friend in 1990 (and recorded in secret the same year), and was about his first impressions of Kurt and Krist, though it wasnt realeased as a Nirvana song. He wrote it in Kurt's apartment with an acoustic owned by Kurt and the song was released in '92 on the Pocketwatch Ep under the pseudonym 'Late!'
My favorite Foos album is No 3, There is Nothing Left to lose, but those first 3 albums are all classics, they've never topped them, but they are a brilliant live band and for all intents and purposes are still.my favorite band, Daves sucha sweetheart and the fact he recorded (nearly) all of the first album on his own still amazes me and just shows what a talent he is, even if you don't like the Foos.

The only time I saw MCR was when they were opening for Reggie and the Full Effect while touring off Bullets and I wasn't super impressed; it took a lot of recommendations for Three Cheers before I gave it a chance and finally got into them. The biggest standout of their set from that show was how miserably sweaty Gerard looked in his leather jacket the entire time.
On the Foo Fighters front, though I really like several songs off of Colour and a few later ones here and there, the only actual album I truly (still) enjoy and will actively listen to of theirs is their debut because it retained that raw grungy alt edge of the time; after Colour, they went more straight rock, which never appealed to me the same way--too "safe."

Shat reminds me of a band I saw at Freak’n Pizza in Columbus, Ohio around 1993 or so. All their songs were about poop and they had CRT monitors on stage showing scat porn. The music was surprisingly good.

I’ve been a DEP fanboy their entire career, and it’s almost exclusively because of Calculating Infinity. The rest of their discography is good but CI is so fucking elite that even if CI was it, I’d be the same level of fandom. Also, Ben told me my chops were “fucking sick!” when I opened up for them in Japan 😂

The EP that Bring Me the Horizon brought out before count your blessings was definitely weird, but I still frothed it. Count your blessings still goes hard IMO.

That's kinda my issue with the Foo Fighters, I can't even tell apart the difference between their 1995 stuff and their most recent stuff.
