It's sad when I just discovered a band and then the comments section is full of RIP to the main musician in the group who was weaving these tunes. But hey, such is life, as they say in France.
I just (finally) got into Asylum Party about two weeks ago, after sitting on Borderline for what seems like about 9-12 months (oddly-enough). I'm loving it. Mere is next. I did not know a primary songwriter passed within that same span of time that I became aware of them.
Who passed away was the bassist and co-vocalist.
singer bassist are the best
Im 27 years of age and finally realing im really fukn goth took a d3ad pictrue of a bird put it as my lockscreen👌🥹 plus i love black roses and black heart emoji 🖤

Same here. Almost 63 and just discovering a band from my heyday. Their sound seems very influential in a lot of the new Darkwave bands currently making their mark. What goes around comes around.

If you like Asylum Party, you can also listen to Little Nemo, Babel 17, Mary Goes Round, Norma Loy or Trisomie 21, another great French coldwave bands from the late 80s.
❇️💵🕯️🎒👑🧢
Don't forget club de Rome
Easily one of the most sadly overlooked post punk/new wave bands of the 1980s.😢
Very Underrated Band
I love this genre for the bass lines. Bass guitar is severely missed in the music of today

I dream of you could come over and get there at that time of year and wish our best wishes to you my mtv 🪦🚬🪦

RIP Thierry Sobezyk, your bass lines were what made me fall in love with this band
I say the same
Same.. and the guitars too..
Seriously, some of the most memorable bass riffs ever to pop into this genre. I will practice death metal all day, just to get distracted by jamming out to La Tourmente or Un Sang D'Hier. They are complementary basslines to dark music and incredibly lyrical in their own right.
BAAAAAAASS
@@newfleshrecords Very similar to Simon Gallup's during the early stages of The Cure, imo.
Don't remember why, but I've cried to Play Alone before... just a distant memory now.
Thank u for sharing ❤️ I love the human experience
"Play Alone" transports me to heavenly places created by my mind. Thanks!
created by your mind or the music ? 🤔

"No regrets, no sad songs, every day pure joy in my heart" - RIP Thierry Sobezyk
How can a band be so perfect
This album alone is proof enough of how great he was.
Rest in Peace Thierry, you were an amazing musician and I hope you knew that.
You might also like the 80's Scottish band Lowlife. They're wonderfully dark, nostalgiac, and right up there with Asylum Party. imho. and like AP, Lowlife had a short career, a badass demo album, an incredible bassist, and lived on to exist solely on a cult following, kinda like how the ancient Gods could only exist if they were worshipped.
Great band Lowlife
Cheers mate
I Remember a song from Lowlife caled A Sullen Sky. Was a piece of art.
Lowlife's Rain EP and first three records are insanely good. Haven't checked out the final 2 yet though. Will Heggie is such an insane bass player, and Craig Lorentson (RIP) has gotta be my favorite singer in the genre - haunting vocals.
best coldwave album ever
La Muy buena Música es como el vino, cuando mas añejado esté, sabe mucho mejor. Los años 80 Musicalmente lo mejor en muchos estilos y este es un buen ejemplo del Dark Rock de esa década de los 80.
God, I wish this was on spotify
Rest In Peace Thierry Sobezyk :((

First Days of Winter....hits the heart
One of most important post punk bands of all time.
masterpiece
The dark elegance of the Sabbath
Found this band because of an interview with the lead singer of "She Past Away " and this rated as one of the top favourite french bands . Good music
"Play Alone" is THE best track of this band !!!
JULIA is the best
that bass line at the end is....pure...magic.
May have to agree. Very definitive of their sound
@Little Leaf lmao . "I'm I'm ih ng alone with my poisoned dreams " or someshit. But ur version is more relatable
no La Tourmente is the best for me ^^
Gut, düster, dunkel, sowie das ganze Leben!
Thanks to the internet that allows us to find these jewels, thanks to my internet
browsing I have found great bands like Motorama, Human Tetris, Manicure,
Folder, Blume, Soviet Soviet, She Past Away, etc. etc.
Yes I'm thankful I'm still only 32. I experienced the wonderful amiga 500 era of the early to mid 90's, and the internet age.
I discovered many hundreds (maybe almost 1000 already) of good or amazing albums thanks to the internet. without it it would be impossible with many of the albums to find them.
Check out the chameleons also
@ya skirt. black marble, that summer, pink turns blue, lebanon hanover, brandenburg, Lowtide, The sound, Belgrado...

Time? Like everyone else👍😃
If you're really heavily into a style, go off and discover plenty more in-depth, then return to it with the new and expanding knowledge of listening to music, you find all new levels and layers of appreciation for it... plus the many new albums in that time apart from it to dig deep amongst, so it helps refresh the love for it as well.
wonderfull
One of the best albums ever.
Top 10 albums of all time ( FOR ME )
Definitely a desert island pick.
This came out when I was born a brilliant year for Goth music.
This album is epic and in lists of top Goth albums I don't know why this one is always overlooked. Very underrated band. Love them.
Technically it falls under the category of Cold Wave and at times Dark Wave, but I feel you. For me, this band definitely falls under the rubric of Goth.
@Lunatic4Bizcas Those fall under the goth umbrella
@@sylph8005 : I agree.
@@Lunatic4Bizcas Were those terms around when this record was made?
@@ChristieBrewster Yes, considering the first albums of the genre appeared in 1978 ( Siouxsie and the Banshees ) and 1980 ( Bauhaus ).
I always love being introduced to these great obscure bands! This showed up on my lists of suggestions while I was listening to one of The Chameleons’ albums on here...
Script of the Bridge is excellent! If you haven't heard Sleep No More by The Comsat Angels, you will like it. It has a similar dark, melancholy beauty.
oh my god same!
your journey has just begun. Embrace the journey x
I love The Chameleons. I saw them live this past summer. I had a great conversation about life and death with Mark Burgess, the lead singer. Got my picture taken with him and his autograph. Amazing guy.
The Chameleon's UK right?!
Never get tired of this album🖤
Me too, especially "Play Alone"
I discovered this band today, on the anniversary of Thierry's death actually, and they're already so high on my list of favorite bands. May he rest in peace
Thierry! Lost souls are free now! Thank you for the music.

The Hungry Punky I’m sure he would’ve :( Rip Thierry 😞
So pure, I feel freedom hearing this...
One of France's worth knowing post punk pepits...
I've seen them twice. Their sound was awsome and their music has something the Cocteau Twins had, listening to it you are just like you were surfing mentaly.
top album of my 41 years alive. discovered it 8 years ago and it still feels like it's brand new, even though I listen to it at least monthly.
40 here
Weird being the older ones now
i just discovered this and I'm stunned (and exhausted thinking) how much great music there is out there. I'll endeavor to keep this one. It's a sound I grew up with.
Yes, and people listening reggaeton and trap.
This is an amazing album, can't believe I never heard it before.
Walid WolfLust felt the same way when i first heard it. Found out through that website Rate Your Music.
Thank you, youtube.
Can’t find it on Spotify.
@@ianlangille558 I can't stand rateyourmusic. Whenever I seatch an album with google I see the rating from rateyourmusic. Most albums I saw so far only have 3-3,5 stars same with this album, and I searched many hundreds of albums so far. There seem to be too many music haters on that site. Sputnikmusic for example usually has much higher album ratings (even if that site also is far from perfect). Many albums have a rating of 4 or higher on sputnik while on RYM usually only 3.5. Why is it that way?
@@TheArrow1987 I agree. Rateyourmusic seems to be a place where people downgrade music they don't like, rather than rate albums accordingly. It's stupid. There are better sites out there for people looking to discover good albums, where their ratings are based on the qualities of an album within the discography of a particular artist. Sputnikmusic and Allmusic are good examples.
I can listen to this Album on repeat and wont get bored of it what a Masterpiece.
The best of post punk. They captured the essence of it.
Super underrated band ..Julia is still a piece of darkwave art
This is the best album of all time for me.

The "French Touch" starts here, magic bass lines, pure and sofisticated
Asylum Party's The Sabbath remembers Perturbator's Lustful Sacraments. Could be that the last was inspired by the first.
Oh wow, this is a very rare treasure chest of a find for me 😍 Nostalgic dreamy rifts that somehow seem to evoke every fragile almost forgotten memory... they have the same gift The Chameleons have, they can pull every millimeter of feeling from you....pour it into a magic crystal and make it all spin in front of your eyes.... genius.
...and I can hear a lot of Paul Banks' influences in here, more so than in Joy Division because Asylum seem to have that tiny, very subtle nugget of fragility buried within the tracks that gently nudges you in a very eerie way...that's rare and intoxicating (a stronger version would be Memoryhouse, which brings the full nostalgia to the fore leaving the edgier pieces behind)
Seagreentangerine Well said
Seagreentangerine I love the way you talk about this. I really couldn't agree more. I'm about to check out Memoryhouse on your recommendation ✌️
Lol. Marry me.
I hear a bit of New Order in it as well.
This album helps me to escape from my problems in life and helps me to when I make some assignments and activities in school.

its the best album from Asylum Party!. It stands up with the best of that era! very enjoyable album.

RIP: Thierry Sobezyk. Love this band sound and style, they have bits of everything I love live a bass like Joy Division & New Order, keyboard atmospheres in the style of Clan Of Xymox, guitar tones like Cocteau Twins, and a little bit of late 80's Wolfgang Press.

Wonderful music somebody on a Facebook group posted their last album after he was listening to the chameleons for the first time he started listening to these guys for the first time I'm very glad I put it on my CZcams playlist very good stuff I would really like to have this stuff on vinyl
I love this album.
I have to admit I wasn't aware of this at the time, so actually thankful to CZcams for directing me this way. I would have loved it if I heard it at the time for sure; this is exactly when I was finding more things like Sisters, Bauhaus, Joy Division, plus Ride, Slowdive and the like, and really getting a bigger appreciation for these kind of styles, so this would have fit in perfectly as a bit of a blend between all of it. Thank you In Depth Music for this one.
The outro to Pictures is quite something
This is a great mix. A nice mix of goth and dance music.
I love this band. Everything they do is good.
This dug into my soul.
A classic

That's 😢 story bro
I love songs 2 and 3. Love the drum machine and keyboards makes it sound a little bit more cold and epic.
When I was 14/15 and used to go visit a friend theyd have ' Julia' on whenever I was there....I remembered that song name of course but always forgot the band name but 'Julia always stayed with me right up until i found it again 😀
