Hi, I’m 61 and I love this stuff..... or am I just going mad?
Lol definitely not going mad. This music was popular when you would have been in your 30’s so I can see why. I think when I’m 61 I’ll still like the stuff I like now at 33.
You have a good music taste
you must be a cool dad or uncle or whatever... :)
Aren't we all going mad?
There is no age limit to good taste and aesthetic pleasure .Music is ageless and timeless , it does not come with an sell by date for when you are or are not allowed to listen to it :-) ....
this music comforts me in such a specific way that nothing else will give me the same feeling
I feel the same.😮😢😅😂

When I was a kid a found this kind of music weird but now as a young adult I can't stop listening to it and found a great appreciation for this kind of music. Crazy how our perspective changes.
Right? Our tastes really change every once in a while. I haven't listened to rock music since I was 13 years old - now I'm *doing* second-wave goth rock music!

thank you for sharing this excellent compilation!😎👍
"Underground" had a very different meaning in the '80s. Now, everything is just a simple Google search away. The youth of today will never understand the struggle. Excellent playlist!
I wish I were able to time travel to back then, it'd be far more rewarding to find stuff like this.
Oi,

Eu achei JOY DIVISION e THE SMITHS assim como vc falou, GARIMPANDO em 1983.

The underground still exists in places. I know plenty of people who just make their own cd's, tapes or straight up won't share their music and only play it live. The bootleggers have to actually try at that point much like the days of yore.
@@gengraded very cool.

When I was young, my girlfriend used to walk in the rain every chance she had. Always came home completely drenched. The only problem was that she did not like my music 🤷

I'm 44 years old, I'm Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro and I've never been gothic or wear black, but I love these songs because they make me travel so easily. I am passionate about aviation and darkwave. I love being near planes, reading books or playing in flight simulators listening to these songs. I also make miniature airplanes out of wood and it's really exciting to be in my silence doing what I like listening to sounds of this kind.

Gods! I recall the time when "i made you a tape" was one of the most potent phrases one could hear from anyone in this corner of the scene.
i made you a tape actually meant : i want to show you that you mean a lot to me
THAT was LOVE!!! I WISH I still had mine, both the ones I made & received! They were often totally works of ART🤗💜🖤💫
I would love to have this on an actual cassette
Play this through an amp or through your phone just not on full blast unless you want extra gain and hit the record button on a cassette recorder though it may sound like it has slight lo-fi effect, or download this mix through a website like mp3 juices and buy a mp3 to cassette/cassette to mp3 converter for a more unaltered sound.

Just turned 42, I was so lost in my depression that no music sounded good, then, along came darkwave! A perfect accompaniment to a self reflective evening after too much cake. Blessings and thanks
I couldn’t sleep, it’s 3:30 in the morning and CZcams recommends this to me, not disappointed one bit
So much to love in this selection - She Past Away, The KVB, Molly Nilsson, Lebanon Hanover, Molchat Doma. On their own they'd form a solid list, but the other bands/artistes are great as well.
Absolutely tickled that She Past Away made this mixtape. Thank you.
On an unrelated note, I will always miss audio cassettes. They were cool little machines, and some companies put out some very nice looking ones. I still have a few, just because I think they are great examples of beautiful industrial design. Especially since their video analogue, the VHS cassette, where completely uniform and pretty ugly.
If you dig around a little, there's a lot of independent distributors that are keeping the format alive and healthy. The 'extreme metal' scene is thriving with vinyl and cassette sales, it's almost nonsensical to not release on those formats! :)
And, the tape trading scene is still around - you just gotta know where to look!
I made a lot of mix tapes for the car. Different genres... different moods.
Yeah the VHS tapes were ugly, but I got into tapes in the mid seventies after my mom bought me a tape recorder. My friends & I used it to make radio plays on them, complete with crude sound effects! I still use tapes to listen to the great music different artists made during the 80s and 90s and I also listen to the great mix-tapes I made on my own way back. gotta love the fact that sound quality is often better than CDs especially in the mid to low bass frequencies that STILL sound better with recorded music from records & Cds than do the original formats! Cheers!
I really loved the album slip for insomniac by green day
When my parents listened to progressive rock like early Genesis, Cream, Floyd, King Crimson, and early ELP, they were drugged out of their minds. I wasn't. So when I heard their influences in my darkwave, goth, and even synthwave music, I was hooked because the music was the drug.
Yes
Thank you for the mixtape - it always feels good to discover new music.
