I have always loved Dame Maggie Smith, but only realized recently that Toby is as talented as his mum. He is incredible as his mother. Wonderful to know that talent goes on in the family. He was superb in Jane Eyre.
I can't stop myself from imagining Maggie Smith coming on the set of black sails like "Toby ! You forgot your sunscreen again!" And Toby being "moooom! I'm supposed to be a feasrome piraaaaate"
He looks just like his mom, and what I love about this is he is his own man, acting talent runs in the family because Dame Smith is A list all the time, and Toby is as fabulous as mom, he rocked that Mr. Rochester character, the best of them all, I hope he won a Bafta for that role, he and his leading lady, they were superb.
This video should be updated to include his role as John Robinson in the Netflix reboot of Lost in Space. Since I hadn't seen his Jane Eyre, my first experience of him was as this rough and ready American ex Navy Seal turned spaceman trying to keep his family together as they careen around the galaxy. Image my gobsmacking when I troll around here and find out he's Maggie Smith's son!

He is so like his Mother Dame Maggie Smith in his looks; and had a very handsome father also.. I did not realize who he was when he played the villain in James Bond Die Another Day....but a diverse career . Clearly the acting gene is strong! ...also I did not realize who Chris Larkin was when I enjoyed his performance in "Master & commander,Far Side of the World".

@Babsan11 No, they have not; his older brother Chris has (in the film "Tea with Mussolini" and on stage in "The Lady from Dubuque"), but Toby felt shy about it when he was young, realizing what a great actress she is and being too much in awe of it; he recently said, he would now, if it would help her over her stage fright after her illness, so maybe....
Wow…I had no idea. I’ve only seen him in Jane Eyre, but he’s grown on me. It’s kinda hard to allow space on the heels of Dalton, Welles, and Scott. She’s a staple, so if she’s cast, it’s probably gonna be interesting. Mother-son, pretty cool.

I have never been really able to see a resemblance between Toby Stephens and his father. However, in some of the stills were TS has longer hair, I can see it.
First iv'e heard of this very handsome son ,who I see is an Actor . France is never very informative about anything English . Unless you look for it . Not a cinephile for the last 40 yrs. On the mac have seen Kitchens in Foyals war Loved it remember ones childhood in Richmond Surrey .
