    RULES:
The object of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand. Pick a dealer who shuffles the deck and deals 7 cards facedown to each player. Players look at their own cards but keep them hidden from others. The dealer places the remaining deck facedown on the table as a draw deck and flips over the top card to start a discard pile. If this card is an action card, then ignore it and flip over another card until you get a non-action card.
The player to the left of the dealer goes first, then play initially proceeds clockwise. On your turn, you may play 1 card from your hand to discard pile, if you want. You can only play a card if it matches at least one attribute of the top card on the discard pile: its color, number, or symbol. If you cannot make a play, or you choose not to, then you must draw the top card of the deck and add it to your hand. If the drawn card is a playable card, then you are allowed to play it if you want. If there are no cards in the draw deck, then shuffle all but the top card of the discard pile into a new draw deck.
After you play or draw your turn ends and the next player goes. The moment you only have 1 card in your hand, you must yell “UNO” to alert of the other players you are about to win. However, if someone beats you to it, and calls “UNO” before the next player takes their turn, then you must draw 2 penalty cards.
There are special action cards you can play. When you do this is what happens:
Draw 2: The next player must draw 2 cards and loses their turn
Skip: the next player loses their turn.
Reverse: change the direction of play so it goes in the opposite direction
Wild: this card can match to any card in the discard pile. After playing a wild, you get to pick the color that continues play.
Wild shuffle hands: this card is a wild and can be played on anything. Once played, collect every card from all the players’ hands and shuffle them together. Starting with the player to your left, deal out all the cards to all the players. Players may end up with more or fewer cards than what they started with. Play continues in the current direction of play with you picking the color.
Wild draw four: this card is a wild and can be played on anything, however you are only allowed to play this card if you do not have any other cards in your hand with the same color as the top card in the discard. Once played, the next player may either draw 4 cards and lose their turn or they may challenge. If you challenge a draw 4, then the player who played it must reveal their hand. If they do not have the color in their hand that matches the discard pile they played to, then you must draw 6 cards and lose your turn. If they do have the color, then they must draw 4 cards instead and it is your turn. Regardless of the outcome of a challenge, that player picks the color that continues play.
Wild customizable: Before the game begins, remove these 3 cards and write with a pencil on them your own rule that must be followed when played. This card is a wild that may be played on any other card and you get to pick the color that continues play.
The first player to get rid of all the cards in their hand, wins. There is an optional victory method you can play which is for points. At the end of each hand, the player who went out scores points for each card remaining in their opponents’ hands. All number cards are worth their face value. Skip, reverse, and draw 2 are each worth 20 points. Wild cards are worth 50 points each. The first player to 500 points, wins.

      Isá. Paano laruin?

Don't know if I like the custom cards being writable by pencil, doesn't seem durable. They should have used that coating that allows whiteboard markers, easier to erase and no marks
A fun house rule would be that if someone wins a round, they get to rewrite one of custom cards.
Also, the shuffle wild should allow the +2 stacking house rule to be more viable.

    • @TheTrueBrawler
      @TheTrueBrawler Před rokem +44

There is a potential solution. Instead of writing rules directly onto the three cards, mark them as A, B, and C. Using a separate sheet of paper, you can write special rules corresponding to each letter and keep doing it each time you want to change what each of the three cards do. It's what my group did.

Its like that card on monopoly, that makes you throw money in the air and catch it, obviously making a mess and messing up the bills, the idea must be to destroy your game and then buy another one.
The option of marking them as A, B and C its quite clever actually.

      @TheTrueBrawler Před rokem +9

Challenging has been a thing for at least a couple decades, but people don't typically know about it because they don't read every detail in the rules. This is made even worse by the fact that Wild +4 cards have similar icon notation as +2 cards even though +2 cards don't have any rules relating to challenging. The end result is a card that most people will assume by default is just a hybrid of a +2 card and a Wild card with no other special properties.

    - OPTIONAL HOUSE RULES -
Taken from Ubisoft's adaptation of the game:
*Jump In* - Whenever an opponent plays a card, if you have the same exact card (matching BOTH the color and number/symbol), you may play it out of turn. Play then continues starting from the player next to you in turn.
*7/0 Hand Exchange* - Whenever you play a 7, you swap hands with any player of your choice. Whenever you play a 0, every player passes their cards to the next in turn. Play continues normally in both cases.
*Stacking* - Whenever you're the target of a draw action (Draw 2 or Wild Draw 4), you may play another draw action card to redirect the action to the next player with an increased card penalty. The card played must match in symbol, you can't play e.g. a Wild Draw 4 on top of a Draw 2.
*Draw to Match* - If you choose to draw a card on your turn, you must draw until you receive a card that you can play. You may then choose to play it or forfeit your turn.
*Force Play* - If (or when, if *Draw to Match* is active) you draw a valid card, you MUST play it.
*No Challenges* - Whenever you become the target of a Wild Draw 4 card, you MUST draw 4 cards; you may not challenge the player who played that card.

the only changes to the rules for 2023 that i can identify are the starting action card behaviors if they are drawn first for the discard pile. that has always been confusing, especially the wild card which wasn’t made clear whether the player chooses the color and then plays their card or only chooses the color.
nice to see that the solution now is to just keep drawing until a normal card can be put down.
it would be helpful to know if these rules were taken straight from a 2023 uno game or found online

So the main change is that before, if the first card in the discard pile is a Wild/Draw 2/Skip/Reverse, then the player to go first (dealer's left) is effected by it. If a Wild Draw 4 card is the first card in the discard pile, then it's returned to the deck and another first discard for the pile replaces it. Sorry if I'm not wording this exactly right...

We have a house rule in place that I personally call the "No U" rule, and it's that we can choose between doing the +4 wild challenge or not, or if we have a reverse card of any color, we can play that and it'll be treated as if the one who played the +4 lost the challenge even if they played it legally.

here is a good house rule: after playing a number card, if you still have cards with the same number on your hand, you can play them too on that turn, and you choose how many cards to play AND which card is on top of the discard pile

If you challenge the +4 and the oponent played it legally, you draw 6. If you challenge the +4 and you were right on the suspicion, the opponent draws 4 instead of you.

We use additional set of rules at home:
    1) If someone has 2 playable cards of same color and number, they can play those two cards at once
    2) If there is another card of same number but different color as well, they can drop it along with the two cards dropped as per rule 1
    3) Whenever someone plays +2 or wild +4, if the next person too has +2 or wild +4, he/she can play the card type corresponding to the previous player's card at their will and the resultant effect stacks up for the next player

If it's fun to play that way, you should play that way. People act like something not being in the "canon rules" makes it forbidden, and that finding out your house rule isn't an official rule is some sort of grand betrayal. The rules of the game make for a baseline, a general agreed upon framework, that you can then tweak and customize to make it work for you and your group. Just make sure everyone knows your house rules in advance and everything is Gucci.
