In my humble opinion the fact that Umar r.a. starts to cry also shows that he was not so cold and emotionless when it came to killing even though it was in the name of Islam. He must have already felt a strong emotional feeling that a Badri had committed such a treasonous act. Then finally when the Prophet s.a.w. forgave him all the roller-coaster emotions overwhelmed him. There have been many ruthless killers in history, Stalin is an example that comes to mind. We should always be aware that our minds naturally and somewhat unconsciously categorize types of human profiles and think of these humans as being emotionally similar when we truly know there can be no such comparison. Umar's r.a. approach might have often been cut and dry but his methodology would not reflect what was going through his heart. Allah knows this, and all we can know for sure is that he was the best of the best of human beings to live. Yasir Qadhi also made a similar point when talking about slavery. We naturally think of slavery as being merciless exploitation because we grew up thinking about the word as being what the Africans brought to America went through. Just because the word is the same doesn't mean that the slaves under Islamic ruling had any outstanding commonalities.

With regard to your opinion about the ppl who are staunch in takfeer, isn't that the same position established by the najd sheikhs. Abdulwahab was the same person who massacered and killed many Muslims who did not agree with his understanding/version of Islam.

    Episodes 76 - 81 Notes: Part 2
    - On The Journey to Makkah
A short while later, the Prophet SAW announced to everyone in Medina that, he is going to lead a large expedition and that every able man must come participate. The Prophet SAW did not tell anyone where the expedition would go, which included Aisha RA and Abu Bakr RA. The Prophet SAW even sent a scout party north of Makkah in order to mislead people from his actual target. The Prophet SAW gave a few weeks for everyone to prepare and then on the 9th of Ramadan in 8 AH, he informed the Muslims, a day before departure, that the target is Makkah.
On the 19th of Ramadan 8 AH, 10,000 Muslims arrived at the outskirts of Makkah after a 9 day journey. There was only a two day march left, before they would arrive at Makkah and it was here that, they encountered Al Abbas RA and his family who were all making Hijrah towards Medina. The Prophet SAW was overjoyed at seeing Al Abbas RA and told him to drop his family off in Medina and then re-join the army in conquering Makkah.
A short while later, Al Abbas RA re-joined the Muslim army and as they travelled, two men approached them. They were Abu Sufyan Ibn Al Harith Ibn Abdul Muttalib and Abdullah Ibn Abi Umayya who were both first cousins of the Prophet SAW. In the Makkah Era however, both of these men had been vocal opponents of Islam. But, now they had come to convert, so they went to Umm Salamah RA and asked her to speak to the Prophet SAW. When Umm Salamah RA informed the Prophet SAW about his cousins wanting to speak to him. The Prophet SAW outright refused to see them, due to the pain they had caused him. So, after Umm Salamah RA informed them both of this, they shouted and pleaded to be seen by the Prophet SAW, which softened the Prophet SAWs heart. Both then accepted Islam at the hands of the Prophet SAW.
    - The Conversion of Abu Sufyan RA
When there was only 1 day left before the army would arrive at Makkah. The Prophet SAW ordered the 10,000 Muslims to camp for the night and that tomorrow they would attack Makkah. That very night, Al Abbas RA approached the Prophet SAW and requested if he would allow, Al Abbas RA to speak to the Quraysh and avoid bloodshed. The Prophet SAW allowed this and even gave Al Abbas RA his own mule to ride. Al Abbas RA made his way to Makkah, but before he got there, he encountered Abu Sufyan, who was with two other Qurayshi elders that, were trying to scout the Muslim army.
Al Abbas RA called out to Abu Sufyan and told him to come back with him to the encampment of the Muslims, in order to speak to the Prophet SAW or be the first to be executed tomorrow when the army attacks. Abu Sufyan with no alternative left, came along on the mule Al Abbas RA was riding. Along the way they encountered Umar RA, who was joyful because he wanted to kill Abu Sufyan. But, Al Abbas RA informed him that, he had given Abu Sufyan protection and Umar RA thus came along with them to the Prophet SAWs tent.

Once they arrived there, Umar RA pleaded with the Prophet SAW to give him permission to kill Abu Sufyan. At this Al Abbas RA and Umar RA had a back and forth, before the Prophet SAW intervened and told Al Abbas RA to take Abu Sufyan back to his tent for the night and to come back to him tomorrow morning. Throughout the night, Al Abbas RA gave Abu Sufyan Dawah but, Abu Sufyan was hesitant to accept.
The next morning, Abu Sufyan went with Al Abbas RA to the Prophet SAW. It was here that, the Prophet SAW said to Abu Sufyan that, “is it not the time for you to accept that there is no god but Allah?”, at this Abu Sufyan praised the Prophet SAW for being so merciful to him despite how much evil he had done against him in the past. Abu Sufyan stated that, he accepts there is no god but Allah, but he is still unsure about “Muhammadur Rasulullah”.
At this Al Abbas RA urged Abu Sufyan to take his Shahadah, as it is now too late as the attack commences today. At this, Abu Sufyan RA reluctantly accepted Islam. The Prophet SAW then told Al Abbas RA to take Abu Sufyan RA to a nearby hill, so he can watch the army pass by. Al Abbas RA did this and Abu Sufyan RA was in awe at what the Prophet SAW had accomplished, by bringing these tribes together under one banner.
    - The Conquest Begins
On the 20th of Ramadan 8 AH, the 10,000 Muslims departed from their camp on the outskirts of Makkah and marched towards Makkah. Along the way, the Prophet SAW divided the army into 3 main contingents, which each consisted of sub contingents. The army consisted of 700 Muhajir, 4000 Ansar and the other 5300 were from allied Arab subtribes. The Ansar were led by Sa’d Ibn Ubadah RA, the Muhajirun lead by Khalid RA and a mixture of the two lead by the Prophet SAW himself.
Whilst the army marched, Sa’d Ibn Ubadah RA out of overzealousness shouted “Today is the day of bloodshed and today the Ka’aba will lose its Haram and become Halal”. Abu Sufyan RA heard this and immediately complained to the Prophet SAW, who chastised Sa’d RA by taking the flag banner away from him and giving it to Zubair Ibn Awwam RA. Shortly after this, Abu Sufyan RA was sent by the Prophet SAW, back to Makkah with orders to inform the Quraysh that, “drop your weapons and we will not fight”. This was to ensure a peaceful handover of Makkah, which is what the Prophet SAW wanted.
So, Abu Sufyan RA went and began shouting this in Makkah, the people gathered around him and he told them to seek shelter at his house, in the haram or in their own houses. It was at this moment that his wife, Hind Bint Utbah rushed to him and began cursing him in public, for allowing the Muslims to conquer them. Abu Sufyan RA then revealed to the Quraysh that, he is a Muslim and that they should not fight.
Eventually, the Muslim army arrived and the Prophet SAW separated them in two groups. One group would invade from the east and the other from the west of Makkah. The Prophet SAW explicitly forbade the Muslims from unsheathing their swords unless they are attacked.

Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series:
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series.
Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it.
You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes.
One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah.
Please keep me in your Duas and ask Allah SWT to forgive all our sins during this blessed month and beyond! Ameen

I find the position of Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahab very strange as he himself actually sought the help of the British to fight the Ottoman Empire, so by his own standards isn't he himself and his followers at that time, Kuffar? Seeking help from Non-Muslims against the Muslims

Christians need to be more like Al Moslimeen in not regarding a person a sinner, if they don't have a character trait of a major sin.
Regarding the treatment of people in this world requires physical evidence in this world, because their reputation needs preserved as someone even secularists would regard as equitable.
Islamic law is canonized to the fundamentalists, because they directly wish to follow Allah and his messenger rather than not trusting themselves in favor of taking scholars and those who lead prayers as lords.
The situation of Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah and his letter to the Quraysh warning them of Muhammad ibn `Abdullah's troops being on the mood sets the precedence in each regard. I would not excuse a person for what they did after they were forgiven for their past.
Even though apostasy is worse than killing, Suwrah 4 and the example of Prophet Muhammad makes clear apostates should not be harmed for that alone.
The leaders of no less than 40 Muslim majority countries have joined in increasing the suppression of Islamic belief and practice.
