These Heritage of the March Lps were funded by the late Bob Hoe a millionaire ,these march recordings were his passion. When we toured USA in 1977 after the show Bob Hoe requested that Band Sgt Major Jim Norris (cornet)and I as principal euphonium went to his house for an after show party ,we had to take our instruments too .after meeting all the guests and having some drinks and food ,we all had to go to his music room with a Hi Fi system with massive speakers,Bob was an amateur euphonium player and obsessed with euphonium and US Marines band .Jim Norris and I had to play along to Lps of Sousa Marches in front of all of his guests.a very strange experience 😂😂 the next day he took me and a friend Chris Bashford to meet legendary US Marine band Euphonium soloist Art Lehman at his bungalow where we had ice cream and listened to more Lps in Arts music room .Then took us for a dinner at a Steak restaurant.after that we visited Sousa's grave ,then he took us back to the band hotel .Great memories 😂😂

Thanks again Ross. A superb copy of this from that great series. Blackenburg and Hall both have a similar, easy style. They are a joy to listen too.

I seem to remember we didn't rehearse any of these ? On the day we either did first take or played through them once then recorded them ? These records were never for sale, they were made for genuine fans of march recordings. To obtain a record Bob Hoe would ask anyone who played on his recordings to write to him in the USA and he would post an LP free of charge, that way he knew they would go to genuine fans .He did hundreds of these records with bands all over the world. He did Brass band marches too with Black Dyke Mills, Sun life band and Besses( the brass band ones are on various CDs). A huge Thanks Ross for all your hard work digitilizing these rare Lps

@@elkartian Black Dyke Mills Band marches of Blankenburg and J.J. Richards. The JJ Richards are some of my favourites from the series. The SunLife Band playing circus marches is excellent as well
