😂 that's hilarious. There is some bridge famous for getting hit and from what I heard it would cost basically millions and millions to move it up just a couple of feet.
OffBrandBret that’s the 11 foot 8 bridge you keep seeing in the video. It’s because it’s got train tracks and it takes a hell of a lot to reroute a train to go higher and it would cost a lot shut down that piece of track until corrections are made. Dunno why they don’t lower the road underneath and drop the speed limit for safety, but that would still cost a hell of a lot. Many of them are railroad bridges and they are unable to build them higher because the railroad was there before those roads. A better idea would be to lower the road making a better clearance.
The bridge was raised to a new height of 12 feet 4 inches (3.76 m), the maximum clearance that would not affect the grades of nearby crossings. The entire project was expected to take two weeks to complete, although the actual raising on October 30, 2019, only took 8 hours.
The 11'8" bridge's nickname is called the can opener. Perfect name. A lot of these trucks are rented by non CDL drivers who are just moving crap from their old house to new one or similar and have no interest/idea about the road signs and warnings. Budget, Enterprise, Penske and other truck rental companies need to do a better job of warning these rental drivers in this general vicinity, other.wise their trucks come back with no roof, LOL.
These Penske trucks are most likely rented; up to a certain size of truck you can rent without having an HGV licence. But the rental company will have warned the drivers to pay attention to Low Bridge Ahead warnings.

"11 foot 8" is famous, has its own channel, and its own compilation of its videos. Showing any of those in this is a fraud. Anybody who wants to watch a "Trucks Hitting Bridges" compilation, implicitly want none of them to be from "11 foot 8" because, of course, they expect the compiler to know that they have seen those already. I could do a compilation, just by copying an entire video from the "11 foot 8" channel. Not good.
Reminds me of what happened in Brooklyn after they opened up the Verrazano bridge. The interstate feed into both the Brookly-Queens Expressway (built to interstate standards) and the Belt Parkway which had LOTS of LOW foot bridges. Truckers who were unfamiliar with the route missed the turnoff for the BQE and ended up on the Belt. One was carrying live chickens which ended up all over the highway when the truck hit a bridge and was peeled open. Another one was full of watermelons. I won't go into the 'round up' that the police had on their hands for the truck full of cattle. (Traffic had to MOOve over).
pinnocchioslayer984 ~ The 11'8" Bridge is over 100 years old. It has flashing signs and safety features telling trucks to turn as they are over height. People are ignorant. I think that even if the City put up no through truck signs banning all box trucks, this would still happen. If you go to yovo68, the creator of all the 11'8" bridge videos, the full videos are there along with information. Hopefully this creator has yovo68's permission to use all his footage. Here's the link to his latest original video: czcams.com/video/I0BJmC6u7MU/video.html
The bridge is not the problem. The problem is that they don't want to lower the road to provide sufficient clearance for this problem to go away because it's a cash-cow for the local businesses.
ThinkingBetter ~ No. The problem is ignorant drivers. It is not feasible to lower this road in this spot. Also, why should the taxpayers be penalized? If you can't read common street signs, much less red lights and FLASHING signs and are not smart enough to know how high the vehicle you are driving is, then you should not be allowed on the roads. I know I don't want them on the roads with me! These drivers are 100% the problem. If you're not sure, go around. Like the water over the road saying people ignore...turn around, don't drown. It's just plain common sense.
Why is it not feasible to lower the road on this spot? Of course it's feasible. Lots of these events happen with people driving a rented truck and these people never had to worry about height when driving so it's not in their awareness. 100% of people renting a truck for moving don't know how tall the truck is. This problem exist for the reason I told you. Sloppy corrupt local government is what this is about.
It's been raised to 12 foot 6 and trucks still hit it. How about just close the road to anything over 10 feet tall! Truck driver should know how tall their truck is and pay attention to the multiple warning signs.
I drove a truck just like most of the ones in this video all over the US and Canada. Not once did I put a scratch on my company truck or the many Ryder rentals I also drove. It just isn't that hard to subtract the height of the bridge from the height of your truck to figure this stuff out. ;-)

Anyone know where it is so I can pay my respects to the fallen trucks one day?
DivineAthiestWannabe...just search 11'8" bridge on CZcams there's many videos, however that bridge has been fixed and no longer has truck wrecks.
0:24 I thought that was a disappearing magic for a sec.
Odaftsto
2:06 there was a person on there that went down with the bridge!!
2:21 This is one of my favorites. Always cracks me up.
lmao why is there that one bridge that just destroys trucks
Because it's good business for the local repair shops. The mayor should go to jail.
pinnocchioslayer984 ~ The 11'8" Bridge is over 100 years old.
Best one yet
Barber: How much you want off?
Me: Just a little off the top
Barber:
Get the slo mo guys here and this would be even better
lol some people are actually defending the drivers and saying its a bridge's fault. ive seen it all now.
Its like if someone shit at a guy and they blame the guy that got shit
Have you ever noticed, the bridge always wins?
The truck that caught on fire almost took the bridge out.
Not at 2:06

Petition to remove the 11ft 8in bridge from the motorways
It's been raised to 12 foot 6 and trucks still hit it. How about just close the road to anything over 10 feet tall! Truck driver should know how tall their truck is and pay attention to the multiple warning signs.
You start to realise something when you see the same bridge over and over again
That two or three bridges are made to destroy trucks!!
2:47 afterwards he’s like “I’ll just slink off slowly and hope no one notices”
Teacher: Can anyone tell me what is a bridge for?
Kid: Bridge is for opening trucks like a can opener.
I drove a truck just like most of the ones in this video all over the US and Canada. Not once did I put a scratch on my company truck or the many Ryder rentals I also drove. It just isn't that hard to subtract the height of the bridge from the height of your truck to figure this stuff out. ;-)
R.I.P.
