From a dreamer to a doer was incredibly motivational. I agree that our biggest obstacles are often our own fears and hesitations.
I love “dreamer to a doer” 🎉 So glad this resonates with you!
definitely, and once we overcome them we're pretty unstoppable 💪🏼💪🏼
I'm not stuck, I am just resting, lol
I've been trying to message you, are you getting them?
This is perfect for this time right now.
I feel like my mental endurance is holding me back. At my last sport, I quit - no excuse, and I frankly didn't want an excuse. I just flat out quit. I kept having negative thoughts until it became to much that I stopped. Since then I have been really disappointed in myself. It was a really depressing moment to be completely honest.
Find a way to turn the negative thoughts into helping thoughts. For me, it's digging to the root of the negative voices and realizing that I was trying to protect myself with them.
Sometimes you don't know that you can do something until you do it. But once you've done it before, it suddenly seems very much within reach.
It takes a lot of courage to share what you have here and just naming the issue can be the start of your breakthrough. Next time you want to quit, visualize what your life will look and feel like in ONE year if you don’t quit. Then decide today is not the day for quitting…
Then you know the answer - don't quit, keep going. You will get there.
Listen to this ted, thats a step forward....
Could definitely relate to the "having more ideas than time" part. And when you finally get time to act on one of those ideas it's like all the excitement you had for it has already worn away
Me too, never enough hours in the day
Good motivation, isn't it?
Great talk, needed this, thanks for sharing it.
Oh wow yeah I definitely know that feeling
Hahaha yes! This was me all throughout my life but now that I'm retired strangely I just want to enjoy doing very little
I feel like I've been on the someday isle my whole life... seriously my ability to slip in and out of complete disassociation is unrivalled.
This is more common than we think and it’s nice to vacation there…sometimes… 🏝️
me too, always not here.
Good share, thanks for sending to me Jackie!!!
Love this, and yes I agree I do the same thing
She delivers a powerful talk - good share girl.
It's incredible what can be achieved when you decide to take action, no matter the circumstances.
Indeed! And it’s that moment of decision that is the launchpad forward!
Good way to start the day hearing this.
Emotional Endurance is the key takeaway for me.
This is Good - well done, Leslie, nice link to share....
I've been stuck since I turned 28, I don't know if this will help, but I'll try listening again.
I couldn't help but nod along when she described the lands of Could and Should. Story of my life!
I'm also a working parent, and I really connected with her story. It's not easy juggling it all, but it's so worth it to show our kids what's possible.
A TEDx Talk will NEVER be in our "Someday I'll..." WAY TO GO, Leslie!
Thank you so much, Amy!!
her energy is contagious, even through a screen. I feel like I could listen to her talk all day and never get bored.
Thank you so much!!
@@LeslieMBosserman very welcome!~!
Love the juxtaposition of the shoulds vs. could and starting with the information and skills you have right now.
her story is proof that we don't need to have it all figured out to make a difference. We just need to start with what we see in front of us.
Yes indeed! One step at a time!
Love this so much. Also being a mother of 3 I always feel like I get stuck in should or could land. Thanks Leslie for this beautifully delivered speech!
Thank you, Amber!
Leslie crushed it! Her points about getting off the "wishing well" and starting to do was so inspiring.
Thank you!! 🎉
Emotional endurance is a phrase I’ve never heard before and it makes SO MUCH SENSE!!! So many people give up and it’s strategy and fortitude that makes it happen!
Thank you, Katie!
Yeah that's going straight into everyday use
Totally relate to that tension between dreaming about the future versus the present obligations. balance is key!
Leading with intention is a mindset shift we all need 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yes indeed! So glad this resonated with you, too!
the story about creating The Maker's Place out of a personal need is so relatable and I think it shows how we can turn our struggles into successes. Sometimes the best solutions come from our own challenges.
Thanks so much and creating a business from a real community need had been one of the greatest gifts and learning opportunities!!
I felt super inspired by how she took action to create that coworking space solution she needed, instead of just talking about it. Stepping out on faith like that is goals!
Absolutely!! When you choose faith over fear, amazing things can happen ❤
Love this! It's never too late to start something that matters. Small steps today, big changes tomorrow!
Yes! One step at a time!
Yup, you just gotta go for it! Trust in yourself and know that making a start and taking baby steps is better than putting it off forever
So true!
The idea of leading with intention and creating a 'to be' list instead of a 'to do' list is just wonderful. I agree it's more important to focus on who we are becoming rather than what we are doing.
I think so too! Otherwise we're just the same people doing things but never evolving
What a great way to start my day today. Thank you for your beautiful story and key insights! You should write a book!
Thank you so much and the book is in the works!! 📚
her personal stories added so much depth to the talk. They were really relatable and inspiring.
I'm so glad they connected with you!
"You can have it all, just not all at once" - I needed to hear that today. I put so much pressure on myself to achieve everything RIGHT NOW.
Just focus on what's in front of you...then do the next thing!
Her journey of going from an ambitious 20-something to building multiple businesses and raising 3 kids is just... amazing and it's really assuring to hear her advice knowing that she was able to do all of it that way
Lots of faith, focus, and fortitude ❤
She's so right! We all have those dreams on hold. But maybe starting small, with what we have now, is the key.
I believe that’s what we’re all capable of, even if we feel stuck. Doing what we can with what we have moves us forward!
I think so too!
She makes a lot of good points but I don't know what the "small" version of my dream looks like
yup, baby steps..
@@oakleysienna maybe you just need to figure out how the big version starts out?
This talk is absolutely spot-on-- and I love the metaphors!
Thank you, Lauren!
What great points! As a procrastinator, this helps me find ways to get started before i'm ready. So proud of you and thank you for spreading such valuable information
Thank you so much!! I’m so glad my message resonated with you ❤
"You can have it all, just not all at once" - I needed to hear that. It's a great reminder to be patient with myself.
It’s one of my favorite reminders and I’m glad it resonated with you, too!
That is actually really great advice
I think this is also such a great example of what can happen when you just voice your needs, no matter how outlandish they sound because once someone else hears them it's like OH ACTUALLY that's achieveable!
Yes🎉🎉🎉
The balance between dreaming and doing is delicate.
And it starts with one small step forward...
that part about not being afraid of not knowing the outcome and just starting is some really great encouragement. I wonder why we're all so afraid of just taking that first step
Sometimes the first step is the scariest step…
Anyone who procrastinates NEEDS this! Sharing with my friends for sure
Thanks so much!! I’m glad it resonated with you 🎉
kudos to her for embodying her message of intentional living so fully. You can tell she walks her talk, not just talks it. Inspiring!
That is the goal!! ❤
@@LeslieMBosserman THANKS!
Imma have to watch this one again, she dropped so many gems about intentional living that I need to fully take in.
Thank you!! And yes, please re-watch and share 🎉
"Build with what you have" - such a simple yet profound advice. Powerful even.
Thank you! I'm glad this resonated with you!
Absolutely, this made so much sense to me!
Love what she said about how when you know your work has meaning it motivates you. I worked in retail for nearly 15 years and while it wasn't the worst I definitely didn't love every moment of it. Now that I'm in a job where I feel like I'm actually _doing_ something the shift in my mental health is outrageous.
Yes yes yes!! So glad you’ve found a strong fit that is more motivating!
it's reassuring to know that even the most put-together people have moments of wanting to trade in their responsibilities. We all need a break sometimes.
Building with what you have, enhancing emotional endurance, and leading with intention. These tools are game-changers.
Thank you and I’m glad my talk resonated with you!!
is that from the talk or just your message? lol
Amazing talk - we all do it sometime - great points on how to move forward, to Be, and to Do. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and wisdom.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you connected with these points, too!
I'm getting creative with what I have and starting to chase those dreams. Onward and upward!
Love this!! ❤
I know I'm gonna face challenges and setbacks on the road to my dreams, but the idea of building emotional endurance gives me hope that I can work up to doing those hard things.
This is wonderful to hear and EXACTLY why I’m writing a book about this!!
This talk is like a treasure trove of knowledge. So much to learn and implement!
Thank you so much for listening!! Please reshare to spread the knowledge! ❤
Shout out to my folks for making my mental endurance strong enough to run back-to-back metaphorical marathons 🤘🏼
Yes 🎉🎉🎉
LMAO
Wow, the 'Someday Isle'! That's definitely where I live.. Always dreaming of better, but not acting now. This talk is a wake-up call. Time to ditch the island and start doing what I can today
I’m so glad you found my talk to be inspirational and I’m excited to hear what you do next!
“Movement.
Action.
Curiosity.
Discovery.
Sometimes being stuck means
going deep
and deep discoveries are made there,
but sometimes stuck is just
stuck
and some kind of movement is required
to get things going.”
― Shellen Lubin
Love this! And that's a great start to a "to be" list!!
"You can have it all, just not all at once." Daaaamn okay this really struck me as something profound and yes, it is 100% correct because some of the things even cancel each other out!
Yes!!! I'm glad this resonated with you, too!
Makers place sounds fantastic. Not just because of the childcare aspect but just to have a shared working space, seems like it would make for some great connections amongst the community.
Yes it is indeed! We love the community we’ve created at @MakersPlaceSac
"The only limit is the one you set for yourself." 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah this quote slaps
This is not just about the physical or intellectual resources but alsoa emotional strength.
So true! I'm glad this resonated with you!
Leslie just flipped a switch in my brain! No more excuses about not having enough.
Same, we can make do with what we have!
Fantastic to hear! Keep taking the next step…and then the next…
I like what she said around the 7:16 mark, never heard the time before but what she said about it definitely rings true
Emotional Endurance is such a key quality to learning how to lead with intention!
Thanks for the reminder that we can start before being ready! This talk is definitely going down as one of my all-time favorites.
You’re most welcome and hearing this made my day! Please share it with those that need to hear the message ❤
It's pretty awesome, so full of memorable take aways!
This is a masterclass in overcoming self-doubt 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Love hearing this!!
absolutely, lots of great stuff here
Thanks for the push, Leslie.
You're welcome!
Stop wishing and start acting! This is exactly the kind of encouragement I've been needing. Thanks!
Wonderful to hear and you're welcome!
Yes it's very motivating!
"Plant your tree now" - such a motivational metaphor.
Absolutely!! 🌱☀️🌳
Taking action now rather than waiting for "someday" really puts into perspective.
Yes indeed! I’m so glad this topic resonates with you as well!
Yeah also it makes me think by doing that you're making everyday "someday"
Ooft I'm saving this one. I know I'm gonna come back to it when I need a reminder to stop saying "someday" and start saying "today."
Our “somedays” are such powerful, limiting excuses…
Emotional endurance resonated with me. It's all about inner strength.
I'm so glad! More to come on this topic soon!
Same, such an interesting concept
I could really relate to her struggle with having too many ideas and not enough time to pursue them all. Definitely need to work on pacing my passion better.
Yes!! Me too! ❤
Her story about launching that coworking space while pregnant is so inspiring! if she can do that, I got no excuses lmao
Thank you!!🎉
Let go of the idea of needing to have it all at once. I will embrace the journey from here on out!
Wonderful to hear! 🙌
Yes! It's hard to let go of but I'm also going to give it a go
Yes indeed! One season at a time!
Aww that co-working space is such an amazing idea and the slogan is *everything*
Thank you!! We love the community we’ve built at @MakersPlaceSac
This talk really made me think about my own dreams and what I need to do to achieve them.
Yes!! Go for it…one step at a time!
What an amazing perspective and helpful and practical tools from someone who has done the work! 🎉 Thank you!!
You’re welcome!! Thanks for sharing!
Someone told me that when you're about to start a project or a hobby, the more you tell people about it, the less likely you are to actually do it. See your brain doesn't know the difference between actually doing the thing and just thinking about doing it or imagining that you've done it. So the more people you tell and the more positive reinforcement you get back from them it's like your brain thinks you've already done it so eventually you just run out of enthusiasm to do it. I don't know if this is true for other people but it's definitely real for me so now I just have to do things without telling anyone until I've actually done it!
What an interesting idea and it just goes to show that taking that first step into action makes all the difference!
@@LeslieMBosserman thanks, lovely talk Leslie
I'm inspired to look for small ways to build with what I have. Baby steps still move us forward.
Yes1 Each step moves us forward!
@@LeslieMBosserman true...
It's about making peace with the present while building for the future.
So true! I'm glad this resonated with you!
This journey from dreaming to doing is truly inspiring!
Yes indeed! Thank you!
It is! Hard to hear though, what happens when you just don't want to "do" ??
if you can be inspired by the journey itself that's pretty amazing
Haha! "Pace my passion" - that Leslie is a genius! I never thought about it that way, but it totally explains why I burn out so easily.
Why thank you!! 😂 And finding your life rhythm in each season is essential! I like to think of it as “what soundtrack is my life pacing at now?” 🎶
CONGRATULATIONS my friend!!!
Thank you so much, Dotti!
The analogy of planting a tree from her talk really hit home.
I’m so glad to hear this and it’s one of my favorites
Leslie!!! This was excellent. Congratulations. ❤️🎉
Thank you so much!! I appreciate you watching and sharing!
I gotta learn more about this! Building emotional endurance sounds like a superpower I need.
I’m working on writing my first book about this exact topic! Stay tuned and follow me for more updates!
we all have the potential to overcome our own "Someday Isle" mindset
So true!
Hearing this has given me the nudge I needed to start acting on my ideas. 🙏🏻
I love hearing this! Follow the nudge...
Awesome!
Watched your youtube video, and left feeling equipped, empowered and motivated to step out and achieve more goals in my life.
Thank you.
That’s wonderful to hear!! 🎉 Pass it along!
Loved the story about the two kingdoms! Such a creative way to illustrate the point.
Thank you! I wrote it years ago and thought it was a perfect intro for these three points! 🎉
Oh man this absolutely speaks to me... I get so caught up in ideas and inspiration for all these creative projects and hobbies that I think I can turn into businesses and then.... ??? It's like it all just disappears because I don't act on it straight away but I never feel like I'm organised enough to act on it... like I have to wait for the right time and space or something but obviously that's never going to happen...
Yes!! And you’re not alone! What’s your next FIRST step forward?
Love this!
Thank you so much!
Bravo!
Whoa!! LOVE the idea of a “to be” list!!!!
Thank you!! I still use this 🎉
Great tips on starting before you are ready!
Thanks Rey!
I could totally relate to having too many ideas and not enough time. learning to pace my passion is def something I struggle with
Same here! Glad it was relatable!
@@LeslieMBosserman very, good ted thanks
Lovely and inspiring talk. I enjoyed listening to Leslie speak.
Thanks so much!! 🎉
Thank you so much!!
this talk was so relatable! i'm always stuck daydreaming about my ideas but never actually starting them smh
I’m so glad the topic connects with you, too 🎉
@@LeslieMBosserman it did, your talk is wonderful!!!
Thank you!!
When she brought it back to that simple Chinese proverb about the best time to plant a tree? Poetry! Sometimes the simplest truths are the most profound.
It’s one of my favorite examples of why now is the next best time to start!
Starting without knowing the outcome is scary, but she makes it sound a little less terrifying. Every journey starts with single step I guess
Each steps leads us closer to the next right thing!
Wow she's kind of amazing. Building a business with two young kids is so impressive when here I am barely keeping my sanity with one...
It’s all about stages of life and doing what you can with the resources and support you have 🎉 And while it definitely wasn’t easy and there were certainly some big sacrifices, seeing the greater impact through the vision kept me going (well, that and coffee ☕️)
When she talked about developing emotional endurance to deal with stresses? felt that for sure. I def struggle pushing through challenges sometimes
Learning how to develop our inner capacity to keep going (not just the external ability to push through) is essential!
Wow, needed to see this today....
So glad to hear this!
Emotional endurance sounds like a superpower. I wonder what mine would look like if I really developed it.
Emotional Endurance is accessible to anyone since we were designed to develop it!
This was am inspiring talk!
Thank you for watching! I’m glad it resonated with you!
lmao that slogan "we're here for you when working from home isn't working" is iconic! they predicted pandemic struggles
I’m hoping “visionary” is more accurate than “prophetess” 😂😂😂 Thank you!!
❤
I love how she launched her business while pregnant. It's like she was birthing two babies at once - talk about multitasking!
Sometimes one BIG priority births another out of necessity! 😂
LOL @ the 3:30 mark! That's weirdly sassy for a proverb but I like it.
This talk reminds me that even small steps can lead to big things. Maybe someday I can write a children's book, but for now, reading bedtime stories with silly voices will have to do. And that's okay!
As a mom of three young kids, the bedtime stories are the building blocks to everything else ❤
definitely, those small things add up
Ugh, this 'Someday Isle' sounds tempting. No more laundry or endless emails? Sign me up! But then I remember my little ones, and I know I can't just check out
I knew you would like this....
Same here, Randi! And I've found that checking IN is better anyway :) Good luck with the laundry (I'm currently on my 12th load with three young kids!!)
Amazing and yes to no laundry
I love this; she's entertaining, too.
Yeah agreed, this is why TEDs are so good, great shares great info
