I didn't know guitars could be this good. Robin Boucher has done something special with these guitars the Mahogany SG-41-G is so light! The Rosewood is so responsive!

The tune played comparing the two guitars is Neil Gows Lament arranged by Tony McManus that I learned through Truefire. Here is the affiliate link prf.hn/l/3PZDmeV
Does the audio sound good? You can thank Jordan Dean at Sweetwater for helping out. Jordan would listen to my videos and help me tweak the audio for the next one. You can reach him at jordan_dean@sweetwater.com.

I like mahogany dreads and small rosewood guitars. I have a D18 and I’m going to get a 00-28 next.

Nice video Nick! For me, I think a lot has to do with what you want to do with it. When I’m strumming, I definitely prefer mahogany - rosewood’s overtones make my strumming sound very muddy. But for fingerstyle, I love the overtone rich rosewood and mahogany always tends to sound like something is “missing” in comparison. I think you must have both, LOL! Oh, and I loved hearing the comparison of you tapping the tone woods - very very cool!

Nice video. Rather than tapping the wood planks get yerself a large tuning fork, tap the fork then touch post to wood, you'll get a true understanding of the wood's resonate properties 😊

I'll have to do some research on that. Thanks!

I'll try and get a set but they are extremely limited supply. For now, all I have is the demo video of the guitar czcams.com/video/YykSjYbc6iY/video.html

The rosewood has a big bass response.

The mahogany produces a beautiful balance of fundamentals and harmonics AT THE INSTRUMENT, for the player, or very nearby listeners. However, higher frequencies (like harmonic overtones) attenuate drastically at greater distances. So the rosewood produces a better balance at a distance. In a purely acoustic setting, playing for myself, or a very intimate audience, or for a microphone, I go Mahogany, but when playing for a larger, more distant audience, I usually go with rosewood.
