Yeah. I honestly don't know what the whole hubbub is about. You want the best security, yet Don't want a pill for that...
yuk, pill shaped notch is an instant deal breaker, hell even a normal puch hole bothers me, that's why the redmagic 8 pro is so tempting.
Got this phone about 2 weeks ago, got to say it blow me away. Best flagship I had, taking into account tech improvement year by year. I also got an early bird bundle - £80 off (£869.99 all in inc. delivery) + top quality case + 100w capable wireless charger + Honor earbuds 3 pro (which are epic) and 6 month screen repair insurance!! I know😮. BTW I don't work for Honor lol. Also love your reviews Nick, great work.
How's the notifications especially on Gmail?, saw on some forums mentioning there's some delay and stuff.

This is absolutely insane! That's the best portrait (or bokeh) video I've ever seen! Wish it was 4K/30, though. It would've been even better. Great review as always!

Atm probably you are the best youtuber on smartphones for me. For years I watching the "famous" youtubers but when I saw your reviews on these phones, I understood the massive difference. The comparison was hilarious against them and you should feel proud for your work.
Also I enjoy much your "camera" reviews and not change nothing. ULTA detailed and pleasand to the eye and ear. Hope soon you will be more famous. Also waiting more reviews from you like "Huawei Mate 60 pro" etc.

I was waiting for this review. Totally blew my mind!
The 3D face unlock along with the high PWM frequency make this a dream phone. All the other specs as the flagship soc, display quality, cameras, storage etc. are just an icing on the cake. I only wish I found out about this phone sooner, since I had to get rid of my S23U due to it's low PWM frequency.
Finally a worthy replacement for my Huawei p30 pro. Especially, since I just found out it can use the NFC function to share screen drop photos and vids with my Huawei laptop and other devices on the Super device function!

love the content its cool to see our further upgrade paths, since you back in RSA maybe consider teaming out with our networks to share phones that they will also provide, some global variants don't hit our shores
I was thinking of purchasing a Xiaomi 13 Pro but was reluctant to pay the 1100 Euro asking price here in Thailand. Having come across this review, I'm thinking I'm going to give Honor a shot. At 800 Euros in Thailand, this is unbeatable value!

Really impressive camera setup
Dedicated gpu chip is also appreciable & with 3d face detection technique it can easily handle a great selfie cam.
How come I never got to know about this phone?? It's fantastic in every aspect. It even beats the iphone 15 pro Max at the battery drain test.

Hi Nick. Good & detailed review as always. Love it. I just wanna ask, on the latest Magic UI or even the latest Huawei's HarmonyOS, can we long-press/long-click on any apps icon, then can view options like 'apps information' to do force stop, clear cache etc? If u know what I am trying to ask... 😅
Got any answer? I want to know too =) Well It works well for Xiaomi. Xiaomi all the options, battery saver, auto start when you press and hold it.
@@isaacmendez3902 unfortunately not the same case for Huawei and Honor OS. All others OEM UI/skins already implemented this useful features as standard. This might be the one of the culprit that makes Honor & Huawei UI so old skool & less featured compared to competitors.

I have mate 50 pro and magic 5 pro and I hear P60 pro is even better than them
Pixel 7pro has dramatic battery drain compare to competitors. Huawei do not have google services and based on old 8 gen 1 plus
i had honor 7x 2016 model and Huawei view 20 and i love them. I didn't suggest P60 pro because lack of GMS and 5G. I would have suggested Magic 5 pro if he mentioned it :)

A 3.5 times zoom shouldn't go past 30x zoom. If companies want 100x zoom they should bare minimum have a 10x optical zoom
What's the problem of having something more? I don't want to be limited like on the iPhone
@@lorenzocannizzaro6567 its the quality of the digital zoom. Punching in digitally 10x is about the max you can go before the image looks completely terrible. Cropping in nearly 30x is just bad. Even at 30x zoom the quality was terrible

This is a great phone. Software isn't the best but the phone is one of the best looking phones out there.

Any issues with lens flare? Some people are talking about a rainbow effect when taking pictures or recording videos at direct sunlight. Btw at benchmark tests like Antutu and PCMark Magic 5 Pro performs better than S23 Ultra and the camera got an improvement update in April. No more throttle issues and better stability while gaming
I saw that lens flare too, not too obvious depending on the angle of the sun mostly, but it's there, idk if they fixed it or at least did something

Are you sure that it is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner because in GSMarena they mentioned that it is an optical one. Can you just confirm once?
It's an optical scanner, but it's been pretty fast and accurate so far for me

I recently bought one of these after a pixel 7, S22 ultra and 13 pro max. My favourite phone I've ever had is the Huawei Mate 20 pro. The Honor Magic 5 pro gets the closest. Obviously the Magic 5 Pro is much better but at the time the Mate 20 Pro was so far ahead. The Honor feels quite far ahead.

I'm getting the Honour Magic 5 Pro for £531.99 that's £100 off honor voucher + 8% (£68) off buying through First Xclusives and selling my S20 ultra with charger and cases for £250 .. and getting £500 of free gifts on top from Honor earphones wireless charger extra case and screen protector .. I looked at the S23 ultra and I do not want it will never use the pen and costs too much

This video is 4K/60FPS so not sure what else he can do? Maybe it is your TV resolution that sucks, or am I missing something?
Most of the time, if you watch the video as soon as it's released, the 4k won't be available right away. Will need to wait a couple of hours for the 4k to be available

It has about 6.8% bigger battery so it's battery life should be about 6.8% longer, because these are the same devices so their baterry optimisation should be the same.

Yes, but you can change it with novalauncher.
1000 nits wasn't peak brightness of magic 4 pro, it was it's typical brightness. Magic 5 pro's typical brightness is around 1300 nits so difference isn't that big.

Inflation and global distribution plus wage increases ect the short answer is yes and will be getting much worse

Xiaomi 13 ultra has better camera, but only has 1080p/30 fps on front am, this magic 5 pro has 4k/30 on front camera so over all this is better and cheaper and closest to Huawei phone
I went with the Honor Magic 5 Pro in the end and very happy with my decision thanks. Xiaomi 13 ultra wasn't coming to UK release, I tested the regular Xiaomi 13 pro but still preferred the Honor overall.
@@shanume Xiaomi 13 Ultra better camera hardware but not by that much. Plus Xiaomi Leica camera software while producing very nice looking images they aren't fully accurate.
The Honor Magic5 Pro camera software arguably produces the most overall accurate images yet out of any smartphone.

For the front facing camera or rear? Front because people are anal about pill shape or punch out holes on the screen. Although so many put up with much worse on the iphone so...

Probably a matter of taste, but coming from OxygenOS, to me MagicOS is mostly a step down. I get random device locks (lock screen kicks in), a fair share of bloatware (okay) and HONOR OS-integrated crapware (not okay) like H. SHARE, H. CONNECT, H. ID, YOYO, none of which add functionality or can be hidden 🤢 to make matters worse, the Magic5 Pro for some reason has raised little to no interest in the XDA community (despite superb hardware) so little rooting/ROM support so far :/
