- Bios settings for prepping a Dell Optiplex 9020 for imaging in an office environment where BitLocker will be used. Don't change these settings unless you are prepared to install a new OS on the machine as it will most likely not boot till you change it back.

I had a hard drive fail, replaced it and it's not loading, I put it in 9020 I just got w/o hdd and same, put a gamers seeing here and it didn't work. Without you who knows how much longer I would have spent to get it 1/2 this good.. Again thank you Bob.

You can't overclock Optiplex computers in any way. They are Dell's Business/Enterprise PCs and have no overclock abilities in the Bios settings.
This helped me in a different way than most people in the comments. I needed to make some instructions for someone that involved resetting the BIOS and setting it up again. I don't have the computers in front of me, so this helped me go through the BIOS options that need to be changed back, thank you!

Hi searched web, got into bios again, followed your video etc wouldn't work, research again. Changed back to Legacy and then default, it worked. Diagnostic check everything ok, persisted, thanks for your video
same dell laptop, 1:26 this tpm security is probably why im having problem booting up with error code 8007139f right after dell logo, do you know anything about this?

I have a Dell Optiplex 9020 Micro, and I cannot get it to recognize a USB boot drive. It doesn't show any USB devices in BIOS nor in the boot menu. The USB drive is fine as it works on my main PC.

The dell optiplex I ordered has four 8 gb sticks of ram installed but it's only able to use 3.42, and I looked it up and read to try to find the "memory remap feature" but I have no idea where that is or if it's something else on this computer

This shouldn't break anything if you read the description and are following the use case for the video. You don't change the settings unless you are reinstalling the OS. Changing them back will restore your computer.
I have a GPU on a PCI Slot. In the BIOS it shows PCI Slot Empty. Please help.

This is a Dell Optiplex 9020 released in 2013. We actually retired the remaining 9020s my company was using in 2022. They still ran fine for an older model after upgrading to SSD hard drives, but can never run Windows 11.

Do you have a Bios setting video for non office users?
@@FrankLin-lh6ih If you already had an operating system installed, then made changes to some of these settings, you are going to have issues. Not knowing what you changed, I'm not sure I can tell you how to fix the issue. Best thing would be to click the "Load Defaults" button at the bottom of the page, apply and exit.

I came to the same dead end, apparently can't change the settings on my end either.
You can't overclock on this motherboard. It's built for stability. It's lucky the ram even posted.
@@marklagace6025 This comment is half right, you cannot do XMP, however CPU/GPU OC does work and of course factory OC will be oc. Happy new year!

Changing some of these settings on a working Operating System will break it. Only make changes if you will be reinstalling the operating system (Windows, Lunix, etc). These settings won’t matter if the system disk is partitioned unless you are changing them on a working OS as stated above. This is a video of the settings I use on our corporate Dell 9020 computers and is intended for use by technicians in my company so all computers are set up the same. They will work for anyone.

On most Dells, F2 will enter Bios. F12 will bring up a boot options menu where you can enter Bios as well.

If this was not a fresh install of the operating system, you'll need to revert the settings.

@@timmynotjerry Some articales say TPM 1.2 will work. It has UEFI and Secure Boot. I think TPM will make anything below x050 redundant.

you will need an external gpu, most of the time via a thunderbolt connector. Or does your laptop have 2 cards?

You can't set any overclocking on Dell Optiplex PCs. They are a business class PC without any overclocking in the Bios settings.

The Optiplex 9020 is a business workstation from 2013. It doesn't have XMP, or any overclocking capabilities in bios.
