      I appreciate American football, like it a lot actually, but there’s a lot of waiting between the plays and the ball doesn’t move between the players enough. And, for whatever reason, helmetless rugby seems to generate less serious injuries than helmet wearing, padded American football.

      Lack of experience and competition against the best teams for the Eagles. However, during this period 2014-2015, despite a big score here, the Eagles were really interesting, and the most exciting starting XV was never reunited at 100%. By example, AJ MacGinty was not eligible for this game, Takuzwa Ngwenya (right-win) and Thretton Palamo (inside centre), Cam Dolan (number 8) were absent, and Danny Barrett was injured at the beginning of the game.

    Ok first time kiwi watching this game, it was an ordinary game from the Eagles in the first half but was impressed with them in the second half when they realised the Blacks backline weren't just feeding a straight backline but were predominantly using miss out passes to catch the Eagles napping in the back line but after half time that changed and they started to make headway and even doing reverse passes but against the Blacks that is normal fare and they were ready. There was some good positives for the Eagles in playing the Blacks. Their coach obviously hadn't been keeping up with many recent international games.
    I guess the coach sitting in the box was watching and restructured their play strategy for the second half.

      It was a reasonably clever way to introduce the concept of a try to an American audience that has only seen touchdowns in NFL, where the ball doesn't even have to touch the ground I thought. They were trying to communicate to a relatively less informed American audience and had to use some crisp verbal imagery to drive the points home. It's weird to us but, we're already well versed in all the minutiae.

    It doesn't take much time to learn mechanics of this game, it does however need a little time in refinement for conditioning, method, and sharp witts in understanding the game's language.
    Just 6 months of intensive training with the right selection of players ( I know this idea may seem a little out there, but I'm definitely confident that I know what I am talking about, by the example of over here in Australia, many athletes switch codes all the time and have Huge success in another, some over here have even tried their luck in NFL and done reasonably well).
    If taken seriously I mean with a little investment, If the USA really wanted to take away NZ's glory in winning anything they could straight up pull High profile players (who are bigger, faster and agile) out of their NFL comp who are already physically conditioned, they just need to incorporate effective grappling skills that are required for tackling and suppressing oppositions game play stratergy. I dare say USA who has a much larger pool to choose from, has the players to beat NZ and year after year too, Its just about when do they want to make it happen.
    Food for thought!

    • @gedd1981
      @gedd1981 Před 2 lety +1

      Well Angel, I applaud/respect your belief's but the mechanics of this game are forever changing as the tempo gets quicker and laws are changed to reflect the games evolution. The introduction of professionalism in our National Game is such that, pride earned & shown when attaining AB status for players, in not only the current team, facillitates an opportunity for many of the players to support family outside of NZ. This together with good old fashioned Kiwi pride, will take significantly longer than several years, (not inside of 6 months) for any country (The Olympic champions of the game included) who are unaccustomed & novices @ the "modern" game, to achieve a status on par or close to mtching the skills of the AB's or for that matter any recognised National team versed in the skills of the game. I am very happy when any National Team in any sport travels Internationally - it is expericnces gained & learnt on Tours, (from participants) that develops the game across the world. I loved the way the commentators explained & promoted the game played by many amateur athletes in USA.

    🤣 @20:56 commentator.. and that pass was forward! Which it wasn’t 😆 then after watching replay he realises he was wrong! 🤣🤣 still not the worst rugby commentary I’ve heard before but they still don’t know correct rugby terminology but kudos to them they still learning, I guess and sometimes it’s easy for us in NZ to criticise them but we’ve grownup with the knowledge and understanding the correct terms like a 3 pointer is actually called penalty and a 2 pointer is conversion😝

    It seems that whenever the Americans gained an advantage it was penalised, however the many times when high tackling was carried out by the All Blacks it wasn’t noticed.
    In the UK, people would have been yellow carded at least.
    As always, the All Blacks seem to be given favourable refereeing decisions wherever they play. Obviously they were going to win, but why cheapen it by not applying equal game management to both sides?

      there were several high and illegal by eagles. joubert allowed the game to flow and was a good contest. Would have ruined it if cards started coming out - and there were times USA shoulda had some. Reffing in general was pretty solid not many mistakes at all. stop being salty.
