  • Part 1 of my Korg Kross Tutorial gives you a quickstart on how to use the internal sequencer of this fine and affordable little synthesizer workstation. This episode is Kross 2 compatible. In this episode you will learn how to
    - activate the sixteenth note timing correction ("quantizing")
    - record and play back a track
    - assign a sound to a track
    - save and load your song
    Wanna thank, support or know more about the Synthesaurus? Go here: / synthesaurus
    The goal of our little tutorial series is to show you all neccessary functions you need to know to produce a decent song on your Kross, using the internal sequencer only, without any other instruments or software. Here are all episodes so far: • 🎹 Korg Kross tutorials Also visit us on FB: / 1634604910149671
    If you are interested in making your own sounds with the Korg Kross, but don't really know how to do that, because you don't know much about synthesizers in general, we also have some tutorials for this: • 🎹⁉️ Synthesizer Explai...
    The complete intro track is here: • Video - made of course with the Korg Kross.
    Let me explain some basic thing here: I am not an expert on the Kross. I don't work for Korg, and I am no hacker or programmer. The things I show you in my tutorial videos are essentially everything I know about the Kross, and that is actually not that much. Some things I explain in my tutorial probably makes a pro laugh. I am an amateur musician who, in his spare time, likes to jam in some notes and call it a "song", and I know which buttons to press on the Kross to do that. There are many, many people out there, who are much better than me at operating the Kross. You can of course post questions here about how to do this and that with the Kross, but please don't be mad if I don't answer those requests personally - I just don't know the answers. But maybe some other guy does.

And yes, I totally agree: Korg should pay me, because my videos make more people actually buy the Kross than their own dumb videos. But you know what: If they paid me, I wouldn't be neutral/trustworthy anymore. So ... :)

      Thanks for the tutorial! One thing I dont understand, is how to easily change sound (instrument) during the drums playing :) In yamahas its straight forward, select drums, start, and then choose what ever instrument while drum track plays. On kross chaning instrument/program always resets the drum track.

    Thank you so much, this makes things easier. Quick question, is it preferable to use Append or Clear?

    • @SynthesaurusRex
      @SynthesaurusRex  Před 4 lety

      Good question! If you load a sequencer song with "Clear", it will erase all sequencer songs that are in the current memory of the Kross. If you select "Append", it will load the selected sequencer song and add it to the sequencer song, that is in the current memory, as a "New Song". You have to understand, that a Kross SNG file does not hold ONE sequencer song, but can contain a number of different sequencer songs. Consider a SNG file as an "project" file, that can contain different versions of one song. Or even completely different songs. In the end, it's just a bunch of MIDI data. :)

    Hi!
    I watched your Kross tutorials a long time ago but I got a question.
    In the global settings - G-input/Ctrl - Foot tab,
    I can assign my foot switch
    to use as a program changer
    if I assign the command as 'Program up' or 'Program down'.
    After assigning the command and store the changes, my foot switch, the Yamaha fs-7 or TC Helicon switch will only work in a single direction.
    If I set the command as 'Program down', even if I push either buttons, the program will only keep going down and down.
    If I change the command to 'Program up', it will keep going up.
    Is there any ways to make it available to make both 'Program up' and 'Program down' commands at once?
    So as if I push my left button on my control pedal, the program goes up, and if I push the right button, it goes down.
    Thanks for your dedicated tutorials!

  • @waxfalcon
    @waxfalcon Před 3 lety

    Hi Mr. Rex. I am finally reviewing and practicing with your great tutorial.
    Question: Do you know how I can get the same sound as is when in Prog Mode? I mean for instance, when I pick "Synth Lead - 016 Rude Lead" it doesn't sound exactly the same in Seq Mode. It sounds much more "flat".

    • @SynthesaurusRex
      @SynthesaurusRex  Před 3 lety +1

      That is because the sound program has some internal effects on it. When you choose the same sound program for your combination or sequencer song, it will be "dry", without the effects that the sound program has.

    • @waxfalcon
      @waxfalcon Před 3 lety

      It is a bit disappointing :-(

    • @SynthesaurusRex
      @SynthesaurusRex  Před 3 lety +1

      At first, but it can't be done any other way. Remember: one sound program can have up to 7 different effects. A combination can have up to 16 different sound programs. So putting 16 sound programs into a combi (or sequencer song) would result into using 112 different effects. And I don't know any keyboard or workstation that has that kind of effects capability, at least not in that price range.

    • @waxfalcon
      @waxfalcon Před 3 lety

      Thank you for your prompt response.
      Then I should copy the effects of the instrument in prog and re write them in seq mode, correct?

    • @SynthesaurusRex
      @SynthesaurusRex  Před 3 lety +1

      The Kross has a function for that. When you start a new project (combi/seq), you will find the COPY FROM function in the functions list, which allows you to copy effects from any sound program or combi to your project.
